About this property

Tabor House All Season Vacation Rental LLC/Perfect for Families, Pets Welcome

The Tabor House was constructed around 1895 and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.  It has all the charm of a Victorian style home with modern amenities and located just two short blocks from downtown Wallace, Idaho.

Although the home is not ADA compliant, there are only three short steps to enter the front of the home with a main floor bedroom. The second and third floors are accessible by stairways.

THE MAIN FLOOR-
has 1 bedroom with a king-sized bed and 37" flat screen TV with Roku. A USB rapid charger is located on the wall facing the backyard.

The living room has a cozy gas fireplace with remote, a 50" flat screen with Roku and Netflix, a DVD player with a selection of DVDs, games, puzzles and a book exchange. A Wii game console is located next to the DVD for family gaming. A Shuffleboard table is now located in the dining room. A CD Jukebox with free play is located in the living room.

There is a spacious and well supplied eat in kitchen with microwave, glass top range, dishwasher, and full size fridge/freezer with ice maker.

There is a large formal dining room, full bath, washer, dryer and gas BBQ (located on the backyard patio area).  Just inside the back door entrance is a mud room to put your skis and boots. There is also a radio flyer wagon to pull the kids around town or to get groceries as well as bikes to ride.

There is ample parking on the street. Additional covered parking for your motorcycles, ATVs, bicycles, vehicle, etc. can be found at the rear of the residence.

We hope you will enjoy the beautiful front porch (our personal favorite).  Wave to the visitors on the trolley as it goes by or if you are lucky, watch the elk or moose traipse through town.

THE SECOND FLOOR-
offers 3 more bedrooms and a full bathroom.  Two rooms have queen-sized beds and one room has a double/full.  There are flat screen TVs (32") in all the bedrooms also with  Roku, and lots of closet space. These rooms also have USB rapid chargers located along the wall which are labeled for identification.

THE THIRD FLOOR-
Or attic has recently been finished with new carpet, drywall, paint, windows. Because we are big on safety, we installed emergency exit (egress) windows.

There is also an emergency escape ladder located in a silver plastic storage container in the room.

We like to think of this floor as great for the youth in your group as it has 4 single beds in private alcoves (thanks to the gabled ceiling), a bubble hockey machine, 32" flat screen with Roku, and a classic Nintendo console (remember those?) with games for their enjoyment.   This of course does not mean that adults would not find this area fun also!

There are five security cameras located at the front, rear and side of the residence. The cameras are live and recording.

We accept pets up to 50lbs with a limit of 2 furry family members. There is a one-time fee of $25.00. (additional pets require approval and extra fees)

The Tabor House worked so well for our group of 5 - we each had our own space and a full, well appointed kitchen, large dining room table, and living room with lots of seating. The front porch is delightful, again, plenty of seating for all. It’s walkable to the numerous, friendly food, drink and antique businesses in Wallace. Finally, the host is an excellent communicator and takes great care of this historic home.

This is my 5th time as a guest at the Tabor House and as always it was wonderful.

My friends and I stayed here for the 3rd year in a row and very much enjoyed this home. Scotty is always so easy to work with and the home has everything you could want and more. We look forward to returning next year, this home has become one of our favorite parts of visiting Wallace.

Always the best at the Tabor House

My friends and I have stayed in this lovely home every year during the Wallace Bluesfest for over 5 years now. Every time we stay we have the most relaxed and fun time. We love the front porch where we can sit and people watch and chat it up. Its a big home so everyone has their own space but the home itself still has that cozy feel. Can't wait till next year. Cozy Home with all the amenities! A perfect home for a large group!

This is my second time staying at the Tabor House and it was just perfect. We had a ladies weekend with Mom's and daughter's and the home was just what wished for. Between the festive holiday decorating and the fresh falling snow we couldn't have asked for a more perfect and cozy home. Thank you Scotty for the second visit. Look forward to coming back in July 2019!

Loved it!

Super quaint, yet modern. Front porch is amazing! Conveniently located with everything within walking distance. Literally a five minute walk to food, drinks, tourist shops, bike path, and anything else you'll need. Owners provide bikes, helmets, kids toys, games...too much to list. Friendly neighbors, but not nosey. Gated yard for dogs. Trolley passes out front. Superb place. Can't wait to go back!

Very Nice Location

We arrived at the Tabor House earlier than the stated check in time and Scotty graciously accommodated us. The Tabor House was clean and well appointed with furniture, dishes, appliances, and essentials. I was very grateful for the washer and dryer because we got so dusty dirty biking the Hiawatha and 4-wheeling on the dirt roads. The Tabor House’s downtown location provided easy access to rentals, restaurants and shopping and yet it was a peaceful and quiet neighborhood, lovely for strolling. I have a personal preference for cotton bedding and what is provided is a silky synthetic but the bed itself and pillows were comfortable. My husband especially liked the comfy living room furniture. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Love, love, love!

Our extended family had a lovely vacation retreat at the Tabor House. It is perfect for large groups with 4 spacious bedrooms and the 5th bedroom loft area is fabulous for all the kids in the family. Our three teens enjoyed their own space up there! The town of Wallace is so quaint and has a great Main Street to explore. We recommend the Fainting Goat Wine Bar and Bistro. The costume closet lends itself perfectly to a murder mystery dinner game as a part of your family getawy/celebration. Scotty responds promptly to all inquiries - finding salt for the winter sidewalk, etc. There were no problems with the house and communication is the best we've experienced with VRBO. Thank you Tabor House for making my dad's 75th birthday ski and family vacay experience the best!

Wallace is magical

We have been to Wallace numerous times over the past 10 years, normally staying with friends who have a summer home there. This year some local friends wanted to go there to ride the Hiawatha Trail and visit the other local sites, thus the need for a VRBO. The Tabor home was perfect for us, very well stocked with all the necessary cooking/dining utensils. The location is excellent! There is an enclosed back area to protect bikes. The house was neat and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the property very well maintained. We would definitely stay at the Tabor House again.

Wonderful place to stay in Wallace

Our group of retirees stayed at the Tabor House for a Wallace HS Class Reunion. It is a beautiful historic home located just a couple blocks from downtown. The kitchen was well equipped. Be aware that the stairs to the third floor are pretty steep. Has a great area for kids, including lots of toys, but whoever sleeps up there needs to be careful on the stairs. None of us did, but we enjoyed a cautious tour of the kids area. Scott was very responsive and helpful. Be sure to take a walk around the neighborhood to see the other historic homes, almost all of which are well maintained and have beautiful yards.

Words can't describe

A 5 star rating isn't high enough for this property, and there aren't enough wonderful adjectives to adequately describe the property... Spent 2 nights, but could have stayed 2 weeks. The grandkids LOVED everything from the jukebox to shuffleboard to air hockey to sleeping "in the attic". There were only 6 of us and this place easily sleeps 12 so we had PLENTY of room (there were 2 bedrooms we didn't even use...). Housecleaning did an exceptional job (so I left them an extra tip - you should too ! ! !). Don't know what else to say, but in my years and years of staying at VRBO's from Oregon to Florida (and numerous states in between) this was definitely the BEST place we have EVER stayed at. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! ! !

Host profile image
Scotty Baby and Wendy are from Northern Nevada and purchased the Tabor House in 2012. Scotty Baby is recently retired after 36 years in public service. Wendy is semi-retired and has spent much time taking care of and maintaining this beautiful home. We hope that your stay here will spark your imagination while finding peace and adventure here in historic Wallace.

Some of our favorite activities include ghost hunting, ATV riding, river rafting, checking out the local breweries and restaurants and skiing.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property after visiting Wallace. We love Victorian style homes and were fortunate to find this one. The neighbors and community are friendly, and a local tour trolley drives around daily during the summer with tourist checking out the town. The area was perfect for us as we ride our ATV's, hike, bike ride, shop and enjoy the local restaurants and bars. Originally purchased as a summer vacation home for us, we decided that we wanted to share the Wallace experience with others when we are not in residence. The town itself is wonderful having been chosen for the making of the film "Dante's Peak". There are many tree lined streets, Victorian homes and historic buildings all within walking distance. We hope that a stay here will spark your imagination while finding peace and adventure here in historic Wallace.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the style of our home and especially the front porch area which is a great place to "Chillax" while sipping our favorite adult beverage. The living room, formal dining room and modern kitchen are large and homey. The bedrooms are large (except for the Roosevelt Room) and have views of the surrounding homes and mountains. The home itself just feels right comfortable and quiet.
