About the host

Host profile image
Nadia and Michael bought this farm in 1999 when it was in serious disrepair. We raised three children who raised lamb, pigs, chickens and turkeys to make some money by selling meat to neighbors. After 25 years we have fixed it up to be a beautiful place to share with others.

Why they chose this property

The farm is in the Housatonic River valley on Boardman Street in Sheffield MA, the oldest town in the Berkshires. Boardman Street is a popular road for biking and walking. The views from the barn, fields and house are long and beautiful across fields, trees and to the mountains to the west.

What makes this property unique

Our farm is 180 acres and is leased to the largest dairy farm in Massachusetts which raises corn and hay for the cattle. It abuts the Housatonic river. It has river valley fields, swamps and rocky hills. Sergeant John Wilcox bought the farm in 1800 after training troups in nearby Great Barrington during the Revolutionary War. He added the 1812 brick portion of the house to the 1767 original wood structure.
