About this property
Charming 1-bedroom gite in delightful countryside hamlet with views
This cozy gite in Saint-Georges-de-Livoye is perfect for your holiday. With 1 bedroom featuring a king sized bed, and an ensuite shower room, fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine and a garden with beautiful views of the countryside, guests will have everything they need for a terrific stay. Experience what Manche has to offer with a stay at our gite.
On entering the gite there is an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. There is a 3 seater sofa in the lounge with a television with freesat channels and French TV. Wifi is via starlink. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you should need for your stay and a good sized dining table. Upstairs is the bedroom with kingsize bed, wardrobe, dressing table and the ensuite shower room with hand basin and w.c.
Bedding and towels are provided.
We have central heating for the colder months.
Outside, you have a garden area with table and chairs which is not fenced, and you are welcome to use the whole of our garden and the different seating areas. There is a charcoal BBQ for you to use. There are horses in the fields in front and to the back of us.
You have your own entrance onto the property and parking is next to the gite. We do have secure storage for bikes if required.
The gite is attached to our house with no internal access. We live on site with our small dog, Dorothy, who is very friendly, and a beautiful cat, Jasper, who keeps herself to herself unless she wants feeding! There is a small fenced off area for Dorothy at the back of our house so that she won’t pester you unless you want her to.
There are lots of lovely walks nearby. In our village, there is a fishing lake with a restaurant and bar in which is open during the day, currently Wednesday through to Sunday. It serves lunches and snacks and of course you can fish.
Brecey is the nearest town, just 5 minutes from us and has all the amenities including bars, restaurants, supermarkets, petrol stations, horse riding, and an open air swimming pool.
There are many beautiful places to visit - here are some of our favourites:
Le Mont Saint Michel is a must visit, a magical island steeped in history and one of the most visited sites in France. For this reason you may wish to visit early in the day or early evening to avoid the crowds in high season.
Parc Botanique de Haute Bretagne - set in 25 hectares and known for its Japanese inspired gardens, it is a true delight to visit. As well as the gardens there is a restaurant based in the old chateau farm just outside the garden, and a tea house in the grounds.
Fougères - visit the ruined castle of Fougères set in the beautiful cobbled streets of the town, a magnificent abbey and gardens, rich in heritage that spans over 1000 years.
Avranches - cobbled lanes, picturesque squares and home to the manuscripts from Le Mont Saint-Michel. The garden, Jardin des Plantes, is very pretty and has a breath-taking view of the Bay of Le Mont Saint-Michel, set opposite the gothic church of Notre Dame des Champs.
Cancale - A lovely port town which is renowned for its oysters and shellfish - and of course a wealth of delightful fish and seafood restaurants.
Saint Malo - Fortified old world town and port with restaurants and shopping.
Saint - Hilaire du Harcouet - a bustling market town. The market is on a Wednesday morning and is the one of the largest in the area. It has an imposing church to visit and below this, a large lake with activities in the summer
Villedieu-les-Poêles - a beautiful medieval town and famous for its copper pan making. Market day is Tuesday morning.
Granville - a seaside resort, market (Saturday mornings) and harbour town. The old walled harbour stands above the town while the lower town hosts the beach and promenade. The museum of Christian Dior is close by and worth a visit, with its tea rooms open in seasonal times.
