Everything was excellent and the host gave plenty of helpful ideas for sightseeing and local restaurants. Can’t think of a better place to stay close to the park
Jim was an incredible host and his lovely cabin met all of our expectations. We will definitely come back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and gorgeous mountain retreat for family and friends.
Best stay away that we have ever had. Home is beautiful, views of mountains are breathtaking. Host was easy to communicate with. Everything was peaceful and perfect. Will be back.
Our friends' getaway may become an annual tradition at the "log cabin mansion" as we affectionately called it. The spectacular mountain views alome made the trip worth it. The home was clean and spacious including a small library upstairs and an exercise and game area downstairs. The host was communicative and provided helpful recommendations for the area. We enjoyed cooking out on the grill and preparing a pancake breakfast in the clean well-stocked kitchen. The hot tub under the stars was also definitely a fan favorite.

Olivia, thank you for the kind comments. I’m so glad you enjoyed the house. Come back anytime.
Beautiful log home. Great views. Indoor furnishings very nice. Outdoor seating/shade was lacking. Main bath is in need of a renovation. Could not get hot tub over 92 degrees. Host was communicative.
This home is incredible!!! It was absolutely clean, had all the amenities and a view of the mountains that’s indescribable! The host couldn’t be any more approachable and had all needs covered! Would never hesitate to return to this heaven on earth spot.

Kevin, you are welcome back anytime thank you for the nice comments. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the ambience of the mountains Jim.
Absolutely stunning property with breathtaking views. The fireplaces made the home feel incredibly cozy, and the fully equipped kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again!
This house as soon as you pull up the driveway is so beautiful! The views are spectacular! Everything with the house was amazing! Amazing communication with the host! Can’t wait to book another trip here!
This place sits on a spectacular scenic overlook and offers wonderful amenities, including a BBQ and a hot tub. With its large windows, you can enjoy panoramic mountain views throughout the day, then relax in the hot tub under the stars at night. We visited in November and can’t wait to return again in the summer!
Beautiful house & attentive host. But felt guest amenities were an afterthought & like we had to tend house more than be on vacation. Seemed the house wasn't prepped for guests recently. Biggest issue was an empty well water neutralizer that made all water smell like rotten egg for a couple days that made showering unbearable (we were not familiar with well water so we didn't know what the water smell was coming from). We didn't end up showering on the last day due to horrendous water smell & checked out early. Nice views & house is private without being too secluded. Recommend a SUV to access the house from either direction.
Warm and cozy. Perfect view. Convenient to the less-utilized Thornton entrance to the national park. Amazing escape. I would highly recommend this place for nature immersion and beautiful sunsets from the deck. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Mystic Pines was exactly what my wife and I were looking for, for our first anniversary: somewhere just outside the city with stunning views, peace, and quiet. The cabin itself is extremely well appointed, and while it makes a good base camp for exploring the area, you won’t want to leave.
A wonderful, relaxing time! My family thoroughly enjoyed ourselves taking in the stunning views and cozying up for movie nights and homemade meals. We especially loved how easy it was for all of us to maneuver around the kitchen without getting in each other’s way. A beautiful experience that we will cherish for a very long time.
Jjim was the most helpful host we ever had. That is a real compliment considering all the VRBO and AB&B locations we have stayed at. His responses to our questions were very timely and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mystic Pines. The home was cozy, clean, and well equipped. The views are spectacular!! We enjoyed both the cabin and many of the things the surrounding area offered. Hiking at the state park, geocaching, area wineries, and more.Communication was great and appreciated them checking in to make sure all was well. We will definitely consider returning in the future.

Did you actually stay at the house? It was so clean we had to scan for fingerprints:). Thanks for the feedback and the photos are amazing - really grateful for your views of the house. Take care, and happy new year! - Jim
Wonderful property. The cabin itself is beautiful, clean, and well-furnished and it's got a great view of the mountains as well, visible from either inside through the glass wall, or from the spacious balcony complete with hot tub. Big enough for a large group, but we really enjoyed it with our smaller group of 6 as well. The drive in can be a bit steep at times, but the gravel road is well maintained and easy to navigate. Both an upper balcony and a lower patio give lots of space to spend outside, and there are multiple 'hang out' spaces inside in addition to the bedrooms and main living room (a side room with a fireplace, a lofted reading room upstairs, the entirety of the basement's second living room.)About 20 minutes south of Front Royal so supplies aren't too far, but you're enough removed to see plenty of stars on a clear night. There's a trailhead in walking distance and more a short drive away.Check-in was easy, and the host was communicative, responsive, and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
We found this house to be an isolated retreat in the woods complete with a hot tub, large spaces to entertain, and a beautiful view.Waking up to the clouds in the valley of the Blue Ridge mountains had me awestruck. Jim helped us when required
