Paying guest or overnight lodging available in prime New Alipore residential area. Beautiful green view from the balcony and high ceiling. Rooms are very spacious. Near New Alipore petrol pump/bridge. All basic amenities including metro station, restaurants, taxi, hospital etc are within 5-10 minutes. Includes 24 hours water supply, security, and elevator. There is a bank and ATM in the ground floor. Ideal for marriage guests , tourists or students! Please don't hesitate to reach out and ask. This space is unique in a huge metropolis like Kolkata. Located in South Kolkata's posh residential neighborhood, it is an oasis of quietness surrounded by greenery. A huge balcony allows us to relax while sipping your favorite beverage. Full access to all common areas outside of the apartment that guests are renting.

Other things to note

Kitchen: For your convenience, a kitchen space is available along with an induction oven. This is NOT a full-fledged kitchen with gas and full amenities. We have some basic utensils to help you out. There is also a microwave available to heat up quick eats and water for tea.

Home cooked food: If you need home food delivered, then you can please let the host know. Our rates are very affordable. There is an Indian Overseas Bank ATM located on the ground floor for your convenience.

Security: There is a security guard available at the main gate of the building. The building’s gate closes by 11 PM every night for security of the residents. So in the rare circumstance that you are delayed beyond that, please let the Host know so that we can inform the guard and make special arrangements.

Necessities: Pharmacy: Sangam Medical Store is adjacent to the petrol pump; Grocery; New Alipore Market; For ironing, please let the host know. We can connect you to our local dhobi.

Getting around: The New Alipore petrol pump and police station are just around the corner (5 min walk) including the train/bus station. The Rabrindra Sarobar and Kalighat metro stations are 5-10 minutes (via a shuttle auto or taxi) away depending on traffic. You can catch the auto shuttle or bus from either the petrol pump or from behind the house – in front of Hindustan Sweets. There is also a taxi station at the petrol pump if you need something immediately. You can always use Uber or Ola on your phone. The New Alipore railway station is also right across from our house.

RESTAURANTS CLOSE BY:
a. Budget: 1) Super Snack Bar (famous for South Indian food) is walking distance (in front of the petrol pump); 2) Zyka (Multi- Cuisine +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) a few blocks down the road., 3) Hindustan Sweets: Bengali/traditional sweets is on the major road behind the house. Fancy: The 5 star TAJ Bengal has probably Kolkata’s best Chinese food. This is an old school hotel is located in old Alipore and is around a 15 mins’ drive.

TRANSPORTATION: If you need a private taxi for hire for a few days, please let us know and we will try and arrange the same for you in advance. You can pay the taxi company directly.

ATTRACTIONS & SIGHT SEEING OPTIONS IN THE VICINITY:
a. During Durga puja, this is an ideal place to stay as the award winning New Alipore Suruchi Sangha puja Pandal is right around the corner in front of the new Alipore petrol pump. Beware that the lines can be very long!
b. Interesting tidbit: Amartya Sen’s old house is walking distance from our place, you can still the sign hanging there that calls out this famous Nobel Laureate of India. Politician Brinda Karat, and actress Bipasha Bapu are also from here.
c. Kalighat Temple: Famous Hindu temple in West Bengal, India dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
d. IIM Kolkata: Located at only 4 kms (20 – 30 mins) from our house.
e. New Alipore Zoo and The Agri Horticulture Society of India is about 15-20 mins away.
