Quaint, quiet and clean
Very warm and welcoming home. Everything was exactly as the pictures showed. Perfect place for a small family for thee weekend to go to FSU games. It was a short 8-10 min drive to the stadium and a short drive to numerous restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this place. Thanks again!

Very clean. John easy to work with. Had a great time visiting family. Needs bedroom furniture.
Had a great time visiting family. House is very clean. Location is great. It was very easy. Needs bedroom furniture. Master bedroom has nowhere to hang or store clothes and only one bedside table. John was extremely easy to work with. Found a sweater under the sofa. Not ours. Overall a great experience

Susan - thank you for your stay and for your feedback! It was a pleasure to host you. We disclose up front in the posting that the master closet is locked to guest access, however, we do plan on having the master closet available for guests as well as add additional storage options to the bedrooms starting in 2019. Happy holidays to you and your family!

Perfect Tallahassee get-away!
John was wonderful to work with-responsive and hospitable. The house was exactly as shown - very roomy and comfortable. The beds were awesome! There were no issues with cleanliness. The little issues mentioned in some reviews-a locked closet, limited drawers, no hangers-were non-issues to us. Such things have been common to us, staying in similar situations and even commercial cabins and properties. We were very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and quite beautiful. The location was wonderful! It took us no time to get around town to the sights. And so much to do-what a great area for a vacation!

Close to everything but lacking in a number of areas
The location was great as was the back yard. There were issues with a non functioning ice maker as noted in the last review. The outlet in the master bath did not have GFCI and I got shocked when I plugged in a hair dryer. It started smoking and I notified the landlord who offered to send someone out. There were two light switches in the kitchen with no cover plates on it. The house had a very strong chemical smell on arrival so we opened some windows and then noticed in the bedrooms a sour smell. No exhaust fans in bath. Few dishes other than paper and plastic bowls. The price was too high for the overall quality of this home.

We're sorry you didn't find the home satisfactory. Between the complimentary travel goods we include in both bath suites, 18 ceramic & glass plates, dozens of wine glasses, several coffee mugs, and an endless supply of complimentary paper plates & bowls and plastic cups available to use free of charge, we intend to make guests as comfortable as possible without having to stock up on home goods to use the house. Most short term rentals offer little more than a roof and beds. The ceramic/glass plates & bowls were right above the paper plates in the cabinet next to the fridge. Unfortunately, it appears the ice maker went out during Thanksgiving and as I'm sure you're aware your stay started after the holiday weekend (Sunday) with no time to send a handyman out between visits. The home will be finished with remodelling at the end of 2017 and a new fridge is part of the plan. Regarding the GFCI outlet, it connects to the same breaker as the hall bath so if there was any trip in the electrical system, as confirmed by an electrician, it would also have cut the power/lights in both bathrooms as well as trip the breaker in the main electrical panel. We didn't find any trip in the breaker box and no power outage was reported in either bathroom. We'd suggest checking your blow-dryer and consider replacing it. Any smell in the house may have come from the floors that were freshly mopped with Pinesol before arrival and Febreze air freshener that was sprayed in all bedrooms and bathrooms. The time the house was vacated was roughly 15 minutes prior to your arrival so these smells were likely still lingering in the house. We understand there's not many homes available in this location, and an even rarer number that allow pets as a part of the short term rental, as we allowed for your group. Thanks for your stay and we wish you best.

Not sanitary, nasty, and owner is not trust worthy!
I had to wait to do this review by the owner is not trusting. Nasty food in the kitchen and rotten food in the cabinets. I never thought to check out linen on the beds upon arrival. It was late night when I was turning in or so I thought, when I found the bed and linens soiled with blood. Yes, Blood! I almost hyperventilated. At this point nothing could have convinced me that this home had been cleaned. I started washing the washcloths and towels and went and purchased all linen for all rooms and air matresses so that I can get a good night sleep. I contacted the owner, John and he stated that he will go and purchase new linen the next day. I informed him that I was already at the store purchasing these items and would just need to be reimbursed. He agreed and told me to send him a copy of the receipt. I sent it to him and he only chose to reimburse for the one bed, not any of the other bedding purchase. I did not argue with him as I was trying to get through the holiday with my family. The day after departure, I texted and ask when will he be processing the deposit. He texted back that he had to replace his phone and who is this. I explained that I was the person the just rented his home. He said, my home been rented all month. I then sent him the date and my full name and explained to him that I don't play games I file proceedings. He then told me that I need to review the home away policy and procedues which is 7-10 days after departure.
Don't trust the look of the home!

The cause of whatever quarter-sized spot that was present on the King duvet cover is still unknown. All the sheets in the house have since been replaced with brand new white sheets from Costco and white duvet covers in all bedrooms from Macy's. Part of our cleaning policies and procedures are to have the house professionally cleaned before and after each guest stays in the house, the house was professionally cleaned prior to the stay, and there has been an agreement with Micwalis Enterprises as our cleaning vendor in place. Since this visit, I've been in touch with Micwalis and have been assured the new policies will be maintained. All sheets are now bleached and washed after each guest stays in the house. It's also worth noting the guest refused to let us investigate and remediate the problem with new sheets on the King bed when it was disclosed, and instead was told she wanted to be reimbursed for the replacement cost of the King bed linens. They called after 11pm, we answered, and of course, we acted promptly. When we brought back the reimbursement check to the house the following day i also brought a pumpkin pie, and the children in the house seemed happy and appreciative of the gesture.
Regarding food in the house - we routinely leave condiments and other commonly eaten goods like coffee, oranges, apples, and bananas for guests to enjoy free of charge. None of which were rotten. In fact, all were fresh as we hosted friends at the house the previous day and had a very nice sangria brunch. At the end of these guests' stay we noted every single item in the fridge was taken by the tenants, not thrown away (I searched the trash).
An unknown number contacted us after these guests' stay, which was also after several weeks of other guests staying at the property, asking about their deposit being returned. The number didn't disclose their identity and we asked them to clarify since there had been other guests staying recently. I directed them to the HomeAway policies which state deposits may take upwards of 7-10 days post stay to be returned.

About the host
Hosted by John McLaughlin
Originally from Miami, I've been a Tallahassee resident since 2004 and love spending time with my dogs, traveling, being an outdoor enthusiast, Italian food, and following FSU & South Florida sports.
As a host, my goal is to have the living arrangements as comfortable and clean for you as possible and to feel as if you're home away from home. Clean linens, useful amenities, and a fresh scent should welcome you every time. I look forward to hosting you along your travels!
Why they chose this property
The space is clean, fresh, fully updated, comfortable and close to all the local hotspots while also avoiding all the noise. This home allows you to sprawl out with your family & friends in the living room and watch the game, cook a big meal for your family/friends in the spacious/updated kitchen, or hang outside in the screened patio while your pets run around in the large fenced-in yard.
What makes this property unique
The location is absolutely perfect if you want to be close to stadium or downtown areas. Just off I-10 and inside Thomasville Rd, you'll find yourself right in the heart of everything going on in Tallahassee and close to where you want to spend your days in town. You will absolutely LOVE falling asleep in these beds, the master bed has intentionally been double pillow-topped and feels like a dream.
