About this property
The Rustic Side
Make some memories at this unique, rustic cabin within a few feet of a 1.5 acre pond which is close to both Columbus and Delaware, OH. Find experiences that can last a lifetime and might transform your life. Plan ahead for amazing adventures and exciting events. Use the open space Cabin for overflow if you have more than 14 guests staying at the house. $35 pricing is for 7-8 people. A Special offer can be made for 2-6 people. $1400 specials.
Property
The Cabin is an open space with no rooms for those who enjoy “roughing it a little.” The cabin is quite comfortable for 3-4 people. Although it has space for up to eight, using a bunk bed, couch and air mattresses, this is pushing it a little. It has a kitchenette, 4 people bunk bed, couch, chairs and TV. If you need air mattresses, you will want to deflate and reinflate the air mattresses each day to have room for daily use inside. The air mattresses inflate/deflate with their own compressor which plugs into a wall outlet. Please be careful, so you don’t need to buy a new air mattress.
The kitchenette has a microwave, small refrigerator, small freezer (which needs to be plugged in to use) and a prep table. We currently store some items, including a usable treadmill and piano in the cabin. You are welcome to use these items during your stay. There is a large exercise mat on part of the floor for yoga, etc. The Cabin has heat and air, but there is still work to be done on the air.
There is no running water at the Cabin. You shower at the house. Again with eight people, this is pushing the boundaries of convenience. We provide a small camping style port-a-potty, which you empty in the basement toilet at the house. You can also use two toilets at the house. You do laundry and shower in the basement room. Please knock if the door is closed.
We like to use the Cabin for overflow for more than 14 people. Eight people at the cabin is pushing convenience quite a bit in terms of laundry, toilet and shower. Bath #2 at the house is available for shower and toilet, but again this is pushing convenience for more than 14 guests.
We will provide a Special Offer to 3-6 people/night at $200-300 ($50+/person/night) or for two people/night at $140 ($70 each) and a discounted $35/night/person price to 7-8 people for two or more nights. $50/each for 7-8/one night. We prefer to rent the Cabin by itself to only four people to reduce inconvenience, but if you don’t mind roughing it a little, you can book more. We occasionally use the Cabin for out-of-town workers who stay for several days to get a project completed.
The Cabin can also be used for wheelchair access for those who are definitely willing to rough it. It has a concrete walk from the parking lot to the Cabin. By opening the garage door at the house, a wheelchair bound person can also access the basement bath in the house. The shower is a little small for handicapped use, but a plastic stool can make it available if you are not too large. A sponge bath is possible at the utility tub, if this is acceptable.
Let’s emphasize roughing it a little. A family with kids may like the price, but may find the bathroom walk, porta-potty, and special care needed for airbeds quite inconvenient. A handicap person may not want to drive to the house and open a garage door for restroom privileges. In the cabin you will essentially be living out of your suitcase. For two to eight people that truly don’t mind roughing it a little, the Cabin can be a perfect reasonably priced place to find a little rustic joy in the beauty of nature.
Guest Access
If you book the Cabin only without scheduling an event, like a birthday party or a wedding, we limit access to the area around the Cabin/Sanctuary. If you book an event we have seven event spaces to which you can have access. Call Warren to learn about planning an event.
Interaction With Guests
Once you book your stay, you will receive Warren's cell phone number. Call or text him any time before, during or after your stay to work out anything you need to plan or solve. Do NOT leave a voice message. He responds to texts and calls as quickly as possible, usually within an hour or three.
For the most part you will be free to enjoy the Cabin without interference from Warren or Pearl; however, if you schedule The Human Journey, Step by Step Financial Planning, a Murder Mystery Evening, or another event we will be actively involved in guiding that experience.
Ask for our Planning Spreadsheet and about our limited Concierge service to plan activities outside of Chimorel. We can guide you to many activities if you want.
Other Details to Note
We offer several additional services and free services when you book $1400 or more. This will happen when your booking uses the Cabin as overflow when booking the Sanctuary for 11+ guests for two days.
Our services include: A limited concierge service ($35/event scheduled) and several special activities such as The Human Journey (three act play that teaches deeper listening) for approximately six people, Step By Step Financial Planning (focusing on Career Development, Resource Management, Risk Management, Investment Strategies, and Satisfaction Planning according to your needs) and a Murder Mystery Evening. $150 to $350 each depending on the depth you choose.
To learn more about any of these services, paid and free, talk to Warren. See Joy in the Beauty of Nature for a related booking.
Check In Method
Stop at the house (6306 Home Rd) to pick up the key or talk to Warren to make other arrangements.
The door is locked with a pad lock, part of the rustic nature of the Cabin. You can change the pad lock from the outside to the inside while you are sleeping.
After you get the key, you will drive a very short distance to 6360 Home Rd, park in the spacious parking lot, and walk a few feet to the cabin.
