Lake Erie Beachfront Cottage Near Geneva State Park Lodge

Beautiful, small, lakefront cottage modestly decorated in nautical theme, overlooking the lake. This is a quiet family friendly cottage. The spectacular sunsets sold us on this home, and we enjoy the nearby area, too. Situated amongst other weekend get-away homes, this is a fabulous spot to relax on the deck overlooking the grassy hill leading down to the water and watch the waves rolling in, the Great Lakes ships passing by on the horizon.

This is also a lovely spot Ohio's beautiful Fall season. The area is filled with fall foliage, remarkably tasty wineries with farm to table restaurants, covered bridges, bike trails, and local festivals.

Geneva-on-the-Lake has a 1950's shopping strip-lined with amusement halls, putt-putt golf, waterslides, shops, and restaurants. We enjoy visiting Geneva State Park with its lodge, beach and marina, the wineries in the area, covered bridges, antique shops in Ashtabula Harbor, and incredible views as you drive along the lake. An hour to Erie, Pennsylvania, and an hour to downtown Cleveland, the area remains quiet, not overly built and commercialized.

You can enjoy a full meal cooked in the ample kitchen (with full-size refrigerator and gas oven, plenty of kitchenware); cable tv in the living room with fireplace (fold-out couch for one person sleeping) with a sliding glass door leading to the deck overlooking Lake Erie. There is an enclosed porch with a cute tiki bar.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed and dresser. The second bedroom features a trundle with a twin mattress bed on top, and a twin mattress below, dresser storage, and Roku TV. The garage is used for storage is not available to guests.

Newly installed air conditioning August 2022. There are also ceiling fans in most rooms that work nicely with the lake breeze coming in for those days the AC is not needed.
Free wireless and a landline for local calls only are included with your stay.

Swimming is available at Walnut Public beach about five minute drive from the cottage. There is also a nice beach, swimming, and picnic areas at the Geneva State Park. We do not have a dock, however, boating is available at local marinas and Geneva State Park. We do not permit swimming or fishing at the cottage property.

Allison's Mini-Golf and Adventure Zone are also worth visiting. Jet skiing and kayaking offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling and mountain biking nearby.

Humiliating, with safety concerns. Never assume that a man who threatens to shoot you is harmless!

The house is in a grassy area with a few other houses. The instructions to find it were ambiguous, saying once we got through the chain we had to drive over the grass to get to the house. We got there after dark which was our mistake. We had a street number but none of the houses had a visible street number. So we drove to several houses on the grass as there are no roads. We tried to call, but no answer. If the instructions had simply said “first house on the left after you get past the chain”, or a sketch, or a few traffic cones as barriers, the problem would have been avoided. Finally we found the house as a neighbor came over yelling that we drove over his grass. He said we ruined it and he’d called the police and we’ll pay for (although there was no evidence that we had done any damage). So the police showed up and the manager (Connie). The policeman said the guy wanted our insurance information, which we refused to give. The next day Connie, my wife and I met the elderly man. He was obviously confused, mixing us up with someone who had run into his retaining wall 3 weeks ago. I believe he wanted to soak us for his retaining wall, which we had nothing to do with us.Then he said “you’re lucky the police came, or I would have come after you with a shotgun“.The owner dismissed the incident as “he’s just a harmless 90 year old man, I don’t want problems with my neighors" We were afraid. She told us to get out & cancelled our stay. The manager, Connie, though was supportive,

Perfect R&R Spot

This comfortable cottage sits atop a hill overlooking Lake Erie. We enjoyed absolutely beautiful sunsets, bald eagles flying by and the sounds of the waves while relaxing on the large deck. It was perfect place to unwind with many great wineries and restaurants close by. The property manager was accessible, friendly and very helpful. We look forward to coming back!

Overall great trip!!

Other than the midges which swarmed us the first 2 days of our trip because apparently the first 2 weeks of June these little flying bugs are insane and show up in massive swarms so we weren’t able to utilize the outdoor area for the first half of our trip. A few of the neighbors told us this when we’re able to use the outdoor area the last 2 days of our trip. The AC quit working due to needing batteries however Connie was fast and efficient in getting over to replace the batteries and get the AC back on. Overall everything about the cottage was quaint, comfortable and clean with a lake vibe feel.

WONDERFUL!

This lakefront cottage is quite charming with a nautical ambience and well kept. The view is spectacular, and the sunsets leave nothing to be desired. The host's manager was so pleasant and thoughtful to every detail. I will definitely return!

For those who truly want to enjoy the peace of the lake scenery. A lovely quaint cabin - slow down and enjoy!! Watch for bald eagles (note immature eagles don’t have white heads!) and monarchs fluttering past from the expansive deck. Explore Ashtabula and wonderful nature trails!

Beautiful house and breathtaking views!

My sister and I stayed here for our third annual sister trip and it was simply gorgeous! You feel like your literally on top of the Lake. Sunsets were amazing and there’s a lot to do close by. We went and visited a bunch of waterfalls and covered bridges. The restaurant which is totally walkable called Allesandros a little Italian place was delicious! We would so come here again!!!

Relaxing Stay

This cottage is perfectly situated on Lake Erie and we enjoyed several beautiful sunsets from the spacious, quiet deck. A perfect place for us to kick back and relax, read, and visit several of the great wineries in the area. It’s clean, quaint and comfortable. This was not our first time staying here and it definitely won’t be our last. If you’re looking for peace and quiet or a home base for exploring all the fun in the area, this is the place.
