I’ve stayed at a lot of VRBO‘s over the years and this is the one of the most immaculate and well decorated and maintained places I’ve been. The owner made sure we were well informed of the procedures and nuances and was genuinely concerned that our stay would be nice. And it was. This is a property to which we will definitely return.

I’m originally from Abbeville but now call Atlanta home. Much of my family still lives in the area, and our lakehouse is right next door. We bought this place almost two years ago and have loved every step of turning it into what it is today. Every detail of the renovation was done with guests in mind—to create a space that’s indulgent but never pretentious, where you can truly unwind and connect with each other in a comfortable and beautiful setting.

Why they chose this property

We’ve loved this cove for nearly 20 years, so it felt natural to create a place where others could experience it too. Just over two hours from Atlanta and a little more than an hour from Greenville, it’s close enough for a quick getaway—yet far enough to feel truly away. It’s peaceful here, with calm waters, great fishing, and deer often wandering by. The pace is slower, the air feels fresher, and it’s the kind of spot where you can truly step away from the noise and recharge.

What makes this property unique

Honestly, there’s nothing else like this on the lake. Every detail was chosen with comfort and style in mind—from the modern design to the expansive screened porch that’s truly the heart of the home. Here, you can dine alfresco, curl up on the sofa, or claim one of the coveted loungers for an afternoon nap. A large, tilting flat-screen TV, electric fireplace, and flush-mount ceiling heaters make the space inviting year-round, while the pass-through kitchen window keeps snacks and drinks close at hand. Just outside, two balconies—each with a high-top table—offer more spots to sip or snack, one with a hot tub perfectly positioned so you can watch your favorite show while soaking under the stars. All of this overlooks quiet, beautiful Sunset Cove—a backdrop designed for connection, comfort, and unwinding at your own pace.
