We were very comfortable and enjoyed the view from the front deck. The kitchen was
well supplied and had everything we needed. There were six adults and we were able to have our privacy. Thank you.

Joyce - we loved having you and your family! You were wonderful guests and we'd love to have you back, anytime!! Glad you were able to enjoy our home!
The views from morning till night do not disappoint. Spent much time out on the deck overlooking the bay and city. Kitchen well stocked. Comfortable beds.
Beautiful views of the SF Bay. Private back patio and front deck. Spacious home with 3 full baths and and bedrooms with additional places to sleep. Photos depict property accurately. Very responsive host met all our needs and left us wine and coffee! Well equipped home but worn (chipped dishes, stained towels, worn and stained carpets). No railings where stairs were present. We had a wonderful stay here and upgrades would make this property even more desirable.

Thank you for the review Lynn! It was so nice meeting all of you! Due to your comments, we are replacing the towels and dishes ASAP. We are working on the carpet and hope to replace that soon, as well. We appreciate the comments as they help us improve the property for future guests. Thank you, again!

Primary residence minimally prepared as a rental - lots of personal photos, clutter, clothes, etc. (only 2 drawers and about 2 feet of hanging space to use for a 3 week stay- most of the family had to live out of a suitcase). Older home, not well maintained, and needed repairs. Owners remote in Nevada and relied on a handyman/friend who misrepresented trying to contact us to justify unreasonably long delays in repair work. 13 days to replace a broken BBQ (in unusable pieces when we arrived) and a moldy stinking toilet seat in the master bathroom. BBQ is a big deal for a summer rental for us - home listed with a functioning BBQ. Toilet anchor bolts and wax seal were broken - owner refused to repair and then filed an insurance claim after we left claiming we abused and broke the anchor bolts on the toilet. Of note, we did not ask for a discount for the above hassles and figured it was just unfortunate circumstances. Also, of concern the handyman/friend on the day of our departure parked 20 feet from the driveway and sat in his car without saying a word to us and stared at my family for almost half an hour as we packed the car - just creepy and a bit concerning as we have kids. To date, we have had several great VRBO experiences at other properties and this one bad experience, so we will continue to use VRBO.

These guests are high-maintenance scammers, and did cause us for the first time to file an insurance claim. The renter Michael, in front of our friend who was there to repair the toilet, twisted and shook the toilet seat so violently that it came right up off the floor. Never once have we had an issue with the toilets, and a quick skim of previous reviews will verify that. Never once have we had a guest intentionally damage property until now!
We responded to the multiple and continued requests within hours, every time; we were so responsive in fact that the wife complained about our friend being there so quickly (??). We bought them a brand-new BBQ, we bought them a brand-new toilet seat, nothing was ever enough for these guys.
It is true that our friend was waiting for them to leave, but only because we were turning the house for other guests, and these guests left considerably later than the designated and well-publicized checkout time. He assumed they would be gone by the time he arrived.
This is not our primary residence, we do have photos out, and we have plenty of space for clothes - we have guests stay for longer terms than this with no complaints.
Also of note, the reservation is made under a different name than this review - so their bad behavior and negative reviews won't show up for future property owners - which is too bad, because you should never rent to them.

Great views and location. House needs to be more clean and ready for guests.
The house has a great view and location. The tenants were super responsive.
Nevertheless, the house has old blankets on the living room that don't smell well, the fridge was at least 50% full of food of the current tenants (not talking about ketchup or mustard).
When we arrived there was not a single towel, to dry hands or shower anywhere and no soap to wash your hands or shampoo/soap for shower. We had to talk to the owners to know where the towels and soap were.
The towels are mostly old and scrubby.
The house was visited, in its outdoors, twice with any permission, like if the owners have the right to enter when they want to a property you rent. Personally I find this disrespectful of privacy. In the same context, the day we were leaving (at 9:30am), a young gentlemen, was laying at the outdoor chaise, again without knocking or giving notice.

I've noticed that about 1/10 guests on these sites are people I wouldn't host again. This is one of them. It's typically a bad sign when the first request, even before arrival, is for a big discount, which we ultimately didn't grant.
I agree with certain items in this review. Others I don't:
1. The house does have stunning views of San Francisco;
2. The location being nestled along the shore in Marin County is fantastic;
3. I'm an extremely responsive Host.
What I don't agree with is:
1. Lack of soap products. I have more than most hotels. Many Home Away owners don't provide these. I have plenty, and these were personally set out in the bathrooms in advance. When guests run out, we have an entire closet full of additional new and unused toiletries for guest use.
2. There is regular service for gardeners, garbage and pest control. I'm not changing the frequency of these services as they are necessary for proper maintenance of the house. Further, I'm not sure when we are there, when guests will be there, when it will be empty, etc. The guest maintains that no service professional should be there while he's there. This is simply not reasonable. Hotels constantly have regularly scheduled service, as do most hosts.
3. The towels and blankets are what I use, and blankets are cleaned between each guest. The towels are regularly updated, however, we will look and see if some are worn.
4. Food that is perfectly good I save for the next person. Our definition of "perfectly good" includes eggs that are still fresh, yogurt and other dairy products that are unopened and unexpired, freshly bought produce, etc. We have a very liberal check-in policy that allows individuals to book within a 24 hour notice.
We don't intend to throw out perfectly good, brand new food. Why waste it? Guests have the option to use it, or not.
5. No idea who the kid was on the deck. I have four children and many friends with kids.
Do yourself a favor. Don't Host this person.

Waking Up to San Francisco Skyline
We were a three generation family looking to get out of the desert of Las Vegas for awhile. Couldn't have chosen a better place to do that. Our ten days in your home were great. The house was very comfortable and close to nearby ferries to get back and forth across the bay. It was hard to come back home to the searing heat. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Pat, we loved having you! We're glad you found the home comfortable, and glad that the ferries worked out! We take them ourselves when we head into the City - it's such a wonderful way to travel! You were a great group and we'd love to host you again in the future. Thanks for the kind words - Michael & Kristen
