About this property
Barber Pointe Cottage
When you think of an idyllic lake getaway, you might conjure images of gorgeous views, swimming off of the dock, use of water toys like kayaks and a paddle boat, and of course, roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Barber Pointe offers all of this and beyond. As our moniker suggests, we're on a point, and the view is truly 180°. Facing west puts the stunning sunsets in full view. You won't get any closer to the water than this.
The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is the expansive and unobstructed west facing view across Otter Lake. Nearly the entire front of the cottage is windows. What makes this especially spectacular is that the water is literally a couple of steps from the deck. As beautiful as the sunsets are, if you find yourself up early, head to the north side of the property and look east. You might just catch a sunrise.
The layout of this 1960’s design has the bedrooms in the back, which provides great privacy if you have guests or little ones napping. The front of the cottage is a wide-open concept with a ridge beam spanning the full length. The three-piece bathroom has a modest stand-up shower, sink, and toilet on septic. The entire cottage is appropriately clad in painted white shiplap pine paneling.
At night, enjoy the fire pit, bordered by upright composite Adirondack chairs. Accompanying the seating is a Nordik-style fire bowl for making smores or just gazing at the flames. Enjoy the dark, or turn on the outside lights to fully illuminate the fire pit area with Edison bulb string lighting.
There are two good-quality kayaks, a paddle board, and a paddle boat for use during your stay. You can launch these from the gradual entry behind the fire pit to cruise the lake and take in the bucolic scenery. There's also a large foam swimming mat, affectionately known as the grilled cheese. It's a slice of fun for adults and kids alike.
For those chilly spring and fall evenings, turn on the wall mounted pellet stove for a natural and clean heat. Ignition is as simple as the press of a button. Enjoy the flames as you stay cozy with a book, board game, or conversation. There is also a flat screen television with BluRay and DVD player, along with a wide and eclectic selection of movies for rainy days.
We're well-equipped to welcome kids too. We have a Pack N Play crib with mattress, fold-up highchair, Bumbo seat, potty, and plenty of toys and colouring activities. You will have full access to the entire lot. The shoreline wraps around the point and provides great entertainment for kids searching for frogs. We also just completed a kids play deck, built atop a stump, dubbed the Rainbow Lookout. If you have a boat, there's a launch just a minute down the road. Please ask first before docking in front of the cottage. It can get rough on the lake, and larger boats may not be suitable.
