We had a great time staying in The Mansion. It was interesting to look at the various documents displayed throughout the home. It's a bit out of town, but that is what makes it charming. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of linens. We cooked all meals and found the kitchen was supplies with everything we needed. Unfortunately it rained very hard the entire weekend we were there which made it impossible to explore the grounds. We would definitely come back.

Antique home stay…
The place is quite large and roomy. As everything was very nice and laid out to reflect the antique home. We enjoyed the quietness and relaxed stay. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of the past and reminisce of days gone by of how the territory was developed. We even journeyed over to the old stage coach house in Chireno from the upstairs bedroom picture and dreamt of many days gone by. Beautiful place as we loved our stay but we wished for more time to enjoy the pond and all the features around the outside of the home. A must for history lovers and those wanting to step back in time with this beautiful place that served us well as it was a very clean and comfortable stay.

From the owner: “Thank you for the very kind review! Please do come again. We would love to host you and your family in the future!"
The property was what we wanted. Private location on a 1000 acres. They just need to seriously upgrade the cookware, Silverware and Glasses. They were really gross. The only other issue were the bath towels. Super old and and not enough for group of 8. We would stay at the property again if these issues were addressed!! Great house!

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
- We offer a wide range of glassware, stemware, coffee cups, China, mixing bowls, and stoneware for our guests to use. While they may not always be 8-piece matching sets, rest assured that they are all clean and ready for your convenience.
- We completely understand that with a larger group of 6-8 guests or more, the availability of bath towels might run short. We have recently added new bath towels, hand towels, and bath cloths. Also, we purchased a new set of silverware, added cookware, and a 12-piece set of drinking glasses to enhance the experience for our future guests. However, we do provide a laundry room equipped with a washer and dryer, so you can conveniently freshen up your towels during your stay.
- Our team takes great pride in maintaining a clean and well-manicured yard and home for our guests to enjoy. We sincerely apologize for any discrepancies in our kitchenware, towels, and linens. We will promptly conduct a thorough inventory to ensure everything is up to par.
As always, we appreciate our guest’s suggestions so they can be completely comfortable and happy with their stay.
These grounds are BEAUTIFUL, so peaceful, relaxing, the gardens were so well kept, like a story book! The history is amazing!
We had 10 people stay for my daughter’s SFA graduation and they all want to return, because it was such a wonderful place to stay, so relaxing and peaceful. (It was about 15 minutes south of Lufkin and about 25 more minutes to Nacogdoches, but we’ll worth the drive!
We will be back♥️.
Great coffee bars, teas, salt and pepper, dish soap, dish washer soap, everything available, creamers! It was Fantastic.
I hate to even list the smallest issue, if you plan on cooking, bring your own pots and pans!
Other than that, simply Devine and you will not be disappointed!
I hate to give a good review, because I would love to keep the house as our families secret hideaway!
Thank you for making this event so Fabulous ♥️🎉🥳.
What a gorgeous property! The photos are great but really don't do it justice, so much more beautiful in person. Our 3 yr old granddaughter was delighted to explore the grounds with SO many things to see. It was the perfect place to stay for a nearby family wedding. Thanks again for a fantastic weekend.
Just like an Andy Griffith show! Friendly people. Fishing in the pond out back. Beautiful historic home. Adventures all over the area like renting a boat on Sam Rayburn lake. A true gem of a find that is like stepping back 70 years into a different time.
The home is very remote, you're neighbors are a long ways off across fields. People rarely drive by the small rural paved road. Idyllic place to sit in the gazebo, watching the sun rise or set with friends and family. Enjoy a different historic way of life.
The Mansion at Sawmill was a wonderful retreat for our family. The home is spacious and well-kept. Every amenity was offered and we look forward to returning for another visit.

We had a family gathering in Huntington and some of our family stayed here. It was perfect! What a beautiful property! The Inn keepers were so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed! Neil made breakfast for us on Sunday and it was great!!
