About this property
Secluded River Cabin Retreat with Outdoor Bathhouse and Kayaks
Looking for a place to get away from it all? Don't want any neighbors nearby? Thunder Mountain Cabin-in-the-Woods is the perfect secluded retreat for anniversaries, honeymoons, or just a quiet place to escape by yourselves. Enjoy views of the river and Ouachita Mountains from the wrap around porch while you drink your morning coffee. Swim, kayak, tube, or paddle boat alone in the wide section of river. Hike four miles of trails through 80 acres of pine forest and hills. Bathe in the private outdoor bathhouse while enjoying the secluded view. There is no chlorinated pool, but the clear river and bathhouse are even better!
The deck includes a grill and patio furniture, as well as two porch swings and chairs. There are 118 steps down to the river since the cabin sits high above the surrounding hills. The views on the way down are beautiful, and the hike on the way back up will leave you breathless! :-)
Both sides of the river are part of the property, and no other cabin or home sits on the 80 acres to help provide that true secluded get-away experience! The property enjoys 1/3 mile of riverfront and has about 4 miles of private trails.
Other things to note: -Dogs for couples without kids will be considered if they do not shed, do not chew or scratch, and will be kept clean. A pet fee is required. Please contact owner before booking or insure that your booking includes the pet. -The final 1/2 mile to the cabin is a rough dirt road. A small suv or truck is recommended, but a car should be okay if the weather is dry. This is a cabin in the woods, so even though we strive to keep it very clean, you may encounter some spiderwebs, bugs, and other nature. -Three security cameras are located outside (Driveway area, Side of cabin, and toward the river. They may be turned off.

We only life a couple of hours away, but this place sure seemed a world away! We had everything we needed for a great little get away. We were able to bring both our dogs (with permission) only two adults staying. We enjoyed the seclusion and trails. The views were spectacular! Want to come back when we can take advantage of being in and on the water!
Really enjoyed our stay here! The outdoor bath house overlooking the creek was awesome. The cabin was stocked way better than any other VRBO we’ve rented before. Very remote but we had no visitors even tho we stayed on Friday the 13th lol! Floating the Caddo was a bonus. Will definitely visit again.
Seriously couldn't have asked for a better place to visit. If anything, the property and scenery is better than advertised. What a beautiful place to visit!
Mu daughter and I took a trip to Arkansas over Thanksgiving. This place was perfect! The owner was amazing and easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again, during the summer.
This was our second time here and it was a great as we remembered. They cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The river and property give plenty of things to do and you most likely will never see another person! We will continue to visit here !

This property was everything I envisioned based on the photos, plus some! The cabin was spotless and had the best stocked kitchen I've seen. The property was beautiful and trails were clean. They literally have thought of every need here!

We're glad you had a nice stay! There is definitely a lot of wildlife around so hopefully you'll see more next time. We've spotted lots of deer, racoons, bobcats, and even black bear once in a while. Can't beat the outdoor bathhouse once you realize how secluded it feels! Thanks for being our guests!
The property is amazing. The host was very helpful. The river and outdoor area of this place are fantastic. We spent all of our time either on the water or on the decks.
Absolutely beautiful! Quite, Peaceful, Solitude in a truly inviting and comfortable cabin. Everything the listing claims it to be & MORE! Already looking to return for another awesome stay.

Thank you, Dale! We look forward to hosting you again soon! I agree that the solitude and peacefulness really makes the cabin and property a great place to get away.
So many amenities. Lots of yard games; croquet, ladder ball. Complete seclusion. Beautiful views. Rustic and has everything you need except your meals and snacks. My family played and laughed and we didn’t leave. So much to explore. So many different areas to hang out. River was crystal clear and so enjoyable. Highly recommend morning outdoor shower with coffee.
Everything was exactly as described. spew. and quite and secluded. The cabin was stocked with all you need. I’m glad we were fully prepared for the steps! we truly enjoyed every minute of our stay.
This was everything we hoped for and more! The place is fantastic, the vibes are immaculate. If you want to get away in a comfortable way, this is the spot!! Mr. Todd was a very excellent host and the property is fantastic for nature lovers who want somewhere cozy to return to at the end of the day. Great for a small group to spend time with each other away from the hustle and bustle of daily life!
This was one of the most amazing experiences my wife and I had the privilege of staying at. The property is beautiful and secluded and so peaceful. I can’t say enough good things about it. Thanks Todd for sharing your special place with us. We are already planning for our next trip.

Thank you, Lamar! We're happy that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. Come back soon!
Just stunning... loved the view, hiking trails, kayaking on the river. Cabin was cozy and deck was awesome. Beware lots of stairs to climb down and up from the river. Built camp fires in the fire pits on top by the cabin and down by the river. Just perfect for the cool weather at night. Love love love!!
We loved everything about this place. The host was very communicative and accommodating. The seclusion and tranquility was amazing. It was 100+ degrees the entire time, so we very rarely left the river. The stairs down/up from the river are definitely not for the faint of heart. We would definitely book again.

We're happy you loved the seclusion and tranquility of the property!
Beautiful and peaceful place to stay. We are in our 50's and it was perfect for a relaxing getaway. If you bring children or teenagers (it was just the two of us), it might be better to come in the summer because there is more to do with the river. It was perfect for us though.

About the host
Hosted by Todd
We're a family of 4 who enjoy hiking and river activities. We enjoy sharing our cabin with friends and guests. We grew up in Missouri, live in Texas, vacation in Arkansas. We love getting away from it all and enjoying the clear, secluded S.Fork Caddo River!
Why they chose this property
This cabin is the perfect place to escape from the city and enjoy being alone in nature. We love being outdoors and enjoy relaxing in the hammock, sitting on the back porch, swimming in the river, or kayaking. We love people, but when we are on vacation, we'd rather see nature than other humans. We get to be completely on our own at the cabin!
What makes this property unique
The seclusion and outdoor bathhouse are a unique feature of the property! You will enjoy relaxing in the tub or shower in a private, yet close to nature setting. Honeymooners, anniversary couples, or anyone looking for something different will love the feeling of freedom that comes with an outdoor bathhouse, and with the seclusion around the cabin. Four miles of private trails wind through the pine and hardwood forest on both sides of the river.
