The loft is situated on the top floor of our beautiful traditional stilted wooden longhouse located at the outskirts of Chiang Rai. Yet it's only a mere 10 km to downtown Chiang Rai, walking distance (900 meters) to the famous Black House Museum and 2 km to the vibrant university area with numerous shops, restaurants and markets, it offers a great experience enjoying rural Thai life and nature.
The space The house is built in traditional Northern Thai architectural style using reclaimed wood from old houses and consists of 2 lofts on the first floor and 1 room at ground floor level. Your loft offers almost 55 m2 of living space with a very spacious bedroom, stylish private bathroom and very large private terrace. Maximum occupancy is 2 persons. As it is built on stilts, you experience superb views over the surrounding rice fields and mountains.
Guest access In addition to your large private terrace, you can enjoy 2 other covered terraces and our large (1 acre) lush tropical garden with Thai salas (pavilions), full of bird-life next to a creek with mountain views and sunsets. Throughout the premises you can enjoy free WiFi.
Other things to note Breakfast is not included in the room rate but we can make something really tasteful for you with freshly brewed organic coffee or tea at a fair price. We can also offer home-cooked authentic Thai dinner.

About the host
Hosted by Kallaya Wannasri
I am a Chiang Rai native, and my home-stay Bambuh Boutique grew from a personal decision to slow down and reconnect with the lifestyle I grew up with. What started as empty land gradually became a one-acre forest garden that I shaped step by step over the years. Along the way, I rebuilt traditional Thai wooden stilt houses and combined them with modern architecture, using reclaimed wood wherever possible to preserve their character and reduce environmental impact. Bambuh is a small, family-run place rather than a traditional hotel. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and sharing a more personal and relaxed way to experience Chiang Rai. My aim is simply to offer the kind of stay I would appreciate myself: calm, comfortable, natural, and respectful of the local environment and way of life.
Why they chose this property
Bambuh is located just outside Chiang Rai city centre in a quiet, natural setting that offers a slower and more local side of the region. The property is surrounded by villages, rice and pineapple fields, foothills, a hill-tribe village, local waterfalls and forest areas, with direct access to the countryside right from the property. What I enjoy most about the area is the balance between tranquility and convenience. Guests can relax in the garden, spend time in the pavilions or on their balcony, and experience everyday Thai life around us, while still being within easy reach of the city and its attractions. Many of Chiang Rai’s main sights are outside the centre anyway, so Bambuh works well as a peaceful base for exploring places like the Black House Museum, which is even walkable from the property.
What makes this property unique
What makes Bambuh different is the meaning and intention behind it. The property combines traditional Thai wooden houses with modern rooms, reflecting how I see life in northern Thailand today: rooted in tradition while adapting to the present. The wooden houses are part of my heritage and were carefully rebuilt using reclaimed wood wherever possible. Bambuh is not designed as a resort, but as a place with character, simplicity, and a strong connection to nature and local life. Sustainability is approached in practical ways through refillable bathroom products, organic coffee and tea, energy-efficient lighting, natural materials, and locally sourced items where possible. Guests often tell me they appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, the forest garden, and the feeling of staying somewhere personal rather than commercial. It offers a quiet place to slow down while still being a convenient base for exploring Chiang Rai and the surrounding countryside.
