Had an absolute blast in this beautiful cabin. The cabin was well maintained, managed, and clean. The host was very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. Was just a short drive from Breckenridge which was perfect.

Thanks so much, Christopher! We appreciated having you and your group at the cabin and glad it met your needs - we'd love to have you back again!
We loved our get-away at this lovely house with great amenities! We’d definitely stay there again. It was hiking weather, not quite skiing weather yet. Fantastic hiking nearby!

Thanks, Carolyn! You all were terrific - please come back anytime!
We found urine in the beds that was not cleaned before our arrival. The host did not handle it appropriately, and was pretty awful to deal with. He also asked to come to the house 3 separate times during our stay. Which we felt was intrusive. The house was nice, but we don’t recommend staying here because of the host.

VRBO has heard this case extensively, acknowledging that this is a common type of scam and that this guests’ claims and demands were not accurate or reasonable. We are actively trying to get it removed. VRBO assured me multiple times, verbally and in writing, that they would not post this guests’ review since it is full of false claims, however the system let it through, so I'm forced to respond.
This guest & his family (including 3 young children), rented the home for 14 nights over the holidays. His children wrote a lovely note in our guestbook about their fun family trip. The entire house; games, kitchen, & living areas were well used. The house was not left in particularly good condition - the kitchen was messy & there were game pieces & trash scattered around the house. Not egregious, but certainly not neat or tidy, capable of making a spill. Following check-out, the guest began demanding to VRBO that he receive a full refund for his 2-week stay for a stain that was found in a bed around departure time. No acknowledgement that the stain could have come from anyone in his young family, no reasonable conversation with me, no evidence, nada. Blindly demanding a full refund for an entire 2 week stay - post check-out.
The stain the guest brings up; there was no way to tell when it occurred or what kind of a stain it was, it could have easily been a spilled drink or anything. I fully believe it came from this guest & his family during their stay, as it was large enough that our cleaners and myself would have noticed it during our turnover prior to this guests’ arrival. It’s normal practice & procedure. The stain came out immediately after our stain removal treatment & washing, which generally means it was fresh and not setting for multiple weeks. All of the linens in the house are new & we have plenty of extra sheets available if anyone needs them. All beds, in addition to the rest of the home, are fully cleaned & thoroughly inspected between each guest - it’s something we take seriously & work that is taken care of right away, just like we did the day this guest & his family left.
The 3 times I checked in with this guest before/during their 14-night stay:
(1) A few days ahead of his arrival to see if he would like to schedule a mid-stay cleaning by our professional cleaning crew - which was declined.
(2) Mid-way through his 14 day stay to ensure all was going well, that they didn’t need any supply restocking, etc. 14 days is a long time for strangers to be in a home without checking in on them. It felt like a good way to try and be helpful, supportive and proactive on any maintenance needs.
(3) Finally, after a heavy snowfall with a handful of days left in their stay, when I asked if it would be okay to shovel the decks and walkway, since if it gets neglected, ice can build up and become difficult to manage - which was accepted.
I appreciate the feedback, take it to heart & consideration, and my apologies to this guest if my customer service approach felt overbearing or invasive.
Last thing I’ll mention about this situation is when this guest and I met briefly while I was shoveling, his family was nice, however he was not friendly, even avoidant - it struck me as strange. His choice to not speak with me about any issues, instead demanding a full refund through VRBO after his 14-night stay had ended, in which his family clearly had a wonderful time, has been bizarre, insulting & has felt like this person has been trying to take advantage of us for the past 3 weeks to get a payout or free trip. I really am quite reasonable, as many would confirm, and nothing about this guest has been easy to reason with or communicate with. Obviously, no one wants interactions like this, you just hope they are few and far between, which thankfully they are.
Since hosting this home, our cleaning record has been terrific, please have a look at any of our other reviews on VRBO and AIRBNB. As a small business owner, it is imperative that I handle these matters promptly and professionally so our next guests can have just as good of an experience as our first guests. Working with our professional cleaners, we do our absolute best to provide a clean, welcoming environment for each and every one of the folks that stays with us. If there are any issues with the home, I make myself entirely available throughout the duration of our guests stay and try to make things right by them. I truly love hosting up here in Summit County. I have been doing it for a long time at several homes in the Breckenridge area, and always take pride in facilitating trips & providing beautiful homes for folks that come a long way to be here to enjoy.
I am appreciative of VRBO for their support throughout much of this process, and again, hope they ultimately remove both of these posts.
If any future guests have any questions regarding this situation, or anything regarding renting this beautiful mountain home, please contact me. Thanks, Doug
This home is pure peace and joy! From the moment we arrived, we could feel the love of the wonderful family who shares it. Doug, the property manager, was always kind and quick to respond, which made everything so easy. The house itself is cozy, comfortable, clean and filled with thoughtful touches. You'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and we found ourselves wishing we could stay longer. This is more than a place to stay. It's a family's cherished home, and you can feel that in every corner. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed and with full hearts. If we could we would give 10 stars!

Thank you for staying with us, Dina! It was great meeting you and Matt. We greatly appreciate your feedback and kind words, and are so glad you enjoyed the home. We can't wait to have you back again!
Such an awesome place to stay for our spring break trip! Pristinely clean (and I’m picky!), kitchen well stocked but still room for storing food, comfortable for our family of 5 plus a couple who stayed a few nights with us. The layout of bedrooms & bathrooms worked so well, so comfortable! Hot tub was used multiple times a day, easy to get in and out even in winter. The property borders national forest, we saw a fox from the hot tub! Front deck was also a popular hangout, warm and sunny in the late morning. Great location, feels so remote but only 10 minutes to Breckenridge.Doug was super responsive and helpful throughout the trip. Pointed us to neat hikes and Platte Ranch for the best horseback riding experience we’ve ever had.

About the host
Hosted by Doug Zaideman
Hi there, my name is Doug and the I'm owner of Red Fox Property Management - a small PM company I've started over the years. I'm originally from Chicago, and I moved to the mountains of Colorado shortly after a midwestern college education. Breckenridge has been home, on and off, since 2009. Outside of property management, I have spent many years as an educator, trip leader and/or guide for various adventure travel companies, Gap Year organizations, and fly-fishing outfits that have given me the opportunity to take people on incredible trips and programs all over the world. These days, I live full-time in Breckenridge and can be found out enjoying our wild spaces doing a variety of outdoor activities that I pursue. I love helping people explore new places, which is why hosting is such a great fit for me - I'm here to help if you could ever use some local advice!
Why they chose this property
I help manage a few friends and family's homes here in the Breckenridge area, and what I love about this house is how much the home means to the owners here, and how much enjoyment it gets to bring them as a family. I'm proud to help them with their dream home, and help it become a dream vacation for our guests.
What makes this property unique
I love the feeling of being very secluded and peaceful in this gorgeous alpine setting, while also knowing I have all of the food and fun in Breckenridge just a few miles down the road. Breckenridge is one of the great ski towns, and to be able to go enjoy that and have a serene place to go back to is really special. The home shares the street with a few other houses, but they are spaced out and not in view from any of the main living areas and bedrooms. It's a perfect place for a small group to come and relax after a day out exploring the beautiful natural surroundings Summit County has to offer.
