This was the perfect place for our extended family to stay together under one roof. We enjoyed grilling and family meals together and just hanging out in the living room talking and playing games. We walked around and saw the cows. The sun porch is lovely. Our beds were clean and comfortable. a great place - would come again
Friends and family, nine of us, stayed here. We were shooting in a national archery tournament in Yankton SD. The house and bedrooms were perfect. Very clean. Everyone had a great time and we enjoyed our stay.

It was our pleasure to host Ann, her family and friends while they attended the Archery tournament in Yankton. They’re welcome anytime. We’ve had a number of Archery enthusiasts/competitors are they’re 1st class guests!
We attended a wedding in Yankton, during the hottest 3 days in history, over 100 degrees.Everything worked out perfectly..thank you Linda for a great stay.
Thanks Dale! We were honored to be able to host you and your family. Come back anytime! Have a great fall. Marty & Linda

Writer's retreat
We held our writer's weekend retreat here and it was perfect for us to work and focus on our writing and sharing with each other, enough room for us to gather and to also go off and write by ourselves. We would recommend it.

Holly and her friends were perfect guests. They left the house spotless. They each left us a note of thanks, which is so kind. We definitely recommend this group and hope they will stay with us again.
The FarmHouse Inn was just perfect for 6 ladies celebrating a 30th class reunion. It was spacious with so many bedrooms and had everything we needed plus more. 2 bathrooms with showers and a large kitchen and family room.....plus being out in the peace and quiet of the country made it the perfect place to all hang out. We loved it💞💞👍

Nice large farm house with character
We really enjoyed our stay at the FarmHouse. We had a larger group for our family Christmas and the place was large enough to accommodate all of us. Linda was fantastic working with us prior to check-in and making sure we had everything we needed. It was cool being in the farm house as it remined us all of being in our Grandparents farm house. Sun room was really nice and provided a little extra room for the kids to hang out. The adults took some time to take the very short drive over to the Outlaw winery and had a very nice time there as well. Overall it was a great place to stay.

We are so pleased the FarmHouse Inn worked for the Jansen family Christmas gathering. They were very easy to communicate with and left the house in great shape. I enjoyed meeting Del and would love to have them come again. Being able to accommodate family celebrations and community/organization's gatherings is why we love being hosts and sharing our home.
Going to Dakota Days and nothing left in Vermillion. Lots of space and lovely home! The host left a bottle of wine for us from local winery which was such a nice touch. The barn cat was friendly. Lots of cows and sky everywhere!
For our family, kids and grandkids this was an excellent place to stay and to enjoy!
The property was everything it was advertised. If there was anything we needed it was at the property.

We hope that our guests will let us know if there is something they need and we will do what we can provide it. We note what we need/want when our family stays at a vacation rental to inform us as to what we can do for our guests. We also welcome suggestions.
It was great to be able to have a large group of family members staying together in one house. I was thinking it was a little closer to Yankton, but it worked ok.

The house does work well for families to stay together, as well as have large family dinners. It is 20 minutes from Yankton and a little further to Lewis & Clark recreation area. The farm is within 10-15 miles to Hartington, Crofton, Wynot, Coleridge and other small communities in the area, plus it's only 35 miles from Vermillion, SD and Ponca State Park.

Very nice, very clean. We would definitely stay again.
Need more things to do outside like horseshoes or Cornhole. Outside around the place should be made more inviting.
Comfortable beds, nice accommodations and we had a great time.

We enjoyed having Jeff and his family stay at the FarmHouse Inn. We appreciate his suggestions and we are working on improving the area around the house. As this is our first year, we are still learning. We definitely want guests to be very candid and give us recommendations for ways to make it their stay more comfortable..
About the host
Hosted by Linda Kleinschmit
As 2024 kicks off our 7th season, we look forward to seeing old friends, making new ones and providing a space for families to celebrate and gather. We also look forward to having our family join us occasionally with our busy grandkids. Starting in 1947, 3 generations of Kleinschmits have called the FarmHouse home. Cletus and Mary Kleinschmit built it and we are now the caretakers. We're are grateful to be able to share it with you and with your support, it will be here for their great, great grand children and future generations.
Why they chose this property
The location of the FarmHouse Inn is very central, being within a radius of 10-30 miles of 5-6 towns and a great deal of recreational facilities. It is also easy access, being on a state highway, but still in the country. It's quiet, can watch the stars, neighbors are at a distance. The home is filled with pictures, books, toys and other sundry items reminiscent of the family, to make you feel at home. One guest said, "The house is spacious, comfortably furnished, and extremely 'homey' (in the best way!)." Quoting another, "The house had a lot of room and allowed 12 of us to stay comfortably!" Please contact me know if you have any questions.
What makes this property unique
The FarmHouse is in a good location to visit villages along the Missouri: swimming and boating at Lewis and Clark Recreation Area by Yankton, USD Music Museum and wonderful eateries and breweries at Vermillion, SD. We're 9 miles north of Hartington to lay in supplies. If you're interested in seeing churches and their architecture is your thing, there's spectacular ones, starting with Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Bow Valley, just a few miles southeast. Be sure to stop at the Nissen Winery, just 2 miles southeast, for wine tasting.
