Stay in Southampton

We had a beautiful, quiet stay in this little cottage on the water. Gorgeous views, nice hikes nearby, and comfortable accommodations. Richard was a helpful and responsive host.

Our Stay at S.H. Cottage

We loved waking up to the exquisite serenity of the lake and environs. The cabin was clean and cozy and just steps from jumping in the water. Nice to have internet and a pretty good TV. Was also nice to have the option of cooking in the compact kitchen. The description was accurate, as were the photos. The owner came through with all our concerns and was friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning and highly recommend this Shangri-la to all !

amazing stay

We had another amazing stay at the lake side cottage. The lake is so beautiful with swans, ducks and fish... My daughter also caught lots of crabs in the bay nearby. It had been a perfect summer get away.

Peaceful lakeside cottage

We were delighted by the private, quiet beauty of the cottage and the lake. It was a wonderful spot to peacefully recharge. It is also centrally located, making it easy to explore the Hampton with a rental car. We'll look for an opportunity to come back!

Peaceful Cabin

This is an adorable little cabin on Big Fresh Pond! We came with another couple looking for a private place to relax in the Hamptons and the house totally fit the bill. Access to the lake with the kayaks was the main draw but the simple beauty of the cottage was a real pleasure. The place is sweetly appointed with a shabby chic vibe. You have everything you need to make a nice meal. It is small but cozy and lets face it most of your time here will be spent outside or sight seeing. You are close to fine dining in SagHarbor and South Hampton and a simple drive to everywhere else. Our favorite time was our trip to the North Shore, with wine tasting and delicious fresh lobster lunches as well as some shopping in the most unique little shops. Richard supplies you with everything you need, dish soap, dishwasher and laundry soap although you may want bring your own shower soap. The best thing is that he supplies you with good sea salt, a must for this foody group. This is a little gem!

Quite peace minutes from it all.

Absolutely wonderful cottage set in a storybook setting. My husband, son (5yo) and myself had a simply memorable time over a 6 day period. The house although small, lives perfectly with windows all around bringing the incredible outside, in. The pond was such a treat to swim and kayak in and the house was fully stocked with anything and everything needed. We had a few very warm days with no cross breeze, and we had 2 window a/c’s delivered within hours of a call to the PM. 8 minute drive to the Village of Southampton, 16 minutes to Coopers beach, 20 minutes to Sag Harbor and just over an hour to Montauk. A few reviews spoke about places to walk to, we found a short drive took us to restaurants infinitely better. All in all a perfect experience and we look forward to returning.

Very cozy, lake front, relaxing cottage

The location is nice and in walking distance from the North Sea general store and North Sea tavern. And short uber ride from downtown south Hampton. I highly recommend as I have stayed here three times already over the past 3 years.

Lovely stay!

We had four lovely days and three nights at this South Hampton retreat. The Tranquill lake front setting with beautiful swimming access is a perfect retreat. House is well appointed, cozy, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Location is close enough to town but private and secluded enough to really provide a sense of being away from it all. Will visit again! Thank you.

A GEM

I almost don’t want to say how much I enjoyed Richard’s home because then it will be booked solid for the rest of time but I sort of can’t believe it’s not! It was THE most incredible stay: the house is perfect, the pond is gorgeous, it’s so close to downtown Southampton... I have absolutely no complaints. We had the best time. Thank you and I can’t wait to be back!!!

We were very please with the lake house. Everything was very clean! The living room area was much bigger and so spacious compared to what the picture looks like. There are a lots of windows and ceiling fans that made the house feel so fresh. It was so nice to spend the day at the beach and enjoy the refreshing lake when returning. The lake was so peaceful and clean. We explored all around the lake and saw lots of deer and wildlife. My husband loved the privacy and the nature all around the house. Its located in a perfect spot with such a short trip to Southampton's beautiful beaches and town. We are looking forward to coming back!

Magical lake oasis with fireflies and butterflies

The lake house is such a magical, relaxing wonderful escape. We had an absolutely blissful time...the lake is marvelous - clean clear and warm with beautiful swans and Lilly pads with lotus flowers. And the yard is perfect for relaxing family BBQs. The house is super adorable and comfortable with everything you need. The whole experience was just perfect - we rent a lot of houses all over the world and this was our favorite yet!

Ideal setting for those wanting to enjoy nature and be on the water.

The cottage is charming and very true to the photos and slightly better. The views from the cottage to the water and yard are spectacular. We had dinner on the lawn each night with tablecloth and candles and enjoyed the bbq. There was a 2 person kayak and a paddle board that came with the property and sat next to the private dock. We used these often to explore the peaceful and private pond. I was able to swim in mid June; the water was nice! The best part was Milo though! The next door neighbor's black lab that adopted our family and played with my daughters. He literally paddle boarded with Lily and did not fall or jump off! We are naming our new puppy Milo after him :).

The perfect retreat

Spectacular sunsets great place to experience the Hamptons on a lake , the cottage filled with natural light and with all you need at your fingertips ,stroll to the deli or a restaurant Just 8 minutes from Southampton village by car we had a fabulous time just away from NYC escape.

Scerenity and sunsets

Such a find. Turn off the North Sea Road down a wooded gravel lane and scerenity awaits. The cabin was spotless. Wonderful natural light. Perfect quite at night makes for a full night's rest. Cable, wifi, everything easy and accessible. The lake is stunning and natural; no power boats allowed. No weeds and relatively deep make it swimmer's paradise. The sunsets are spectacular; soak them in while cooking on the BBQ or out in the kayak. A deli, Schmidts Market (great seafood and steaks), liquor store and North Sea Tavern (farm to table) is just a few minutes walk. Southampton Village is five minutes by car and multiple beaches less than 10 minutes away. My wife and I absolutely loved the place. We plan to make it an annual trip.

Wonderful Lakeside Retreat

My wife and I were looking for a break from the city. We wanted something low key but close enough to Southampton's main street. The cottage fit the bill. It was bright and cozy and the property was magnificent and well kept. If you're a lake person, you'll appreciate the experience.

Cozy house, wonderful location, great owners

The house is beautiful and very cozy and has a perfect location by the lake. The place is very quiet and relaxing, with a lot of light, a nice area of grass in front of the house with a BBQ and other amenities. The owners are really nice and helpful. The house is close to Southampton and it's easy to make excursions to the nearby beaches. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

A little piece of paradise

We spent a few weekends here and absolutely love this place. It is quiet and serene; you will get a great night sleep and wake up to the sound of birds chirping outside. A perfect getaway from the hectic NYC life. You can swim in the lake, go for bike rides, explore the waters with a kayak, or simply be lazy and read a book or nap in the hammock. Short drive to Main St in town for shopping and dining, but outdoor grilling at the cottage is a much better option. This place is a hidden gem of the Hamptons: away from crowds and very private. A truly idyllic location.

A Peaceful Retreat

I work 12 hour days in NYC during the week and this place is so peaceful and quiet. It is a wonderful place to unwind and relax. Simple and clean! I woke up to the birds chirping and sunlight beaming through the master bedroom window and living room. I got up every morning and went to swim in the fresh water pond. The water temperature was wonderful (I don't like cold). I then drove into town to get my coffee. When I returned I lay in the hammock and read the newspaper or my book. I sometimes went to the beach or strolled around town. In the evenings I bbq'd on the grille. Can't wait to come back.

Best in the Hamptons

This place was perfect for us, close to everything, but far from the "Hamptons." Great quiet setting. Owner was easy to deal with.

I have travelled the world and this my favorite place to swim. Soft, silky, clean water with nothing to hurt you. No motor boats allowed. Warmer than the ocean or bay.

Why they chose this property

. the property was renovated in 2012. A true hidden Hamptons jewel.

What makes this property unique

The Lake. No motor boats. Clean water. Sunsets.
Escape the traffic. Most guests like to spend better part of the day at the lake and visit ocean at off hours.
