Nice quiet dead-end neighborhood but still within easy reach of Dock Square. Beautiful house with views on both sides. Excellent kayaking, ocean beach across the street, great walking/running/biking neighborhood. I highly recommend this spot if you want to enjoy Kennebunkport.
The little location of this rental was in a quiet area but only a few minutes drive to block square and many other attractions. We all really enjoyed the wildlife, deer and many different birds that we saw right off the back deck after a day of adventure. Rental was just as described, I highly recommend it.
Sunsets over the Mousam and Moonrises over the Ocean
A wonderful coastal Maine getaway in a unique setting between a tidal backwater of the Mousam and a smooth stony private ocean beach. Relax watching the birds and deer of the estuary from the deck or kayak or hike along the wildlife refuge. Just close enough and far enough from downtown Kennebunkport. Just a short drive or walk to the public beaches from the cottage. A memorable vacation.
This is an incredible location situated between the open Atlantic and a tidal marsh. There are not many other locations—if any—in the area where you have water on both sides. As a result, the sunrise and sunset are immersive and magnificent. The cottage is classic, timeless New England and very cozy. It worked well for our family of four and the proximity to the beach was great.
What a lovely stay. The views were really beautiful and the walk to the beaches were an easy commute.
The cottage was as described and pictured and well equipped with beach chairs and linens.
Beth was awesome! She was readily available answering any questions and offering great suggestions for places to dine.
This was a perfect getaway with my husband for half of the week and with my adult daughter and 2 friends for the other half.
I highly recommend this property!

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. The cottage is very special and a lovely, quiet location to enjoy time with friends and family! Thanks!
There is so much character in this little cottage - its footprint belies its spacious feel because of the high ceilings and wonderful windows/views. It was such a joy looking out over the water, spying the different water birds, being visited by migrating monarchs, and going tide pooling with my daughter on the rocky beach across the street. The owner, Beth, was very kind and friendly, and has obviously taken great care of curating the objects and artwork throughout the cottage. How lucky to have this little gem of a place in her family, and I can see why her grandfather (or great grandfather?) would use the structure (once a garage with a writing room, I believe) to compose sermons. I may just try to write the next time I come back, as my daughter has already asked if we can visit again next year.

Thank you for your review -- it was my great-grandfather who used to write sermons in the back room. This is a treasured place!
The monarchs are still migrating through!

With unobstructed views of the ocean in the front and the estuary to the back you are surrounded by water and nature, glimpsing birdlife and taking in the most amazing sunsets.
The cottage, location and setting is truly a glimpse back in time. The cottage is original to the Great Hill neighborhood amongst other modest cottages for a truly authentic Kennebunk vibe.
The public beaches are right down the road and we made a point to visit all of them. Our favorite was actually a private beach Palmers, a nice stretch of white sand and space to spread out, which you can see from the cottage. I would also suggest Goose Rocks Beach in Cape Porpoise - what fun!
Both Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are only a couple miles in either direction from the cottage. Kennebunk is lovely, you’ll see historic estates and find all your necessities like a grocery store, pharmacy, etc. Kennebunkport has it all - restaurants most with waterviews, art galleries and beachy tourist shops (traps). We dined out most nights - Bastons is perfect for a rainy day, reminded me of pubs in Ireland. We loved Hurricane, food was excellent with beautiful water views. You most try the fried clams at the Clam Shack - they are famous for a reason!
There are many trails and sites to take in - Parsons Way is a great one - set along the rocky bluffs with majestic views.
It was a perfect vacation, we wish it was longer. Thank you for sharing your charming cottage with our family Beth!

I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and made memories with your family! The estuary in the back and the ocean in the front provides a peaceful vacation with amazing views.

The location of this property and the views were amazing. We used the kayaks on several days, which was both fun and easy. We also spent a-lot of time on the deck which had great views and sunsets! The double bed wasn’t very comfortable and was blocked in on 2 sides making access more difficult. Overall an amazing property!
We were three adults looking for a quiet place to enjoy for a week. We loved the cottage and the area. We used the kayaks to explore the salt marsh which was starting to show fall colors. Thank you for sharing you perfect little cottage!
Cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable. Wonderful location overlooking the bay and across the quiet street from the ocean. This was the second time we stayed here and hope to come again!
Amazing location and house…..only 1 bathroom was inconvenient as living area was on another floor…..kayaks included for use was great…..can put in right on the property….delightful!
You really can't beat the location with water on both sides. The cottage was small, but cosy, and had everything that our family would need, from beach towels and chairs to kayaks to books to read and games to play. Mother's beach was great as well and is either 10 mins walk or 2 min drive away.
We definitely hope to visit again.
We enjoyed our stay in this sweet little cottage. The views from the kitchen table and the back porch combined with proximity to the ocean and the amazing breezes coming off the ocean made this a wonderful stay. The beds were a little firmer than we would have liked, but otherwise we'd happily stay there again.
Amazing location, adorable cottage, peaceful time with family
We had never been to Kennebunkport and I’m so glad we took the plunge on a last-minute trip! Our family of four (two kids, ages 9 and 12) loved our time at this beach cottage. It’s small and cozy, the perfect size for us to both spend time together and have privacy from each other when we needed it. The location, across from a natural, rocky beach and right on a river/ nature preserve on a quiet street was almost unbelievable. We kayaked out back on the river and drove to four local beaches during our week’s stay. We explored the town, had a few great meals, and just relaxed. The cottage made for a perfect “home base,” the owner was super responsive to our questions about the area, and everything about the stay at the property was easy. We’d love to come back!!
Absolutely wonderful location, fantastic breezes through the upstairs. We loved this stay, only minor tweaks would have made it perfect. Beth was a great host.
Beautiful location and great cabin. Owners are amazing, clean and attentive.
Would have loved the wood stove working and should have the items that are on amenities removed that are not working. That said this place is amazing and is a Maine paradise. Well worth the price and The owner is great!

Thank you for the input regarding the amenities, we will work on removing or replacing them.
We are avid birdwatchers and so enjoyed the view of the marsh at low tide with egrets and herons feeding, bald eagles flying over, and sandpipers feeding in the mud flats. Each day we journeyed out to nearby birding spots in Cape Porpoise, Wells, etc. Sunset and sunrise were beautiful from the roof deck, also a fantastic place for viewing the stars each night. The little peninsula where the cottage is located has quite a few homes; yet it is a very quiet location, except for the sound of the ocean nearby. At high tide we launched kayaks from the yard's edge and enjoyed exploring the nearby Mousam River and its estuaries. A great location, cosy, and relaxing!
If you are looking for relaxation, beautiful views, sunsets, kayaking, beaches, bike riding, solitude, beautiful neighborhood, then this is the place for you. A rustic and simple place that had everything we needed. Beth was great and answered all our questions quickly. The deck was our favorite spot!
Quaint beach cottage in amazing location with beautiful views!
My husband and I stayed at this beach bungalow for a week and loved it! It’s located walking distance to all of the best beaches Kennebunkport has to offer, and provides guests with sweeping water views (on both sides of the house). Beth the owner was super helpful and responsive pre and during the trip, and the house came well-appointed for everything you need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend for a couple or small families!
Easy access to beach and town. Great views. Good walking neighborhood-very relaxing.

Why they chose this property
This property was purchased by my great-grandfather and it has been a treasured vacation spot for my family. We have had many happy memories from walking to Mother's Beach (1/2 mile along a quiet road) everyday to playing in the rocks at low-tide in front of the house looking for starfish. There are many fun activities to do!
What makes this property unique
This property is located on the ocean with a private rock beach in front of the house. A quick walk down the street is a sandy beach. An easy 1/2 mile walk down the street is a larger beach called Mother's Beach. There are many beautiful views of the ocean from the front of the cottage to the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge at the back of the cottage. The cottage allows for peaceful contemplation as you view the Mousam River or the ocean. The ocean is steps away in front of the house.
