Comfortable cottage getaway near Snæfellsjökull national park

Important notice: The cottage is NOT available for the solar eclipse on August 12. 2026. 93m2 house cottage on two floors. On the ground floor you'll find 2 bedrooms, one with a full sized bed, and the other with 2 single beds. The bathroom is well equipped with a washing machine, a dryer and a large shower. The living room is spacious, with a TV, DVD-player and dining table for 6 people. There is a modern kitchen with a built-in dishwasher. There is a large terrace that covers 3 sides of the house. On the upper floor you will find a sleeping loft with a queen size bed. The loft also has a wide variety of children toys.

There is a fire blanket located on the wall in the kitchen, there is also a first aid box located in the cabinet in the lobby.

This is a beautiful, private cottage in a lovely setting. The sea is on one side and glaciers on another. It is just outside a small town with multiple restaurants and very near the national park.

A Perfect Stay!

Our family of 6 had a perfect stay in Arnarstapi. Plenty of space for our large family, excellent kitchen, and close to so many sites in the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed for our stay! We hope to visit again, soon! Thank you for your hospitality.

Amazing Cottage with Ocean and Mountain Views

This was our favorite place to stay in Iceland. The town of Arnarstapi is peaceful, and the location and views can't be beat. One thing to note - you can see the ocean from this cottage! Views of the ocean on one side, and a glacier topped mountain view from the other side just can't be beat. The cottage was easy to check-in with a lock box, and was super clean. There is a no shoes policy inside, which we love since we do the same at our home. The cottage had everything we needed to cook meals, and do laundry while we were there (very nice since this was in the middle of our trip). The bed is really comfortable, and has all linens, towels, etc. that we needed. It was decorated very nice - and we loved the local rocks collected that were displayed in the window. The host was easy to communicate with, and was very helpful during our stay. We absolutely loved staying at this cottage and will definitely stay again next time we are in Iceland!

Olafur’s place was very nice. It was private from other houses, quite spacious and had most everything we needed. The view was amazing. The host gave wonderful directions and made us feel welcome. Very close to the coast great place to walk in the evening.

The cottage was lovely and spacious. Communication was great including a nice guide to the area. The views were absolutely spectacular. Wish we could have stayed longer. If we ever make it back to Iceland we’ll definitely try to stay again.

Absolutely perfect!

The property was perfect, it was very clean and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The views were second to none and we had northern light shows almost every night. Checking in and out was easy and the owner communicated clearly and made the process very easy. If you are visiting Iceland I highly recommend Arnarstapi and the surrounding peninsula. I am 100% planning to return to Iceland very soon and I will be staying at this cabin again. We spent a few nights in another part of Iceland and this cabin was our favorite, it was like being at home.

Super Lage und ein tolles Haus

Wir haben 3 wundervolle Nächte hier verbracht. Das Haus ist sehr ruhig gelegen, sehr sauber und super ausgestattet. Man hat wirklich alles was man braucht. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und kümmern sich um einen perfekten Aufenthalt. Von Arnastarpi aus kann man tolle Ausflüge machen und alles in der Nähe erkunden. Die Halbinsel Snaefellsnes ist einfach beeindruckend und man sollte sie unbedingt erkunden.

Great cottage and great location

This was a great location and great property for our first two nights in Iceland. We were three friends traveling together. The property provided exactly what we wanted for the start of our trip. The host was very responsive. The property was clean and easy to access. We loved everything about it. Thank you! I’d stay here again.

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location

This cottage was very comfortable in a very good location with both ocean and mountains in sight. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had washer and dryer that worked. All things were provided to use the kitchen. Only one complaint is the restroom shower was small and had poor water flow so could not take a shower properly else everything else was good. The driveway to home had a bunch of potholes so drive with care while you enter. Also minor issues were the keypad where keys are kept may need to be replaced as it was difficult to open to get keys out.
