About this property
Freida Historic Farmhouse Bellingen - Sharing country bliss together
FREIDA HISTORIC FARMHOUSE BELLINGEN
We welcome you to stay in our beautiful home - Freida Historic Farmhouse . Located in Gleniffer, the jewel of the beautiful Bellinger Valley, our classic Australian farmhouse has become very popular for gatherings of families and friends, particularly multi generation get-togethers. The home is very spacious and has a special ambiance. The original owner, famous pioneer midwife, Freida Hicks, cared for women and babies across the Bellinger Valley in the late 1800s. Many say you can still feel that care.
They describe Freida as a step back in time.
The house has an old world feel, full of period features, high ceilings and original old floors. The four double size bedrooms have french doors which open out onto big wrap-around verandahs. The wood fire in the lounge room and the claws foot bath which looks out to the trees and local mountain ranges, are both very popular with guests.
Freida has a fully equipped roomy country kitchen and loads of space to hang out, catch up and relax. The verandahs have an outside dining table, a hammock and a number of couches and chairs for resting, chatting and bird watching. On ten acres, you look out across rambling gardens, old orchards and an abundance of beautiful birdlife.
With excellent NBN internet, Freida is also great option for those seeking a beautiful country location to work remote.
We attract great people who appreciate life's simple pleasures - loved ones, good food (probably also wine :) ) and being in nature. Check out the 80 plus reviews that we have received from very happy guests.
There's loads to do in our area - swimming, hiking, kayaking, picnicing. - Freida is 10 minutes walk from the beautiful Bellinger River - highly recommended at dusk. - She is 10 to 15 minutes drive from the now famous Never Never River. - Half an hour's drive further up our road sees you up the mountain to Dorrigo and its world class National Park. This is a must for anyone new to the area. - Twenty minute's drive back into vibrant Bellingen has you shopping, coffeeing, dining, chilling and crowd watching in one of the most interesting towns on the north coast of NSW (Byron now comes to us!! :) ) - If you have time you will also want to continue on to the coast to swim and walk along our sensational beaches (particularly the Urunga Boardwalk over the estuary).
We allow 2 day stays, mainly so that people find us when searching for weekend escapes. But we seriously encourage you to think about a longer stay. Most people who have stayed for only 2 nights have said it was not enough time and that they "haven't even lain on the hammock yet" and feel that there is so much more to see and do - and just not do.
Ask us about our "stay for 5 nights, pay for 4" option.
We also offer two bedrooms in the garden apartment below the house for larger groups and special friends and return guests.
We can also potentially support small special events. We have some wonderful catering and music connections, and hospitality experience.
We hope to host you soon - feel free to reach out with any questions or special needs.

We were so cosy, comfortable and relaxed after our stay. Thank you so much for this beautiful countryside escape. We loved the area and the guesthouse.
Frieda Historic Farmhouse is a fabulous home to truly feel away from it all. Four huge bedrooms make this an ideal property for the large or extended family. The property was very clean and filled with everything you could want to have an enjoyable get away. The hosts were just lovely and very accommodating. I would truly recommend this property to clear the head and breathe in the fresh country air. Kerryn
What a beautiful home in such a gorgeous location. Directions to the property were perfect, we would have been completely lost without them.
My family and I enjoyed our weekend break so much we are already looking at booking again for next year.
The house was perfect for our family and everyone said how comfortable the beds were. We enjoyed the fire each night and breakfast on the verandah, also the fresh garden flowers in each room was such a sweet touch too.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!
The property was perfect for our gathering with plenty of room for all of us. It was very spacious yet the fireplaces made it feel very cosy. The beds were super comfy hence everyone slept well. The seating around the verandah enabled people to get some quiet time if needed and the hammock was a hit. The supersized oven made cooking a breeze. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cutlery, crockery and glassware. Liz was easy to deal with and ensured the rooms were configured to suit our needs. A beautiful place to stay, near beautiful waterholes. We can’t wait to visit again.
We loved our stay at this beautiful old rustic property. The farmland setting is idyllic and the property manager could not have been more helpful. The house takes you back to a bygone era with amazing wrap around verandahs and furnished with some lovely period pieces. The sounds of the bush are very evident with lots of frogs and birds close to the house. The 20 minute drive to Bellingen on narrow and winding roads was not a problem but some may see it that way.
Rambling gardens lush with potential and an abundance of flowers surround the property.
Gorgeous bouquets from the garden were in every room and plenty of games and books provided if needing to avoid the crowds and non mask wearing tourists! Beautiful traditional rugs covered the floors and lots of places to sit around the verandah and enjoy the bird life and fifty shades of green.
The family stayed there for a wedding close by. Liz was lovely and had great communication.
She let my son check in earlier than the check in time.
Would recommend highly,with peaceful surroundings.
A special place. Beautiful. Serene, and a piece of the old world, we thought long lost.
The property manager was extremely accommodating and helpful. Great to communicate with.
The property itself is full of hidden gems. Very well stocked house with everything you need.
We loved it here. One of the best stays we have had.
We wish we booked longer. This is a charming house that has been decorated in a very cosy and thoughtful way. Liz was so friendly and really cared about the place. The surrounding area is beautiful including the National park walks and the small town of Bellingen. Highly recommended.
Charming weatherboard cottage, with wide verandas and high ceilings, surrounded by tropical shrubs and trees. Must watch the magical sunrises on the verandas. Kitchen well appointed, chairs, beds etc comfortable. Would stay again
Liz clearly loves this house, and appreciates the value of bringing people together. This elegantly maintained farmhouse in Gleniffer is a delightful venue for a getaway with a group of friends or family, and Liz is a wonderful host.
The house is beautifully appointed on quiet rural block, surrounded by native bush land. The verandah on the north side of the house is an ideal spot to have breakfast in the morning, read a book during the day, or to listen to the birds from the hammock in the late-afternoon light.
It’s the small, thoughtful surprises that really make the place - beautiful crockery, a great CD collection and quality speakers, a giant table in the middle of the sprawling kitchen, perfect for communal cooking.
We can’t wait to visit again!
Our group of grandparents, parents and kids had a relaxed stay at Liz' elegant farmhouse. The house has plenty of bedrooms and places to get away for some time to yourself or commune with the whole group together. The upstairs bedrooms are stylish with level access to the bathroom (important for the octogenarians in our group). Liz was a generous host who kept in close contact both before and during our stay and responded to all of our needs quickly. Highly recommended.
We loved our stay in this beautiful house. Everything seemed to have been thought of and supplied. We would have loved to spend more time there. We would love to visit again.
This house was a dream, like stepping back in time to a place where relaxation reigned supreme and teas on the verandah and wine by the fire punctuated the day. The birdsong and incredible garden and friendly goats and beautiful scenery offered gorgeous escapism. As did the beautiful bath tub!

Beautiful house, amazing surrounds, peace quiet and tranquility.
This is exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful house, lots of accommodation for this group of good friends. Liz and Emily are doing an amazing job of continuing to work on this house to keep it in the period it was built

Lovely, cosy home filled with warmth!
We loved our stay at Frieda’s. It is delightful, romantic, quiet and really comfortable. My family and our friends felt right at home and the delightful host Emily is a dream. I kept sighing, and looking out at the landscape and saying “this is so pleasant”. It is exactly what we needed to slough of the cares of the world, even just for a short while. We’ll be back!

So perfect for our long weekend!!
We arrived at Frieda and instantly fell in love with this charming house in its peaceful location. We were 3 small families together celebrating a 50th birthday and there was plenty of room inside and outside the house. The kids played in the gorgeous garden area and on the trampoline and adults could relax over a drink on the beautiful deck and multiple hammocks. Not far from town meant we could go in for lunch or supplies easily when needed. The owners are so lovely to deal with and made everything smooth sailing from beginning to end. We would definitely book in at Frieda house again!
