KIDS, DOGS & THE YARD

The large level lawn is the heart of the property—wonderful for family games, relaxed afternoons, and time outside with your dogs. The yard is unfenced, so dogs must remain leashed outdoors.

We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs under 40 pounds inside. An outdoor kennel with a doghouse is available for larger dogs, and an indoor crate is provided when a pet must be left unattended. Please clean up after pets, keep them off furniture and beds, and crate or kennel them when unattended.

Pet fee: $50 per stay.

CLOUDLAND CANYON & LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN

Cloudland Canyon is just down the road, with waterfalls, overlooks, hiking trails, and disc golf. If you prefer fewer stairs, ask us about scenic options that work well for children and leashed dogs. You can also enjoy nearby Lookout Mountain attractions and make an easy trip into Chattanooga for dining, museums, and family activities.

COMFORT, CLEANLINESS & QUIET

We are proudly pet-friendly and clean-focused. The home receives a meticulous cleaning between every stay, with extra attention to floors and soft surfaces, so it feels fresh and welcoming when you arrive.

Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This is a peaceful retreat, and we ask guests to help us protect that atmosphere.

I’m Barbara, your host, and I’m grateful to share our family’s mountain place with you. Pennington Place is meant to feel comfortable, cared for, and easy from check-in through checkout. If you need anything during your stay, I’m just a message away.

About the host

Hi! I’m Barbara, your host, and this home is extra special to me — it was my childhood home on Lookout Mountain. I didn’t really choose this place… but I did choose to stay, care for it, and share it with others. My hope is that Pennington Place feels peaceful, safe, and comfortable for every guest who walks through the door. I love hosting families, couples, hikers, and guests traveling with their dogs. I’m big on clear communication, easy check-in, and a truly clean home. If you need anything during your stay (or want trail and local tips), I’m just a message away.

Why they chose this property

What I love most about this area is the quiet and peace — and the natural beauty that comes with it. You’re surrounded by mature hardwood trees, natural rock features, and that “mountain stillness” you can feel the moment you pull in. It’s the kind of place where you hear birds instead of traffic. And even though it feels tucked away, you’re still close to Cloudland Canyon and some of the best hiking around. For me, it’s the perfect mix of “near the adventure” and “far from the noise.”

What makes this property unique

Pennington Place is a cozy 3BR/2BA retreat on a private 1-acre lot, but what really makes it special is the setting and the outdoor living. The mature hardwoods, natural rocks, and peaceful landscape make it feel like your own little pocket of Lookout Mountain. Guests often mention the covered porch with rockers and a swing — it’s the kind of spot that makes you slow down and soak it all in. In spring and summer especially, you may find you don’t want to be inside much at all… the porch, yard, and fresh mountain air are the best part. It’s also a great home base for Cloudland Canyon, making it easy to hike, explore, and then come home to rest.
