Unique and powerful place with natural beauty both inside and out. Beautiful, tasteful, unobtrusive decor with luscious wood walls and flooring; fantastic vista to be seen of mountains and trees. There even seems to be a babbling brook audible nearby. Very quiet, and pretty much ideal for what I was looking for (an escape into the woods).
The host is gracious and laid back in communications, and at no point does one feel worried about unintentionally stepping on his toes by forgetting to do x or y — the ideal attitude in general and especially for this sort of situation.
Basically, it felt as if what I had hoped existed had come into reality -- had to pinch myself a few times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

GREAT GATAWAY
Nice, quiet, private house surround by redwoods. 20min drive to white water rafting spot (highly recommended). Trinity river is very clean!! There is a nice fire road for trail running just around the corner (uphill to left). We enjoyed using the new gas BBQ and large bathtub. The house is equipped with pretty much everything you need. I would love to go back there again.

Junction City home
My wife and I visited for her 51st birthday and it was everything we needed for a short getaway. The place can be kind of hard to find (especially at night!) but once we arrived was beautiful. Incense cedar is used throughout the house and gives an incredible smell when the front door is first opened. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean and neatly kept. My wife raved about the bathroom and especially the bathtub. She wants one in our next house! There is a balcony on the second floor that provides a place to have a glass of wine or play cards while taking in the mountain views. There is no grocery store or restaurant in Junction City; but, Weaverville is only 8 miles away and you can get what is needed there. We enjoyed our visit very much and can't wait to get back for a longer stay next time!

Great Stay over long weekend!
We had a wonderful stay at Dwight's place. It was 95 degrees out and we were comfortable inside with the great A/C. Everything was clean and quiet. Great view from top balcony. Property is close to the road but the view makes up for that. Dwight was a very nice man from the beginning of communication. Everything was left for us! The feel is a "lived in" cabin. So, feels like you are in someone'd home. Being surrounded by woods was a great feeling!
Thank you for the stay we throughly enjoyed ourselves!

About the host
Hosted by Dwight Chapman
I own a small wildlife and forestry survey company. We hike around the west doing hawk and eagle surveys, as well as measuring basic forest health characteristics. The neighbor built the house so if anything goes wrong, he will be there on a moments notice.
Why they chose this property
The house sits on top of a ridge with beautiful mountain views.
What makes this property unique
The house is close to a Buddhist retreat center, which has meditation courses and teachings retreats throughout the year. The retreat center is visible in the valley view. It is also close to the Trinity River for easy access to one of the best fishing rivers in the west. The unique design of the house gives it an open and social quality, making it the ideal place to relax with friends.
