This had everything we needed. It is small but perfect for two people. The location is really good for lots of food options and easy access to the harbour front. It is noisy at night - a noisy corner because it’s so busy.

Great location but very cramped. Building kind of smells. We found things from previous stays in the unit (someone’s shirt and bra) and the bathroom (2 empty toilet paper rolls) and neither space was super clean. Bathroom is indeed out of the unit in the hall, but the door to it is wide open when not in use and there were constantly people walking around the hall going in and out of the storage units. Not convenient for showering. Incredibly warm during the summer and very loud as it is directly above pizza corner. Would only recommend for a short stay downtown where you are not in the unit for long.

Positives: location to the Citadel and waterfront were walkable.Negatives: Entry to the unit involved entering the building which was very dirty, not vacuumed and going up a stairwell that is very old, dirty, dusty & dingy. We then proceeded through a hallway that is being used to store equipment and XMas decorations and then to unlock the door to the only single unit. Entry to the unit is as the pictures showed with some extra old furniture. The bed was super soft and full of springs like sleeping on a pull out couch. Based rolled around. Worst part were the lumps in the mattress. Pillows very small and lumpy as well. Washroom was outside the unit, in the hallway. Towels were probably 20 years old, with stains and frayed edges. It was clean but walls peeling and it needed a major renovation.

Thank you for your comments, the towels bedding etc are new within the last year... we do not keep 20 year old towels here and if you had an issue with something you should have reached out. The photos are accurate and it is noted the private bathroom is in the hall. It is a budget friendly accommodation if you were expecting the Ritz you could have spent the extra $400/night to stay at a hotel : )

Overall, for the price, this place was totally fine for a short stay. The location is extremely central and we weren't expecting anything fancy. The biggest thing future guests should know is that the bathroom is not actually inside the apartment, you have to leave the unit and access it from the shared hallway. Unless I missed something, this isn't disclosed in the listing, and it's definitely something I would have wanted to know before booking. That said, the bathroom itself was clean and well equipped. The unit is fairly bare-bones: no nightstands, and you can only charge a phone from one side of the bed. There's also no full-length mirror or iron/steamer, which would have been helpful as we were in town for a wedding. The bed didn't have a duvet/comforter, although this wasn't an issue for us.A simple printed welcome guide would also be useful. We only noticed after checking out that the listing asks guests to strip the bed and leave towels in the bathtub, so unfortunately we missed those instructions.Lastly, I messaged in advance about a possible early check-in and never received a response.Overall, perfectly adequate for the price and a great location, just a few practical additions and clearer communication would improve the experience.

The location was great walking wise to everything but extremely loud until about 4am. They blast music across the street on outdoor speakers which makes it really hard to sleep. The shower curtain was all full of mildew so the first day we had to walk to get a new one. The towels had seen better days and I found a pair of glue on eyelashes on mine 😳 The living room is extremely small but if the bed could fit there it would be a lot better for sleeping as the noise in the actual bedroom is so loud. The bathroom being in the hallway was fine other then there were constant people upstairs in the two storage rooms, it wasn’t every once in awhile as listed. I would only recommend this place if you don’t mind loud music all night and a lack of privacy using the bathroom.

This tiny apartment is location is really central and the price was also very good. The apartment is old and rustic but clean. Only thing we encountered was some things under the bed which was not a big deal.I think it is important to know that just as the description says, it is in the main party area and not only during the weekend but every night there was people in the streets partying, screaming and fighting until 4:30 AM. It didn’t really bother us. What did bother us was the constant smell of Rosie’s Burgers that is directly below the apartment. The exhaust from the restaurant fills the apartment from 10:00 am when you hear them turn on the exhaust until 3am or 4am when they shut them off. There is no air conditioning or fans so having the windows open to get some air into a hot apartment makes it worse. Our clothes and hair smell like burgers and I was sick to my stomach by the end of our 5 night stay. There are air filter machines by the windows to help but it is just too much to really do anything. My other issue was the lack of communication. I tried to contact the owner 2 months before we arrived, the day we arrived and 2 days before we left and never got a response.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and cozy. I came to Halifax to attend a concert at the Scotiabank Centre. It couldn't have been more conveniently located. It was literally, just a short walk away. In fact, I was able to go just about everywhere I wanted to on foot. For longer trips, Uber is easily available. Plenty of restaurants nearby. I especially liked the Wooden Monkey. Because of being located in the heart of downtown Halifax, I expected some street noise. Many of the restaurants are open very late. But I had brought along my sound machine to block out any noises, and was able to sleep soundly. This is a lovely heritage property, that has been updated somewhat. But not Too much. I was not looking for a cookie-cutter "box"type of place to stay. You can find that Anywhere. It has more of a boho, artsy vibe. I just loved the way it was decorated. So much so, that I bought a boho wool throw identical to the one in the apartment, from the very popular Black Market Boutique located on the first floor of the building! Now I will always have something to remember my stay there, whenever I use it. This apartment is ideal for someone traveling alone as I was, or for a couple. Maybe a bit small for families. The bathroom is located in the hallway, out side of the apartment itself. This should not be an issue though, as you will have the whole floor to yourselves. If I'm ever in Halifax in the future, I'd ABSOLUTELY stay here again!
