About this property

Steps to the French Quarter & Bourbon St | Hearing-Accessible | The Harlequin

Some buildings just have a story — this one had a starring role. On iconic Canal Street, The Harlequin was once home to New Orleans' first movie theater, and that cinematic spirit still runs through the place today: a landmark building reimagined as a collection of stylish, design-forward apartments where original character meets the ease of home.

You'll be staying in one of the most walkable spots in all of New Orleans, with a perfect 100/100 walkability score. Step outside and the best of the city is right there — the French Quarter a few blocks away, the buzz of Bourbon Street within minutes, and Jackson Square, the Saenger Theatre, and the St. Charles Streetcar line all close enough to reach before your coffee cools. Grab beignets at Café du Monde, stroll the historic French Market, or wander the riverfront and let the live jazz find you.

The Hearing-Accessible Two-Bedroom Suite is a calm retreat from the city's happy chaos, thoughtfully designed so every guest feels genuinely at home. Two private bedrooms comfortably sleep four, making it an easy fit for families or a few traveling companions, and hearing-accessible features are built right in for a comfortable, worry-free stay. Newly refreshed interiors bring curated art, considered design touches, and every essential you'll need, while the fully equipped kitchen makes dining in easy and a cozy living area with a smart TV invites you to unwind after a day of exploring. In select suites, expansive windows pull in the glow of Canal Street below.

Come for a show at the Saenger, the city's world-famous cuisine, or a night out in its legendary music scene. The Harlequin keeps all of it within reach, then gives you a stylish, well-appointed place to land at the end of the day.

We have multiple spaces at this property, each designed to give you a beautiful place to stay. While our style is consistent, the view, layout, and design may vary.

Canal Street is one of New Orleans’ most storied and dynamic thoroughfares, a place where the city’s past and present come together in full color. Once known as the “neutral ground” dividing the French and American sectors, today it’s the heartbeat of downtown, connecting the French Quarter to the Central Business District and beyond. Lined with grand architecture, historic theaters, and the famous streetcar line, Canal Street offers effortless access to everything that makes New Orleans extraordinary. From here, you can wander to jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street, shop along Magazine Street, or catch a performance at the Saenger Theatre. And when it’s time to slow down, the Mississippi Riverfront and leafy squares provide the perfect contrast to the city’s lively rhythm. Whether you’re here for the music, the food, the festivals, or the unmistakable spirit that fills the air, Canal Street places you at the center of it all.

The location of this property is excellent, within walking distance of lots of restaurants, the French Quarter, the river, Street Car. One bedroom has a king size bed and the other a queen. The apartment was clean and the kitchen well furnished.

Our whole stay was extremely enjoyable starting with the accommodations at The Harlequin. The apartment was spotless and extremely spacious, the location was phenomenal, the noise level was barely noticeable at all in a very busy and lively city. We were steps away from anything we chose to explore. I just wanted to thank everyone at Avantstay for the presentation and ease of use of their property we were fortunate to stay in the past 5 days. We will hopefully be able to stay at this same location again the next time we need to have a mini-getaway from Orlando. Thank You Again!

Room was nice. Location was excellent. The only thing was the room had a very strong weed smell. The hall didn’t smell like it just the room.

The location was perfect! It was so clean and communication between property staff was seamless. Although its on a busy loud street. Once you go in the noise is gone. We slept peacefully and heard none of the NOLA loudness. Highly recommend and would return.

Great location! Lots of events going on this weekend so it was quite the crowd and very noisy, but we didn’t hear a peep of the outdoor noise inside the unit. The unit was stocked with all of the essentials as stated in other reviews. Will definitely book again! We walked to and from the convention center everyday in under 15 minutes. Highly Recommend!

Very nice building and apartment. Very clean and inviting. Felt very secure amongst this haunted city. This place puts you right in the middle of it all with any kind of food and shopping you want within a minute or two walk! We were there for an event at the Seanger Theater about 3/4 to a mile walk. Parking was so easy with secure valet on the street behind canal within a block walk. Keep in mind this is NOLA so it can get very busy and loud and in other words full of characters. Lol. Bourbon is only two blocks away.
