About the host

Hosted by Ryan Kay

Host profile image
We’re a family of five from Michigan with three kids, and we’ve been vacationing in the Smoky Mountains for years. It’s always been one of our favorite places to unplug, spend time together, and just enjoy the views—so much so that we eventually decided to buy a place of our own.

What really inspired us to host is that we were guests for so long. We know what makes a stay feel easy, comfortable, and memorable—and what can be frustrating—so we’ve tried to build the kind of experience we always appreciated when we traveled. From clear communication to the little details in the cabin, we’re always thinking from the guest’s perspective.

We genuinely enjoy being hosts and want every stay to feel smooth, relaxing, and worth coming back to.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because it offers the best of both worlds—peaceful mountain views without being too far from everything. The cabin sits in a quiet, scenic spot where you can truly relax, enjoy nature, and take in the views without the crowds or noise you’ll find closer to town.

At the same time, you’re just a short drive to all the main attractions. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are all easily accessible, so you can spend the day exploring and come back to a calm, private retreat at night.

One of our favorite things about the neighborhood is how it feels tucked away, yet still convenient. The drives are beautiful, especially with nearby access to scenic routes like Foothills Parkway, and there’s a great mix of outdoor activities, local spots, and family-friendly attractions nearby. It’s the kind of place where you can do as much—or as little—as you want.

What makes this property unique

Hill•of•a•View is all about that “wow” moment when you walk in and see the mountains. The views are completely unobstructed and stretch for miles—you can enjoy them from multiple decks or soak them in from the hot tub, which is a guest favorite year-round.

What really makes the cabin different is the mix of modern, clean design with a cozy mountain feel. It’s not your typical older cabin—everything is newer, thoughtfully designed, and set up to be comfortable for families or groups. With three levels and separate climate control on each floor, everyone can spread out and stay comfortable no matter the season.

We’ve also put a lot of thought into the little things that make a stay easier—comfortable beds (with upgraded Tempur-Pedic topper), stocked bathrooms, reliable WiFi, and easy-to-drive roads getting to the cabin. It’s private and peaceful, but still close enough to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and the national park to make getting around simple.

More than anything, we genuinely care about the guest experience. We try to make everything smooth from booking to checkout and are always quick to help if anything comes up. Our goal is simple: a relaxing stay with amazing views that you’ll want to come back to.
