The historic community of Arden, West Virginia, is home to the Tygart River Guest House. It is off the beaten path and serves as a convenient hub with direct access to the river – yet only a 6 mile from the nearest town where you can find restaurants, groceries, gas, pharmacy, hospital and more.
The Arden Grade Road between the guest house and river was once a main route through the mountains for the B&O railway during the early 1900’s. It's a small road now that is part of The American Discovery Trail for through hikers. It follows beside the river providing spectacular views of wooded mountains, rapids and waterfalls! It’s also a great place for casual walks, bike rides or a morning run.
Take in the stars fireside, listen to the rolling sounds of whitewater, and connect with family and friends in a most welcoming and unlikely place.

About the host
Hosted by Sherry Hubbard

Josh and Sherry Hubbard moved to West Virginia many decades ago as avid rafters & kayakers who love whitewater and the abundance of rivers and streams in the area. We found this place along the river and never looked back! We have raised our family on and around the rivers and mountains covering nearly every square inch of this area. We've made lasting memories and we hope you will too! Josh is a local artisan crafting wood and metal into truly beautiful works of art He built a driftwood gazebo next to the river which comes from local wood collected along the Tygart.) Sherry works from home as a freelance writer and graphic designer. We have a home next door to the guest house and are nearby if you have a questions or need a hand.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the river, mountains and people of Arden, WV. Parts of the guest house date back to the early 1900's during the coal mining era when tracks of the B & O Railroad line ran directly through the community of Arden. Roots run deep in these hills!
We love being in a place where we can enjoy outdoor sports like hiking, biking, kayaking and rafting by day and breath in some relaxing mountain air by night.

What makes this property unique
Being situated on a beautiful waterfront location with river and mountain views from every bedroom make it really special to us. Backyard campfires, s'mores and the constant sound of rolling whitewater are the cherries on top!
