House design featured in City Scope Magazine (Spring 2026)

Why Not Woodland Escape is a modern treetop home intended for people who love nature — but don’t want to sacrifice comfort.

Perched on 10½ private acres, the house was intentionally designed to blur the lines between indoors and out. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the ridgeline and treetops, and nearly every space connects you back to the woods.

STEP OUTSIDE, and you’ll find a screened outdoor living room with TV, a walk-out deck with hot tub and shower under star-filled skies, a stocked outdoor kitchen (sink, fridge, prep space, grill), large fire pit, and a nearly ½-mile private trail that winds through the woods to a seasonal creek (dogs give it 5 stars).

INSIDE, the home is warm, modern, and thoughtfully equipped. The chef’s kitchen is fully stocked with sharp knives, spices, oil, and everything you need to cook comfortably (grab some herbs from the garden!). There’s a built-in bar, a dedicated workspace with fiber internet, a game room (darts, ping-pong), and a separate workout space with weights, mats, bench, pull-up bar, and more.

BEDROOMS & SLEEP

Restorative rest comes easy in three peaceful bedrooms:

Main-level king suite with deck access to hot tub + outdoor shower

Upstairs queen bedroom

Upstairs two-twin XL room

All beds feature quality mattresses and 100% cotton percale sheets.

THE WHY NOT STORY

In 2021, we parked a 20’ camper on this land and began clearing it ourselves — uncovering ridgeline views and countless Y-shaped knotty branches along the way. “Why Not” stuck. We built this home from the ground up, designing and crafting many details ourselves, and now share it so others can unplug, reconnect, and maybe ask their own why not.

INTENTIONALLY DOG-WELCOMING

We happily welcome well-behaved dogs. A dog bed, bowls, treats, towels, waste bags, and even a crate are provided. Furniture is for humans only — thank you for helping us keep the home beautiful for all guests.

WHAT GUESTS SAY

“The cabin and the surrounding scenery were even more beautiful in person than in the photos.”

“If you’re looking for peace and grounding, this is the place for you."

"The hot tub, outdoor shower, and fire pit made everything extra relaxing."

"Beds were comfy, and everything was carefully arranged to ensure all our needs were met.”

“Very well decorated and clean. Loved our visit.”

AREA VIBE

You’ve landed in a creative, outdoorsy mountain pocket where hang gliding pilots, hikers, and nature lovers call home.

PARKING

There's plenty! And the driveway is flat and easy to maneuver.

We aim for 5-star experiences every time — and we mean it.

The privacy of the place was truly refreshing—perfect for unwinding and escaping. We enjoyed the lovely walking trail just steps away from the property. It was a joy to take a walk, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. Plus, being dog-friendly made it even better! This trip was just my husband myself and our puppies. If we came with more of our family having all the outdoor spaces would be great. Overall, I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a serene setting. It was exactly what I needed, and I can't wait to return!

Kelly was a great host as well as attentive. The property was all that was described and more. My wife brought our two dogs on an extend weekend in the mountains and instantly were blown away when we pulled into the driveway. The property was beautifully landscaped and maintained. The interior was modern and clean. The only thing we regret is having to leave. We will be back for a longer stay in the near future.

Why Not Woodland Escape got its name because we literally said WHY NOT move from the city and live on-site in a camper while we design and build our dream home?

WHY NOT also gets its name from the countless branches and trees we handled in the shape of 'Y's' and of course, all the knots in the trees.

Why they chose this property

We spent over two years looking for the perfect acreage for our dream home. And we found it!

What makes this property unique

Our property has it all! Privacy, views, trails, a creek, wildlife, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
