About this property
Lakefront, large yard, close to Chattanooga, 9 beds, private dock, pets ok
Dock your boat, fish, or swim in the private lagoon directly on Lake Chickamauga and the Tennessee River. Drive less than 10 miles to Downtown Chattanooga. The large covered dock holds up to 3 boats, with 2 under cover. The dock also has a large screened porch that is perfect for an additional sleeping area (primitive) or a great place to hang out in the shade beside the water. Fish under cover on hot days or in the rain. Fishing is also great on the Boardwalk area beside the dock. Lake Chickamauga is one of the top 10 bass fishing lakes in the USA. Across the small lagoon is a nature preserve called Chester Frost Park, but it is very private. Chester Frost Park has a beautiful sandy beach, a large boat ramp, and great playground facilities free to the public. Chester Frost Park is also the check in station for the local bass tournaments. Chester Frost is easily accessed by road or water. Lake Chickamauga has been included in the top 10 bass lakes in the US. The fishing off the dock is outstanding. If the water is down (between October 15 and May 15, generally, there are multiple fishing docks at Chester Frost Park). Lake Chickamauga is formed from the Chickamauga Dam and provides hydro electric power and aids in flood control. Therefore the water is lowered by TVA during the off season months, generally beginning in October and ending in May. During these months, the dock's water level is generally too low for your boat. However Chester Frost Park (2 miles away) provides free access to a boat ramp, multiple docks, and several fishing docks. Also enjoy the fire pit located beside the pavilion.
The over 2000 Square foot, one level , brick ranch has 4 Large Bedrooms (1 king beds ,4 queen, 2 sets of bunk beds) and sleep 12 comfortably in beds plus a sofa. 2 Full baths. A 32x20 covered outdoor pavilion includes a refrigerator, sink , charcoal grill, dining table, seating area and fire pit will become your favorite spot to enjoy the day or night. The pavilion has ceiling fans and is well lit and furnished. Surrounding the pavilion is a large sunny concrete patio. The pavilion is 20 feet from the main house.
The 5 acre flat, mowed property borders a nature preserve on 2 sides. Enjoy watching the birds, deer , chipmunks and you kids and pets from the back patio. The home sits off the road and is landscaped beautifully with several Japanese maple trees. There is plenty of parking beside the house and in a separate gravel parking lot in the back yard. 12 cars are easy to park here. Unbelievably the house has extremely, high speed wireless internet. The Convenient kitchen has a large refrigerator freezer with ice and water through the door. The galley kitchen includes an electric stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher , toaster, and coffee maker.
Location may be the best part of this property. Even though you enjoy a 5 acre flat, mowed living area on the Tennessee River and Lake Chickamauga, you can walk on sidewalks to great restaurants. The Getaway is located in Hixson, TN a popular suburb of Chattanooga. Downtown Chattanooga is a straight shot, 10 miles away. Within 10 minutes of the property is every amenity you could possibly want including: 30 or more restaurants, a large mall with state of art cinema, golf courses, bowling alley, a beach, marinas, multiple churches , parks, tennis, dry cleaner, laundromat, goldsmith, shoe repair, alterations. We have it all. This home is perfect for anyone working in Chattanooga, but wanting to enjoy the water in their back yard on weekends or at the end of a long summer day. Please consider bringing your bicycles.
This is a great location for Riverbend or other local festivals, Bass Tournaments, the Tennessee Aquarium and downtown, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Montlake rock climbing, outdoor events on the river, or any of the other great attractions and events going on in Chattanooga or Lake Chickamauga.

About the host
Hosted by James Rogers
I am a local small business owner. I enjoy the lake and spending time with my family including my grandsons. I live very close to the Retreat spending any open weekends there with my family.
Why they chose this property
I was fortunate enough to acquire this property from the estate of the original developer of this part of the lake. This was his personal residence and explains how such a large piece of land on the lake , close to the city, became available. We love to enjoy every aspect of the lake.
