About this property
Maison Hibernia – An Artistic Villa Born from Anguilla’s Renowned Restaurant
Once home to the beloved Hibernia Restaurant & Art Gallery, this tranquil two-bedroom retreat continues a story that began nearly forty years ago, when Mary-Pat and Raoul arrived in Anguilla and created Hibernia Restaurant — a place not only popular for its cuisine but also known for art, travel, and gracious hospitality. Now 'MAISON HIBERNIA', it carries that same spirit forward: a holiday villa shaped by their eye for detail, love of design, and quiet appreciation of beauty. We live discreetly in a unit on the 1st floor of the spacious property and are always nearby should you need anything, ensuring your stay feels both private and warmly cared for.
Its shaded balcony extends from the living room and overlooks the lap-style pool, where water meets the stone Zen garden dotted with sculptures gathered from Asia. Framed by dessert plants and carved details, this tranquil space reflects La Maison’s artistic spirit — a place where water, stone, and greenery find quiet balance. Open to the breeze, it’s ideal for breakfast in the morning light, working at a laptop, or evening dining as the garden begins to glow at dusk, with the softly lit 32-foot pool inviting morning swims, leisurely exercise, or peaceful moonlit bathing
Once part of THE FORMER RESTAURANT DINING AREA, the living room keeps the same generous proportions and sense of welcome. Large sliding doors open onto the balcony, allowing air and light to move freely through the space.
Entertainment at La Maison Hibernia is thoughtfully curated: Smart TV with Netflix for on-demand viewing (no traditional channels), a Bose Bluetooth speaker, a selection of books and a chess set for leisurely afternoons.
THE FORMER PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN has been reimagined for guests, offering a functional space full of character. Enjoy preparing meals with a curated selection of our restaurant ceramics, Christofle silver cutlery, and delicate wine glasses, bringing a little of Hibernia’s culinary history to your table.
MASTER BEDROOM 1 (In the Former Art Gallery)— Entered through classic wooden French doors beside the pool, the first master bedroom offers a quiet retreat connected to its own lounge area. The space feels open yet cocooned, with soft light, Balinese wall carvings, and a soothing palette of natural tones. A smart TV with Netflix for on-demand viewing (no traditional channels), Its ensuite bathroom combines stone textures and handcrafted elements, creating a warm, tactile environment that reflects the home’s artistic spirit.
MASTER BEDROOM 2 — A vibrant hand-made red door opens into the second master bedroom, a space with personality and story. Far Eastern art, and soft natural light bring a sense of authenticity and warmth. The ensuite bathroom, lined with mosaic tiles in golden hues, continues the home’s dialogue between art and comfort, echoing its connection to Asia and its enduring sense of peace.
The Front Garden: Every path and sculpture in the garden tells a story — of travels, craftsmanship, and years of collecting. Stones gathered from across Asia find their place among frangipani trees and palms, creating a peaceful rhythm between earth and art. The result is a serene landscape where you can pause, breathe, and simply be.
Enjoy your own private hideaway above the tranquil fishing village of Island Harbour. MAISON HIBERNIA is a spacious 2,500-square-foot villa set within three-quarters of an acre of lush, park-like gardens adorned with mature trees, stone sculptures, and shaded benches. The entire ground floor Villa is your private retreat, with its own entrance, garden terrace, and pool, all oriented toward gentle sea views. Every detail has been designed to preserve a sense of calm privacy, independence, and understated elegance, offering guests a serene and self-contained island experience. We are available when needed and we aim to make your vacation smooth and stress free.
This beautiful two-bedroom Maison Hibernia comfortably accommodates up to four guests. However, when booking for just two people, you’ll enjoy the lower rate that reflects the use of one bedroom (the master bedroom). The second bedroom will be closed off, but you’ll still have exclusive access to the entire villa, its grounds and all its amenities. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the space at a tailored price for smaller groups.
Please also kindly note that Maison Hibernia is not suitable for children under the age of 10 years.
We clean the villa before each stay, and guests enjoy full privacy with no housekeeping during their visit.

About the host
Hosted by Mary-Pat O'Hanlon
We’re originally from Ireland and France and have called Anguilla home for 38 years. Welcoming visitors has always been at the heart of what we do — first through our restaurant and art gallery, and now through our villa. We take genuine pleasure in helping guests discover the best of the island and are always happy to share tips and local insights to make each stay truly memorable.
Why they chose this property
Island Harbour is a welcoming coastal village where neighbors treat you like family. The Bay, its lively center, is a beach where fishing boats come and go and locals and visitors mingle at the beach bar. You can stroll down the road, chat with residents, or buy the day’s catch straight from the boats. I love its peaceful, below-the-radar charm — a place that always feels like coming home
