About this property

Whimsical Dog-Friendly A-frame with Views on Cul-de-Sac

Let the world fall away in this homey, Alice in Wonderland-inspired A-frame cabin, a perfect retreat designed to relax and inspire. Two-story windows open up to protected woodland, and two large decks invite you to enjoy both sunrise and sunset in your secluded cul-de-sac setting.

With an almost flat lot and only four steps up to the main entrance, unpacking is a breeze. The thoughtful layout has a bedroom and bathroom on each floor for added privacy. The cabin is homey, fun, and quirky, offering a unique stay that is more “FUNctional” than fancy. This is a true cabin-in-the-forest experience—prepare to enjoy the four seasons, not THE Four Seasons!

KEY FEATURES:

-Kid and Dog-Friendly: A baby/doggy gate and high chair are always available. There is a Pack and Play for an additional cleaning fee. For doggos we have bowls for food and water, a long lead for more freedom on the property, an extra leash, and a travel bowl for hiking. The back deck is fully enclosed.

-Dedicated sit-stand desk with treetop views facing north (no sun in your eyes!)

-Living Area: Cozy up to the amazing brick fireplace while enjoying the view through the soaring, 2-story windows.

-Play and Create: Two shelves of books from board books to novels, nature books to poetry. Board games and puzzles, there is also a wood balancing game for littles and a Snap Circuits science game for 8+. Art supplies include colored pencils, a desktop watercolor easel with paint, and a roll of butcher paper if inspiration strikes! The community playground features a climbing wall along with the usual elements.

-Bedrooms feature black-out shades and 100% cotton bedding

-Kitchen: The well-stocked, non-toxic kitchen is ready for your culinary adventures, whether making pizza from scratch or brewing coffee with the Keurig, French press, or pour-over. Tea amenities too!

-Two-person hammock on East deck allows you to lounge length or width-wise. *New* second hammock under some mature oaks for forest bathing.

-*New* Rocking chairs inside and out!

-Cabin is one street away from a trail with “scavenger hunt" elements (gnomes and mushrooms galore!) It will get you to the village in ~15 minutes.

-Sleeping Arrangements: Comfortably sleeps 4. The listing says "accommodates up to 6" to include a baby co-sleeping or children sharing a bunk. It does not accommodate six adults.

CABIN QUIRKS: Please note the hot water in the downstairs tub turns the wrong way. The glazing in the tub has seen better days, but we embrace the DIY charm!

GUEST ACCESS

You'll have access to the entire cabin with the exception of a few locked closets. You are also welcome to use the community clubhouse amenities, which include:

-Seasonal swimming pool and hot tub (daily fee, pay at the Clubhouse reception)

-Tennis courts and a golf course (pay greens fee at pro shop)

-Game/rec room: pool table, ping pong, video games, and a piano

-Exercise classes: lots of activities every day. Some may have fees.

INTERACTIONS AND COMMUNICATION

This is our personal mountain home, and we are excited to share it with you. While we won't be present during your stay, we respect your privacy but are always available via the app or phone if you need anything. Our goal is to ensure your stay is as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

Please read the "BEFORE YOU ARRIVE" document before you leave home as the cell signal is spotty on the drive up and we want to ensure you have any questions answered before you are en route. The only cell service that is reliable on the mountain is VERIZON so please plan accordingly.

OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE

-Dog Fee: We allow a maximum of two, well-trained dogs. There is a fee of $35/per doggo/per night plus 6% Kern County Tax that must be paid separately. Please wash/brush your fur babies before you arrive.

-BBQ use fee: to pay for propane and deep cleaning, there is a $35 BBQ fee.

-Bear Awareness: This is bear country. Do not feed wildlife, directly or indirectly. Keep all food and trash inside, lock your car doors, and clean the BBQ after use. Unleashed dogs are the number one cause of bear attacks.

-Our Home: This is our personal home, not an investment property. We have four exterior cameras for security purposes. You will be charged for any broken or missing items. We appreciate you treating our sanctuary with respect.

-Mountain Utilities: You are in a forest! The high-speed internet (400mbs) is fantastic 99% of the time, but power and internet can occasionally go out. This is part of the slow, relaxed pace of mountain life. The clubhouse and town have free WiFi if needed.

-Do Not Unplug: A heater that keeps the pipes from freezing is plugged in at the front exterior of the house. Please do not unplug it for any reason.

-Pine Mountain Club is a small, tight-knit community. It is also an HOA so there are a number of rules in order to maintain the peaceful vibe we all love. Breaking a town ordinance can result in fines. A list of the key ordinances is on the refrigerator but some include no filming, no parties, no loud noises, quiet hours from 10pm - 8am, no open fires, no weapons, pets must be leashed. Thanks for helping to keep our mountain peaceful and safe.

Liability: By booking, you agree to release us of all liability related to any injury or property damage you may incur during your stay and agree that you have read and agree to all of the house rules.
