The home has a metal roof and no attic space, so you’ll clearly hear the sound of rain during storms. Many guests find it peaceful and part of the authentic mountain cabin experience.

Our cabin sits tucked in the woods at the base of Bald Mountain, surrounded by nature — which means you may encounter some of our local neighbors like squirrels, deer, or the occasional bug. We treat the property regularly, but being in the mountains, it’s impossible to keep nature completely outside. We recommend keeping doors closed and food sealed to help minimize any curious visitors.

All roads are paved, driveway is paved and a little steep but can be accessed by regular vehicles. AWD OR 4WD is recommended with winter weather. Lower-than-standard cars could scrape at the bottom of the driveway.
Maximum 2 cars per booking.

Cabin is tucked away just enough to provide the peaceful atmosphere needed to relax and unwind. Clean and comfortable. Watch deer in early morning and fireflies at dusk from the decks. Host was wonderful in communication; very helpful and friendly. Great little place to escape the everyday life for a little while!

About the host

Host profile image
We're Allison and Juan, a husband and wife team from the Atlanta area who fell in love with the North Georgia mountains and wanted to share that experience with others. As a real estate professional and a tech enthusiast, we've put a lot of thought into making Brasstown Blue both comfortable and well-maintained, the kind of place where everything just works. We're responsive, attentive hosts who genuinely want your stay to be a highlight of your year. Whether you're planning an adventure-packed trip or just need to unplug and breathe some mountain air, we're here to help make it happen.

Why they chose this property

Hiawassee and the Lake Chatuge area is one of North Georgia's best-kept secrets — tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Tennessee and North Carolina borders, it has the beauty of a destination like Asheville without the crowds or the prices. We chose this specific spot because it offers the best of everything: quick access to Lake Chatuge's beach and boat launch, a short drive to Helen Alpine Village, proximity to Brasstown Bald (Georgia's highest peak), and a genuine sense of peace and quiet that's hard to find anywhere close to Atlanta. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down — and we think that's exactly what most people need.

What makes this property unique

Brasstown Blue stands out because it was designed as a true retreat, not just a place to sleep. The screened-in porch with rocking chairs, the propane firepit, the wooded views, and the sound of rain on the metal roof all add up to an experience guests consistently describe as relaxing and restorative. It's one of the few pet-friendly options in the area with a fully fenced outdoor space, so your dogs get a vacation too. The cottage is cozy enough for a romantic getaway but sleeps up to 4, making it great for small families or friend groups. And unlike many mountain rentals, all roads and the driveway are fully paved — no white-knuckling it up a gravel mountain road to get here.
