Upon arrival you realize this is the Eastern Shore Experience you have been looking for......A gated garden welcomes you to this charming Bayside cottage that has been completed renovated to take advantage of the broad views of the Chesapeake Bay. You can sip your coffee in the gated garden with the flora and the fauna, catch your crab dinner from the private pier, then enjoy your freshly steamed crabs on a outdoor picnic table watching a spectacular sunset. There is no better way to spend a summer evening!
The screen porch is the perfect setting to sip a beverage and watch the Osprey catch their dinner. On colder days, there is a cozy seating area in the great room that also affords you the beautiful views. You can even start a fire in the unique, European style, glass enclosed fireplace in the great room. The dining areas in the home are many from the waterside cafe table, screen porch dining area, breakfast bar or formal dining area, you choose what suits your mood! Preparing a meal or steaming your crabs in the well equipped kitchen is a great experience.
There is also a gas grill available for you to use. When's its time to leave this little paradise you can stroll to the village of Tilghman, explore the harbor of a true working waterman's village, visit the museum or Nautucal bookstore, grab ice cream at the Country Store or vist a local restaurant. Many destinations are just a short stroll away. The property is perfect for a romantic getaway or family vacation. All bedrooms are located on the main level for easy access. Stay for a week or just a long weekend - your visit to the land of pleasant living will be memorable and enjoyable.
Once you decide to book this property the 4% Talbot County room tax fee will be added to your bill. This will show as a administration fee on your statement and only the daily rate will be taxed. Check in is 5pm check out 10am.

Very last minute long weekend vacation at a wonderful house with beautiful views. The team was super helpful in quickly accommodating our day before reservation. The house was wonderful and clean. Awesome location

Beautiful views of the Chesapeake, from a well constructed and appointed home. In addition to the spacious open plan main area, the outdoor space was expansive and the daily sunsets were magnificent! Interactions with the agent and homeowner were excellent. Clearly a loved home to be enjoyed!

This was the best VRBO property we have rented so far. It was very clean, well stocked, accurately described and just so very nice. Perfection on Tilghman's Island

Absolutely beautiful property with the most amazing Chesapeake Bay views. Totally equipped with the best of everything, you can see the bay from almost every window in the house. Very quiet location, short walk to "town" and the Country Store. Beds were top rate as were all the furnishings. We could live here. There are 2 Master Bedrooms (plus a 3rd bedroom) and they are on opposite sides of the house, for added privacy. Would book again with out hesitation.

Peaceful sunset bay views

We loved the spacious clean house, quiet neighborhood, and the many sunsets we enjoyed from the screen porch. Three suggestions to improve guest experience are to add a passcode lock to eliminate stops in St Michael’s to pick up and drop off the key; get a better mattress/futon and proper bed pillows for the pull-out bed in the study (otherwise it doesn’t really work as a bedroom); and add a serrated bread knife to the otherwise well-stocked kitchen. But those suggestions aside, this was among our best VRBO experiences.

We absolutely loved this property. The photos are completely accurate. The view is unparalleled. The house is clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The area is very quiet and peaceful. There are kayaks (though we were there in March and unable to use them due to the weather). You are within walking distance of The Country Store, the draw bridge, and several other restaurants (we recommend the Wylder). Biking on the island was wonderful. Overall, it was a perfect retreat.

Fabulous place to spend Thanksgiving

Even though it was the coldest Thanksgiving Day on record, we had a wonderful time at Sunset Cottage. The fireplace really made for a warm and cozy day. The kitchen is BEAUTIFUL and wonderful to cook in. No, we did not have turkey. But Sea Bass and Crab Cakes are also great on T-Day. My son who lives in NYC loved making pies on the granite counter tops. So glad there were 2 pie plates because he forgot his. The most magical sunset was on Thursday night. Beds were comfy and everything was sparkly clean. Thank you Ruth for a lovely house to give thanks with my family. Plenty of space for us.

Sunset Cove getaway

The location and view of the bay and sunsets are outstanding. The interior is also beautiful, especially in the living room and kitchen/ dining room areas. The two bedrooms and baths are very accomodating with great views . The 3rd bedroom/office doesn't have a very comfortable bed-more like a futon , but has a bathroom down the hall. I have stayed here twice now and totally enjoyed my stay both times. Both times, however, I had difficulty operating the TV setup , particularly for Sports unless you choose to sign up for a so called 30 day trial with a Sports network, like FUBO. The new owners are planning to uncomplicate the setup and were in direct communication with us trying to fix the limited access issues. All in all, it is a beautiful, well equipped getaway. Check out Marker Five restaurant for food and drink-just down the road.

Even better than the photos!

We stayed for one week at Sunset Cottage. The cottage is larger than we thought - plenty of space to spread out. Everything was very clean. The main bedroom is spacious and we liked being able to look out the window at the bay while we showered : ). The kitchen is very well equipped EXCEPT for a working can opener. The can opener simply doesn't work so we couldn't make some of our standard meals like chili..... Lots of ingredients already in stock. Plenty of plates, glasses, utensils. We liked the little village of Tilghman and enjoyed walking all over the area every evening. And ... the views were wonderful! Huge windows on the whole west side of the cottage. We could watch fishing boats, sail boats and the osprey nest in front of the neighbor's cottage as the parents took turns tending the chicks. Glorious sunsets, and wonderful views even on rainy evenings. 17 minute drive through pretty countryside to St Michaels.Note: I rated the Check in process as a 4 because it was a little bit inconvenient to have to pick up and drop off the key; most properties have a digital key, which is more convenient but also means we don't have to worry about losing our only key! Lexi answered all of our questions immediately. Thank you!

We stayed 3 nights. This is one of the best trips we had to Eastern Shore. Thanks Lexi and home owner for taking our last minute booking and always being prompt in responding to our questions. The property is well stocked. Except for a short trip to St. Michaels, we stayed at the vacation house entire time. Kids loved fishing and crabbing off the dock and we also kayaked. The sunset was amazing. One of the evenings the weather turned stormy. Waching the storm approaching over the water with the skyline changing shapes and colors was such a unique experience. Thanks for letting us use your beautiful vacation house!

Sunset cottage lives up to its name

Our family of four had a wonderful stay at sunset cottage over Thanksgiving week. The home was just as pictured and described. We especially enjoyed the open floor plan for kitchen, dining room and living room. The water view from these spaces was fantastic, and the front garden was a special treat. Sunset cottage was the perfect spot to get away from it all for a few days!

Wonderful weekend getaway!

The home was beautiful, comfortable and a welcome respite from a busy time in our life. There are outdoor/ indoor living areas for solitude or you can enjoy each other's company. My husband and I went with our best friends. We have stayed in the area many times over the years but enjoyed being on Tilghman for its uniqueness but proximity to St. Michaels. Property manager very responsive when Internet went down briefly. Highly recommend. We will come back!

Lovely property with all the comforts of home

Easy check in. Beautiful views. Comfortable accommodation. Great kitchen. Private dock. Quiet neighborhood. Two wings separated by living area, one with one bedroom en suite, the other with 2 bedrooms and baths. This suited us perfectly (grandparents with married couple and grandchild). Fishing and crabbing was not very good off the dock. The water is quite shallow and the channel is a way off. We did not try at night. Also, the kayaks do not have an easy in-out launch.
