Saw someone else mention in a review they weren't happy because there are guns that were locked up on the property cause they’ve had traumatic experiences with them in the past. I too have had a traumatic experience with a gun, I missed a very nice buck once and it was definitely the guns fault. Stay was excellent. If I had to complain it was very hot during our stay and there is no central air, but two window ac units kept it comfortable.
We stayed here in 2024 and this year as this is right on the Paul Bunyan bike trail and close to the Heartland trail. The property and very relaxing and enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching sunsets!
The views from this property are beautiful. It is clean and well furnished with a large lot, paved driveway and well maintained yard. We also enjoyed the early mornings in the porch area relaxing with a cup of coffee. Will definitely stay here again.
We love to bicycle and this location is right on the bike trail with access to over 150 miles of trails. Great place and beautiful view of the lake and sunsets. Definitely would do again.
We stayed at this beautiful property as we are bikers and wanted something close to the trails. This location is right on the Paul Bunyan trail. After biking, we were able to enjoy the dock and swimming was great! The sunsets were gorgeous! The cabin had everything we needed as well for the week.
This cabin is as beautiful as the pictures in the posting and the sunsets even more gorgeous and breath-taking than photos can show. Right on the lake, it is quiet and lovely. The home is right on one of the major bike trails, giving access to miles of trails either way from Walker. The place is a short drive into Walker where there are restaurants, stores and groceries. It is about 1/2 hour from Itaska State park as well. Truly a great experience.
The property, the lakefront location, the fire pit, the proximity to everything are worth the price. We had perfect fall weather, and the colors were near prime. We really appreciated the location for our needs. The bathrooms are updated and nice, the cabin is cozy but dated in some areas. Great spot for privacy and lake front access for a boat and access to Leech Lake fishing. Dock set up is very nice but also needs some updating for next season.
The week we were there we experienced all of Minnesota weather conditions. We enjoyed the bike path the fishing the 4 wheeler trails. I agree with the previous review. Home is very nice but could use some updating especially the dock getting a bit rickety. Over all we love this place and always enjoy our time there

We just continue enjoying this rental. Super nice upgrades to the bathrooms
Everything is very handy. One suggestion wools be to upgrade gas grill It works but has its quirks. Even with the unstable weather we had this week we were able to fish hike bike and 4 wheeler ride all the things we love about this area. Thanks
We have always enjoyed this place and figured out that this was our sixth fall coming to kabekona bay. Just live it. Thanks for continuing to rent during the whole Covid thing!!!
1. Kabekona Bay was fairly quiet even on 4th of July week. Great water depth for our boat...nice landing nearby...easy to keep boat safe at the dock. Nice yard and huge driveway.
2. There are firearms on the property - some as decor...some chained up with a bike lock. Unsettling if you brought youngsters...or if you've had gun-related trauma. I have no issues with gun ownership, but wish they were locked in a safe in a rental property. Bottom drawer of oven filled with rodent killer and a foul odor. Deck boards rotten in several locations. Zero smoke detectors were working (no batteries) when we arrived. We added batteries. We had to replace some burned out lightbulbs (there were some on site, which was nice). Master bed is very, very soft. Mattress is so thick, the sheets don't stay on. There are 7 dinner plates and 3 steak knives. No pizza pan or cookie sheets. Really nice knives, mixer, and pots/pans, though. 1960's wallpaper, cabinetry, and gross carpet in the kitchen.
3. Convenient check in/check out and great communication. We had a nice stay, but some improvements need to be made to the property (safety, docks, carpet).

I’d like to address a few of your comments.
1. Any firearms that fire are securely locked up with a cable and there is no ammunition on the property for them to be fired with in the event one were to be cut loose. The two pistols are black powder antique decor and do not fire. If you had concerns during your stay - give me a call. Other guests at our cabin have never had issue with them. I’m sorry it bothered u.
2. The mouse poison under sinks and stove are preventative maintenance measures. The cabin has no mice.
3. I’m sorry the smoke detectors were not working and a few bulbs must have burnt out. We have a ton of batteries and light bulbs in the laundry room for guest use in the event of issue.
4. Cookie sheets as pizza pan are in the cupboard below the potholder drawer.
5. Not sure what to say about the bed being too soft. This is our cabin and we love a soft bed. Sorry that wasn’t fitting your sleep style.
6. I will get more steak knives. Other guests must have ran off with them or accidentally thrown them out.
The rest of the cabin with respect to its vintage charm is how we like it. It’s a cabin. It’s a great value close to town. And guests have loved its charm… If it were nicer home the price would be double.
I hope your stay elsewhere next time is more enjoyable.
The home is an older cabin that has grown over the years that gives a very cozy, quaint feel. There are things that could be updated as mentioned in other reviews but overall a nice place to stay. There are a couple of items that are misleading in the description of the home. The twins beds are set up like a trundle bed in a small room with the queen bed which did not work for our group. The rest of the house overall was great! It has a big kitchen and dining space along with two nice bathrooms for many people to stay. The dock is a little old but big and allowed us to keep both our boats tied up in the water. The only thing I didn't notice in the photos was how steep the stairs to get to the dock were. It was ok for us but not always ideal for others. The yard was big and has the best views of the lake and all the beautiful sunsets to make a person never want to leave. If you love wildlife and enjoy watching them this is the home for you. There is an abundance of birds, ducks, squirrels and deer to keep you entertained. This home was overall a great place to stay and enjoy a fishing trip to a beautiful area with the entire family.

Originally from Walker, we now live in Minneapolis but come up to the cabin as much as we can. You just can't recreate the good vibes of small town Northern Minnesota. This home is our haven - a true place to relax, rejuvenate and create lifelong memories with family and friends. We hope your stay here will do the same!
Why they chose this property
Leech Lake is a big and wonderful lake. A real gem and one of Minnesota's largest lakes. But with the home on the smaller, more calm-watered Kabekona Bay, you can have the best of both worlds. Quick, easy access to world-renowned Walleye fishing or a lovely day of swimming in the bay.
It's perfect for our family and doing all the activities we love...fishing, swimming, evening boat rides, lakeshore lunches.
Kabekona Bay is known for its breathtaking sunsets! It also offers a quieter bay that is directly connected to Walker Bay!
