About this property

Log LODGE on 10 Acre Horse Ranch w MTN Views

GRAND RE-OPENING: Super Hosts & Owners, Stephen and Kathleen, are back Hosting, and invite you to their log Home, known as the "LODGE". It is within their property that is named Almost Heaven Ranch, which is on Almost Heaven Road, in Boone, North Carolina. The LODGE is newly re-decorated in the RALPH LAUREN NAVAJO RANCH STYLE, and sleeps 7.

This terrific LODGE offers a soothing retreat for guests seeking comfort and space. It has a logged exterior and interior, with numerous round pine logs, and three beautiful decks for long range mountain views, that will take your breath away! The decks make it easy to see the horses, plentiful deer, and other wildlife. It is especially wonderful to have your morning coffee on the deck off of the Dining Room, while swinging on the large two-seater wooden swing.

Guests enjoy cozy heating throughout the LODGE, between a Monitor Heater and large Fire Place and Chimney in the Living Room, upgraded baseboard and electrical radiant heating throughout, a wood burning stove in the Kitchen, and another Fire Place and Chimney in the Master Bedroom.

In the Master Bedroom is a King size four poster bed made out of Hickory, with a brand new mattress, and a twin bed. The Master sleeps 3, or 5 with a Queen size Air Mattress. It has a very large chimney and a very large Jacuzzi type jetted tub in the Ensuite, which is perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure, hiking or skiing, or just to start a beautiful day. While soaking, the tub is perfectly positioned for watching the games or other shows on the TV that is attached on the Fire Place Mantle,

The Living Room doubles as a bedroom, as it has its own full bathroom and door to the rest of the Lodge. It also is wonderful for working at the large desk (dedicated work space), which has its own beautiful views from its own picture window. In the Living Room, the LODGE has a pull out Queen sized couch that sleeps 2. The Air Mattress can be used in the Living Room, or wherever desired.

The KITCHEN separates the Master and the Living Room, and has a Wood Burning Stove, along with an electric stove, AND... it has a COWBOY BAR in the Dining Room. You have to see the pictures on this site to believe it.

Guests have full access to the Main House, with the exception of the unfinished walk-in basement, for now. Coming soon: One half of the walk-in basement will be transformed into a Gym, with Guest Laundry Facilities. Keep checking this site for updates.

Guests also have access to the woods for hiking, foraging, star gazing, enjoying wildlife, fire flies in the spring, and just enjoying the excitement, sights and smells of this part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the winter, Tubing and Sledding down into the Pastures, are magical.

The Property and old gray barns, are reminiscent of Watauga County's ByGone era. The stalls are not fancy, but they are functional, and many beautiful horses, including Arabians, Saddlebreds, and Friesian horses, have called Almost Heaven Ranch, Home.

The horses are all privately owned. During the winters, the owners may decide to take them off of the mountain, for their health and safety. Donner, the miniature donkey, and Blitzen, the miniature horse (yes, Donner and Blitzen), are usually around for comic relief, and a carrot or four. This winter they are Snow Birds, and are in Florida. Feel free to pet and love on the larger horses, whose owners may wish to stall them at the Ranch this winter. Otherwise, there are horses and horseback riding, yearlong, nearby.

This is a very special place. It is for those who love nature, love animals (both wild and tame), love stars, love wild flowers, love mountains, love old barns, love Hummingbirds, love foraging and hiking, and love the smell and the sounds of the forest. If you are one of those special people, we would love to share our LODGE and Ranch with you!

We will be available, via text, to offer help throughout your stay, and will provide our text number upon booking. Additionally, the Ranch Manager, who lives very nearby, is helpful to our guests.

For larger parties, or for guests who simply would like additional room, please check with your Hosts upon booking to see if the Guesthouse is available.

Whether relaxing in the Living Room in front of a fire, or soaking in the tub, this awesome LODGE creates a welcoming atmosphere. It faces north, so there are no lights or sounds from the Town of Boone, or ASU, which are both only 10 minutes away.
