About this property

Newfound Lake 5BR, Private Beach & Kayaks, Ski 10 Min, Sleeps 10, Dog Friendly

Clover Cottage is a pet-friendly, 5-bedroom lake retreat sleeping 10, with private beach access steps across the road. Two kayaks, beach chairs, and life jackets are all yours. Gather at the big dining table, the propane fire pit, or the stone gas fireplace. Swim and paddle all summer, watch the foliage come in over the water in fall, ski Tenney (10 min) or Ragged (25 min) in winter — our dirt driveway is plowed and sanded all season. A/C, fast Wi-Fi, gate to keep kids and dogs off the road.

Our spacious cabin blends rustic charm with modern comfort — a warm, inviting escape for family holidays, reunions, and wedding or graduation weekends. Inside you'll find wood-paneled walls, exposed beams, and a central stone gas fireplace.

Only 3 steps to the front door, plus a full bedroom and bathroom on the main floor — good for anyone who'd rather not do stairs.

THE SPACE

LIVING ROOM — Cozy gas fireplace, lake views, board games, a kids' taco truck toy play stand, and a Roku Smart TV that logs your streaming accounts out automatically at checkout.

KITCHEN — Fully equipped with wood cabinetry, baking sheets, cooking oil, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayo, tin foil, and leftovers Tupperware.

DINING AREA — Large family dining table for shared meals and board games.

COFFEE & TEA — Nespresso machine with a few pods to get you started, plus tea bags, creamer, half-and-half pods, and sugar. We also have a Keurig and a drip coffee maker (BYO grounds/K-cups).

TECH — Dedicated workspace at a small desk in the first-floor bedroom or the large dining table. Fast Wi-Fi throughout (cell service can be spotty out here). Bedside outlets with built-in USB ports.

CONVENIENCE — Washer and dryer (BYO detergent), air conditioning, on-demand hot water so it never runs out with a full house, and whole-house water treatment (UV, softener, and an under-sink filter) so the tap water is clean and drinkable.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS

FIRST FLOOR — Bedroom 1 (Queen). Full bathroom with walk-in shower, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Ideal for anyone avoiding stairs.

SECOND FLOOR — Bedroom 2 (Queen), Bedroom 3 (two twins, great for kids), Bedroom 4 (Queen), Bedroom 5 (Full). Second full bathroom with walk-in shower. Extra blankets and a few books for kids and grown-ups.

TODDLER TUB — One portable toddler bathtub on-site, usable in either walk-in shower.

WINTER READY

Boot and shoe cabinet at the entry for wet gear, a humidifier for dry winter nights, and a dirt driveway our plow service clears, salts, and sands within 24 hours of a storm ending. Tenney is 10 minutes, Ragged 25.

OUTDOOR AND SAFETY

LAWN & DECK — Front porch with lake views, modern composite deck, large yard, cornhole set, and an outdoor hose to rinse off sandy paws or toys.

ENTERTAINMENT — Grill and a propane fire pit with seating (no firewood needed).

SAFETY — Retractable driveway gate to keep kids and dogs back from the road. Emergency flashlight in the kitchen drawer.

THE BEACH

PRIVATE PLOT — Just steps across the road. Shaded lounge area under the deck, adult and kid-sized beach chairs, beach towels (kept inside the house), beach toys, USCG-approved life jackets in child, youth, and adult sizes, and two kayaks. Guests with infants or toddlers should bring their own life jackets.

TERRAIN — About 50 feet wide, with sand on one side and rocks on the other. The beach grows and shrinks with the lake level through the season. Stairs lead down to the shoreline.

BOATS & PARKING — We can't dock or store boats at our shoreline plot, but there's a public launch just across the bay. Boat trailers are welcome — park at the lower end of the driveway, and please keep all vehicles on the gravel.

LOCATION

ICE CREAM — Idle A While is open seasonally, right next to our beach access. Swim, kayak, then walk next door (summer only).

DINNER — The Inn on Newfound Lake is a quarter mile away, an easy 5-minute walk for dinner, drinks, and lake views. The Big Catch in Bristol is a 10-minute drive (summer only). Last Chair Brewery and downtown Plymouth dining are a few minutes' drive.

HIKING — Little and Big Sugarloaf are about 10 minutes away, both family-friendly with lake views from the top. Little Sugarloaf is the shorter of the two and easy enough with kids. Sculptured Rocks gorge in Groton is another 10-minute drive.

DAY TRIPS — Waterville Valley and Flume Gorge are each about 40 minutes; Mt. Cardigan about 45. For a rainy day with kids, Polar Caves in Rumney is about 20 minutes and Funspot in Laconia — the world's largest arcade — is about 30.

GROCERIES — 10 minutes to Walmart and Hannaford.

About the host

Hosted by Brendan Collins

Host profile image
We're Brendan and Bijaya, and we live outside Boston. Clover Cottage came to us from my parents. My family has been coming to Newfound since the 1960s, and my (Brendan's) dad grew up spending his summers on this lake — so this house has been part of our family for a long time before it was ever a rental.

We host it ourselves. When you message, you're reaching us, not a management company. We have a local cleaner who's here between every stay and knows the house as well as we do, and trusted help nearby if anything needs fixing while you're here.

Why they chose this property

We didn't choose it so much as inherit it. Three generations of my family have spent summers on Newfound, one of the cleanest lakes in New Hampshire and in the US.

From the house you can walk a quarter mile to the Inn for dinner, or step across the road to the beach and grab ice cream next door in the summer. Plymouth is ten minutes for groceries or a brewery. In winter Tenney is ten minutes up the road and Ragged is 20 minutes away.

What makes this property unique

The private beach. It's ours alone — about fifty feet of shoreline directly across the road, with two kayaks, chairs, and a shaded spot under the deck. Most rentals on Newfound share access with a dozen other houses or have none at all.

The other thing is that it genuinely works year-round. A/C for summer, a stone gas fireplace and a plowed dirt driveway for winter, five bedrooms and a table big enough that ten people aren't on top of each other. It's great for hosting large groups of families and friends.
