We loved it, visited in the winter, although we were sad there wasn't snow, the property was beautiful, the cabin is beautiful and the view is spectacular
We enjoyed a wonderful getaway at this truly rustic cabin. The antique decor captures the charm of classic Kootenay cabin living, making the space feel both nostalgic and welcoming. Visiting during the cool early-winter season made our evening walk along the shores of Duncan Lake feel absolutely majestic. Our host was down-to-earth, easy to reach, and communicated promptly every step of the way. We would happily stay here again
Duncan Lake Escape could not be a more fitting description for this idyllic, beautifully built cabin. Our host, Paul was gracious and provided great information for everything we needed to know. Our stay was so peaceful, giving us the opportunity to really recharge and relax. The lake is a short walk down the road and absolutely breathtaking - the photos can never do it justice. Our two pups also had the time of their lives exploring the beach and surrounding woods. There were so many highlights to our trip, the absolute silence, the cozy wood fireplace at night, the spotlessly clean hot-tub, sitting around the fire-pit with a glass of wine, however, our absolute favourite would have to be the sounds of wolves howling early in the morning on one of our walks making this a real trip to remember.

It was a pleasure to host Mitchell and his group! Communication was a breeze and they left the home in great condition. I would not hesitate to recommend Mitchell to any future hosts!
Was a lovely property and great location, I would highly recommend to my friends and family. Lots to see and explore in the area, but had no problem just spending time in the hot tub!

Thank you Cindy for the great review! So glad you enjoyed our little gem:)
Great location, house well equipped. Great hot tub and eating area outside. Lots of room to park. Just difficult to get up in top bunk bed, maybe it has something to do with my age.

About the host
Hosted by Paul
Hi! As a fellow who loves the outdoors and anything nature, I built this cabin over a 3 year period. As a wood worker, I literally dreamed of and put all of my finest woods and skills into this project! Initially, I built is solely for myself and my family, so it is definitely not built to "rental spec". But instead to nurture peace, warmth and comfort in any and all seasons and weather! I hope my quests can experience the same feelings as I do each and every time I arrive!
Why they chose this property
In looking for the perfect location to purchase property in a unique and away from it all locale, be surrounded by all the the wilderness and nature has to offer, I discovered the unique "flavour" of Howser! While there are a dozen neighbouring properties, none are in view, as they are all acreages. I was lucky enough to wait till the most lovely acreage steps from a lovely swimming beach came along, and have never tired of it since!
What makes this property unique
Absolute silence, end of the road location, no distance highway noise, trains, light pollution ..... just the sounds of the wind and the birds!
