About the host
Hosted by Cheryle/Owner
My husband and I have been visiting the picturesque Gulf Shores area for decades. After 40+ years of marriage, we've settled on a quaint farm in central Alabama, raising two boys and doting on our beloved granddaughter. The allure of the beach and fishing has always captivated our family, leading us to dream of owning a house in the area. Fortunately, the short 4-hour drive allows us to visit frequently and make the most of our coastal retreat.
In recent years, we've channeled our passion for construction into building a home nearby, which we plan to call our retirement haven. As seasoned General Contractors, we've honed our skills, custom-building multiple homes in the area and completely remodeling others.

Why they chose this property
Over two decades ago, we had the pleasure of visiting this property when a dear friend was staying at the original home. As longtime admirers of waterfront properties, we were thrilled when this stunning bay-front home became available through a close friend. The original cabin, built in 1956, was one of the older homes in the area. In 2020, Hurricane Sally caused substantial damage, we repaired the home while maintaining some of its old charm. Unfortunately time and nature finally took its toll and we had to demolish the original cabin and replace with this newer home. The breathtaking sunsets and sunrises are simply unbelievable. The area is serene and peaceful, providing an idyllic setting. The fishing and crabbing opportunities are truly outstanding.
What makes this property unique
Fort Morgan, a hidden gem on the Alabama coast, offers a tranquil and adventure-filled vacation destination. This waterfront home boasts a private pier and a bay front swimming pool providing a peaceful escape from the crowds. The nearby Bay waters teem with abundant marine life, making it a prime fishing spot, whether you prefer casting from the shore or embarking on a deep-sea excursion.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the area's rich history, exploring the many museums and historic sites dotting the landscape. Birdwatchers and hikers will delight in the network of trails and hidden nooks, allowing them to discover the diverse natural wonders of the region.
Accommodations in Fort Morgan cater to the whole family, including pet-friendly rentals where furry companions are welcomed. The serene beaches and coastal setting provide the perfect backdrop for a rejuvenating getaway, away from the hustle and bustle of more populous tourist destinations.
This area is the only place on Earth where you can find this particular species of beach mice. These unsung heroes play a vital role in preserving the beach ecosystem by carrying the seeds of sea oats and other plants back to their burrows, helping spread these important species to new locations.
During your visit, you'll find plenty of temptations to lure you away from your rental. Golf enthusiasts will be delighted by the nearby high-quality courses, while foodies will be impressed by the diverse dining options. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a casual meal, the local restaurants will deliver a memorable experience. And if you still have energy after dinner, the vibrant nightlife offers the perfect capstone to a wonderful day.
Another must-see attraction is the Fort Morgan Historic Site and Museum, ensuring there's something to captivate every type of traveler.
