About this property
Lakefront home with private dock! Family owned and loved. ❤️ Beautiful Smoky Lake
Enjoy our family’s home when we can’t be there ourselves. Wonderful 4 Season vacation spot. Perfect for families or friend groups. Comes with bikes, kayaks, canoe…
We now have broadband internet too (if you need to check-in with work or want a better “work from home” location).
Our beautiful home is located on Smoky Lake- which is a quiet, family-friendly lake with excellent fishing and swimming and no other rental opportunities. Our 3 bedroom, 2 bath, lake front home is outfitted with new furnishings, bedding, kitchen equipment, etc. Check out our pictures to get a good feel for all the home has to offer.
Smoky Lake (a 600 acre lake with depths over 70 feet- straddles the Wisconsin/Michigan border about 25 minutes north of Eagle River, WI) is known for its crystal clear water, beautiful shorelines and breathtaking surrounding landscapes. Smoky is a local favorite known for excellent fishing (with lots of small mouth bass, nice bluegills, and the occasional musky). Note that the lake straddles Wisconsin and Michigan border but is mostly in Michigan. The Wisconsin DNR site only describes the piece of the lake that is in WI - thus it understates the lake size by at least a factor of 3. Most of the homes on Smoky Lake are hidden from view behind trees- which gives you a feeling of being immersed in nature when you are out on the lake.
Smoky Lake is a peaceful, family-oriented lake with many long term owners who treasure it. Our home comes equipped with a one person kayak, a two person kayak with rudder, a stand up paddle board, a canoe and 7 new life jackets of varying sizes. There is a public access boat ramp nearby that you can use to put in your own boat (which you can then park at our private dock). Or, there are several local businesses that will deliver a pontoon or other boat rental type or jet skis to our lake and pick up when you are done. We recommend Bubba's Boats or the Rental Shack who will deliver boats right to our dock- but there are others as well if you google "boat rentals" and make a few phone calls. It is best to reserve boats in advance because they can run out at busy times.
We have a great deck overlooking the lake that is equipped with table, chairs, tiki torches, and a new gas grill. We also have a fire-pit surrounded by colorful Adirondack chairs which overlooks the lake. Our private dock has a built in bench for enjoying your morning coffee or afternoon adult beverage of choice. Our kids love catching fish after fish right off the dock. The dock also has a new swim ladder to make it easier to get from lake to dock.
The house is perfect for families and comes equipped with board games, lawn games, bikes, kids books, DVDs, toys and a pack in play. The master bedroom closet is huge and empty and can serve as a nice sleeping room for a baby/child in the pack-in-play (nice for quiet naps) and/or younger kids in sleeping bags.
Important notes: As is common in the North Woods, Smoky Lake has spotty cell reception- so we have a landline phone in the home for your use.
Our home is also 1/2 mile away from Big Sand Lake Golf Course and Club for the golfers in your group.
There are many excellent trails in our area as well. We love the crushed gravel Conover-Phelps Trail which has a trail head on County K in Phelps and runs about 8 miles into Conover through the forests. We also enjoy the paved bike trail in Land o'Lakes which is pretty flat. The middle section leaving from Black Oak Lake parking lot and heading west is off road and best for younger bikers. The Three Eagle Trail which runs from Eagle River to Three Lakes is also quite beautiful!
In winter we are right on the network of hundreds of miles of snowmobile/snow shoeing/cross country skiing trails (in MI and WI), 20 miles from Ski Brule and ice fishing out the back door. Warm up by the fireplace when you are all done.

About the host
Hosted by Cheryl Syke

My husband, my 3 kids and I bought this house to enjoy together. We love the peacefulness of the home, Smoky Lake and relaxing in the north woods. We love fishing, running, biking, skiing, travel and drinking wine on the dock. We also enjoy the cute little 9 hole golf course that is about 1/2 mile away (Big Sand). You will love our home too.
Why they chose this property
We love how quiet and relaxing Smoky Lake is- yet its proximity to the national forest biking/hiking/snow shoeing/snow mobile trails, down-hill skiing at Brule & Big Snow (Indianhead/Blackjack) and all the fun of Eagle River is great. It is both away from the craziness yet right by many wonderful activities.
What makes this property unique
Our home is very well furnished with mostly new items and comes equipped with all you will need for days of family fun.
