You'll never want to leave. This home is a true haven, sitting directly on New River frontage, with a great river view from your private front porch. Watch the river flow or take a few steps and hop in! This beautiful home is spacious, accommodating, and fully outfitted with all the comforts of home.

While you enjoy the relaxing view from the deck, you can also keep an eye on the kids running around in the private, flat front yard. The river is shallow and slow-moving – enjoyable for all ages. There's plenty of outdoor furniture for all your friends and family, plus a charcoal grill for easy outdoor dining. Plan a picnic down at the water's edge, or end the day with marshmallows by the fire pit, with a billion stars above.

Once you tear yourself away from the scenery and come inside, you'll find a luxurious, well-appointed home environment, with large seating areas and comfortable furniture. The main level features an open floorplan, with a large living room, fireplace and TV. You'll love the huge modern kitchen with island, stainless appliances and everything you'll need for meals and entertainment. In addition, the main level includes a dining room, sitting room with fireplace, the master suite with its en suite updated bathroom, as well as another full bath, also equipped with a walk-in shower.

Upstairs find three more bedrooms and a full bath with a tub/shower combination. Two of the bedrooms have queen-sized beds and the third bedroom has a fun bunk bed – twin-sized on the upper level and full-sized below. The bunk room also includes full size futon, a TV and a DVD player – a perfect get-away for the kids.

Experience The High Country

Retriever Beach places you in a great location to discover all that the High Country has to offer in vacation enjoyment. Bring your fishing pole and good luck, since the New River is in your front yard. If you're looking for more invigorating water adventures, spend the day on a kayak, canoe or inner tube.

Retriever Beach is just a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and West Jefferson. Boone and Blowing Rock are a short, scenic 25 minute drive away. The ski resort at Sugar Mountain is only 40 minutes away. No matter what season it is, there are always a myriad of activities to enjoy, including hiking, horseback riding, volleyball and badminton during the warmer months, or sledding, snowboarding, skating – and of course skiing – all winter long.

The Blue Ridge Parkway offers numerous photo opportunities, hiking and bicycling trails and breathtaking long range vistas at the many scenic overlooks. Here, the journey's just as enjoyable as the destination, as gorgeous scenery awaits you at every turn. You'll understand how our mountains got their name!

In the quaint town of West Jefferson you have restaurants and terrific shopping, including antique stores and art galleries. There's even a movie theater. This is small-town Americana at its finest. Drive a little further to Boone or Blowing Rock, for an even wider assortment of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, or visit our craft breweries.

Property was spacious and very comfortable as advertised. Was a little disappointed in couple of issues, fire pit on porch, LP gas was empty, several days we could have enjoyed sitting on the porch, flood lights did not work, ironically the day we were leaving a tech showed up to fix them, obviously he knew before our stay…..no trash cans, went to dump several times using pass…

Best Ever!!! Even in the rain

We were so thrilled with the house and location...spectacular. We enjoyed the river access and had such a great time sitting out every evening on the deck with the fire pit. Even in the rains of Hurricane Delta we enjoyed our family indoor fun and ran outside to enjoy the beautiful yard once the rain stopped. We have decided this will be an annual trip for our family and we are already looking forward to being there in 2021. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I took our four kids (6, 5, 3, 1.5) to this property and it worked great for us! The oldest took the bunk room while the youngest were put in a room with a cot and pack and play (that we brought). Our first impression of the home was that the inside was much more spacious and well laid out than the pictures showed. It was very clean and had plenty of room for everyone to move around. The best part was the beach for the kids. There was about 100’ of shoreline that was easily to explore and wade around in, even for the littlest! Because the current is so swift in the middle and far side, we never went too deep, but the oldest loved floating from one end of the property to the other. Our only complaint was how cold the river water was, but what would you expect when we went in May. We had one small issue that was quickly addressed by the property management company. We will definitely rent this property again!

This place never disappoints

Second time staying and already booked for next trip. The house has everything you need. It rained the first 2 days but that was just fine and allowed us to talk and laugh,listen to it storm under the awesome covered porch. Property fks are a pleasure to work with and very accommodating.

We absolutely loved the house!!! Had everything we needed and space for the kids to run! Our friends rented near by but our house was the house we had Christmas dinner at. Between both family there’s 6 kids and two dogs. They had so much fun skipping rocks in the river. The house was super clean. Every night we had a family of deer come by. If it wasn’t a 13 hour drive from home we would definitely come again.

Amazing stay

We had a wonderful time, the property was amazing and easy to find. Close to down town. The only "problem" I had was working the outdoor gas fire pit and the fireplace inside, but that could have been user error. Even the pup had a great time. Would absolutely stay again and would recommend to anyone.

Perfect location!

We had a wonderful stay with our two Labrador retrievers. There were lots of walking trails around the property. The dogs had plenty of space to run around in the yard, and easy access to the river for swimming…… they would give this vacation high ratings for sure! The area was absolutely beautiful, as well as the home itself. We spent a lot of time on the large deck overlooking the river. There is a gate to keep the dogs on the deck when needed. We really enjoyed our time here!

It was hard to leave after an amazing week at Retriever Beach! The house was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and the perfect size and layout for our group. The private “beach” is the best for sitting with chairs out in the rubber watching the world go by. We’ll definitely be back!!!
