Welcome to The Harlequin by AvantStay!
Step into history and the heart of New Orleans at The Harlequin, where timeless character meets modern comfort on iconic Canal Street. Once home to New Orleans' first movie theater, this landmark building now reimagines its cinematic past as a collection of stylish, design-forward apartments, each one blending the energy of the city with the ease of home.
You’ll be staying in one of the most walkable locations in all of New Orleans, with a 100/100 walkability score. Step outside your door and find yourself surrounded by the best of the city: the French Quarter just a few blocks away, the buzz of Bourbon Street within minutes, and Jackson Square, the Saenger Theatre, and the St. Charles Streetcar line all close enough to reach before your coffee cools. Grab beignets at Café du Monde, stroll through the historic French Market, or wander along the riverfront for live jazz drifting on the breeze.
Inside, each apartment offers a calm retreat from the city’s excitement. In select suites, expansive windows let in the glow of Canal Street below, while newly refreshed interiors feature thoughtful design touches, curated art, and all the essentials for a seamless stay. Fully equipped kitchens make in-home dining easy, and cozy living areas with smart TVs invite you to unwind after a day of exploration. We have multiple spaces at this property, each designed to give you a beautiful place to stay. While our style is consistent, the view, layout, and design may vary.
Canal Street is one of New Orleans’ most storied and dynamic thoroughfares, a place where the city’s past and present come together in full color. Once known as the “neutral ground” dividing the French and American sectors, today it’s the heartbeat of downtown, connecting the French Quarter to the Central Business District and beyond. Lined with grand architecture, historic theaters, and the famous streetcar line, Canal Street offers effortless access to everything that makes New Orleans extraordinary. From here, you can wander to jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street, shop along Magazine Street, or catch a performance at the Saenger Theatre. And when it’s time to slow down, the Mississippi Riverfront and leafy squares provide the perfect contrast to the city’s lively rhythm. Whether you’re here for the music, the food, the festivals, or the unmistakable spirit that fills the air, Canal Street places you at the center of it all.

This location was clean, spacious, and comfortable. It was well-located for our needs and easy to check in and out. We had a very nice time with no trouble whatsoever.
Location was excellent! Staying on Canal Street, just 2 blocks from Bourbon Street and about a 5 minute walk to Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter was perfect for our family “adult Thanksgiving vacay”. We had a blast! The condo is well equipped and absolutely lovely. Security was amazing and we will definitely stay here again.
The property itself was amazing, very clean and the perfect size for 6 people in New Orleans. There was a little issue getting into the property at the beginning at which time it was difficult to get ahold of the host and VRBO customer service. Once we got that squared away, the rest of the stay was amazing!
Our unit was a spacious 3 br, 2 bath at the edge of the french quarter. We were quite happy with the space and the location. Space was clean. Beds comfortable, etc. A couple of minor issues for which management responded and would have sent someone to address if time had allowed (toaster didn't work, all in one washer/dryer took hours to get clothes to damp dry).
The condo was perfect for our daughter’s birthday. It was clean and stocked with plenty of towels. The only complaint was parking. The listing doesn’t specify no onsite parking which would have been helpful in planning. There is public paid parking at the end of the block which is close enough just would have been nice to know coming from California. Other than that it was a perfect location for everything. Highly recommend if you want a clean nice place to stay centrally located
WOW!
What a great place to stay in New Orleans.
Centrally located 1 block from Bourbon Street and very close to all other restaurants.
The condo was updatted, clean, and plenty of room for the family.
Customer service was amazing as well!
Highly recommended!!
