Spacious cottage, well located in southern Iceland. The cottage is near Hekla, Landmannalaugar, Þjófafoss, Fossabrekkur, Gjáin, Hjálparfoss, Fjallabakur, and many more famous places. Only 20 min drive from Hella and the highway. In the winter there is a possibility to see the famous northern lights. We're on Google Maps: Search for "Afternoon Cottages".

Cozy cottage surrounded by nice nature. You have almost everything you need in this cottage. It's just like a studio apartment. Well-equipped kitchen with a small fridge, 2 elements ceramic cooktop, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, and all the necessary kitchenware. You can use all the coffee and tea you need.

Large bed for two people, 50" TV on the wall to watch Netflix or the local TV station (RÚV). Duvets and duvet cover and a sheet on the bed will be ready. Two cozy armchairs for chilling. The dining table can be upsized (doubled) if you have friends staying in the other houses to have a meal with you or just chat over a cup of coffee.

Private bathroom with a toilet, shower, and a lovely lighting mirror over a sink. Towels are included. Hand- and bath soap is ready to be used.

Nice cottage in the countryside

Very nice cottage. Comfortable with all desired amenities. Great place to get away and feel closer to the surroundings. Only caution is on warm days, the cottage has no AC and can get very warm.

Great South Coast Get Away

This property had all the aspects we were looking for. A beautiful location (although not near much so be aware of that) and a quiet little space to relax. Communication from the host was excellent, lots of great recommendations for the area and and super easy check-in process. I would absolutely consider staying here again!!

The best place of our trip

original location, the impression of being alone in the world. the studio is furnished and decorated with taste, and very well equipped (especially regarding the kitchen). it's clean and quiet. the beds are good. Honestly an excellent address (we did not find anything negative!)

Great place to get away from it all

The places like new and was beautiful. The settings great off into the countryside which is what I was looking for. I was going to be back in that area with rent and stay there again in Heartbeat.

Cozy, fully stocked cottage

Had a wonderful 2-day stay at Afternoon cottages. Instructions were straight-forward and given to us several days before. It is about 20-25 min from Hella, which has gas station and grocery store in town. It is accessed through a well-maintained gravel road. There are 2 other cottages which had visitors but we never crossed paths and noise wasn't an issue. Have views of Helka in the distance. The cottage is as pictured with enough space for 2 people. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans dishes, cutlery, and dishwasher. Cooked two very nice warm meals during our stay. Hot water shower and air conditioning/heat. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Clean, quiet, well appointed

Wow! What cute little cottages, isolated away from it all. Perfect for viewing the northern lights. Only 1 hour away from the golden circle. Every detail has been thought of. The property was very clean. The owner provided a lot of information about the area and checked in with us over message to make sure everything was all right. Finishing up our trip in Iceland and looking back, both my husband and I have put this as our favourite HomeAway.
