About the host
Hosted by Gary Craig
Our family lives in San Francisco, and we love getting away to the mountains to ski with our kids in the winter, and play at the lake and go for hikes in the summer. I have an interior design studio in SF and design homes as well as boutique hotels, so it was important to me to make sure guests feel comfortable and taken care of in our cabin. I also took care to preserve the original midcentury details of the home, and recreate that nostalgic, alpine getaway feel.
Why they chose this property
We chose the neighborhood based on the house being walking distance to Tanner Lake. We love all the summertime activities and programming at the lake for our kids, and the family friendly vibe. The house is on a cul-de-sac with lots of friendly neighbors, and also feels very private in the trees. It's an easy ~35 minute drive to Bear Valley for skiing and winter activities as well. And almost never any traffic driving to/from SF - usually takes ~2:45-3 hrs.
What makes this property unique
The location and access to the private lake are wonderful. We love the cozy feel of the cabin - the wood burning stove, deck surrounded by trees, and being in nature with our family. The home has been updated with new art, bedding, light fixtures, etc by an interior designer, but nothing is precious or too cold/modern. It is meant to be lived in and enjoyed by families, kids, and pets, and be a haven for creating memories.
