This location was fantastic! Close to everything, but we felt like we were in our own little paradise. The hosts were wonderful and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The river is perfect for kayaking and fishing, too. My husband and I loved it here and can’t wait to come back!

The Teters were absolutely incredible guests. The way they left things so immaculate it was if they were never even there. By far our cleanest and tidiest guests of all time. They are welcome back anytime!
Had an awesome time with the lands here and a fabulous glamping set up. Travis warmly greeted us upon our arrival and showed us the whole lay of the lands and the glamzebo tents were stacked with everything we needed and beyond for sleeping, electronics, wifi, cooking, entertainment, keeping mosquitoes away. kayaks on site were easy to launch and enjoy the peaceful st lucie river, the wooden dock was a great spot to fish and enjoy meals under the tiki fires, location is extremely accessible to fort pierce / st. lucie yet feels like a whole other world of privacy and seclusion while on the property. highly recommend checking this riverfront spot out!

About the host
Hosted by Travis Sherwood-Shannon
My name is Travis and I am your host on Gator Island. I come from the Chattahoochee River in northern Georgia, so I've been around boats, fishing, tubing, kayaking, and the great outdoors my entire life. I have been a gracious host for over 40 years, and I love to show guests some of the river secrets here on Gator Island.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood primarily because I just love the river life and all of the beautiful birds, reptiles and animals that call this place home too. My favorite of all is the Basilisk Lizard or more commonly known as the "Jesus" Lizard. They get this name from their ability to literally run on water. During the months of May to November you can see them on Gator Island in the wetland ponds zipping around on their hind legs. Truly a miracle and beautiful sight to see.
What makes this property unique
This property called Gator Island is unique because it is surrounded by wetlands and the St. Lucie River, creating a true island paradise right in the middle of St. Lucie County. So you are close to everything, yet you feel like you are in the Amazon waiting for a poison frog to hop by or a whistling blow dart to graze your ear.
