"Quail Haven" The Serene Hillside Getaway

Unique lower level of daylight basement home (owners reside in the upper level), and centrally located in the Okanogan area. Serene setting with a captivating view, nestled on a hillside just above lush orchards.
Minutes from skiing, shopping, sledding, boating hunting, fishing & the Omak Stampede grounds. This home affords the visitors to lively activities & relaxing downtime from traffic and noise.
If you are a stargazer this is the perfect location.
Lake Chelan with it's many wineries is just 45 minutes south. Winthrop and the North Cascades is just 45 minutes west. We enjoy sharing fresh fruit off of our trees (in season) for our guests table. Apricots, donut peaches, Hale peaches, and apples.
We are also certified by the Okanogan County Board of Health, Permit #19-124
We have an assortment of wildlife in the area. Deer roam the property during the winter. There are coyotes, wolves, rabbits, and an occasional snake. We even had a moose wander through the upper orchard one morning. We have seen three different types of snakes, blue racers, bull snakes and rattlesnakes.
We ask all to please keep your distance and never approach any of the snakes or wildlife.

Joe and Sandie and first class people and hosts, and their property is fantastic! Well maintained, spacious, and an excellent location for proximity to the Columbia River, Lake Chelan, Omak/Okanogan, and the Methow Valley. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Excellent haven

Beautifully kept property, lovely view. Good location for exploring the Okanogan, north central Washington. Seven of us stayed very comfortably for a family reunion.

Very welcoming.

Beautiful grounds and view only bested by kind and inviting hosts. Pool was a lot of fun and a great place to cool off in the afternoons. We loved our stay and hope to get a chance to visit again.

Amazing

My family and I absolutely loved this property. Inside was clean and had everything we needed. Beds were all incredibly comfortable and the outdoor space was so peaceful along with multiple yard games and space to run around. The hosts are also so nice and fully represent the hospitality of a valley native. We will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Stay for Visiting Family

We absolutely loved our stay at Quail Haven. It's such a beautiful property and the views, HOLY COW. So gorgeous and the property is the definition of a park-like setting. Obviously well loved and well maintained. Our hosts were so kind and obviously took a lot of pride in their property. Thank you again for an amazing stay! We will likely be booking another stay the next visit to see my family in the area.

Sports weekend stay

Our son had a baseball tournament in Okanogan and we wanted a comfortable landing spot, which we found in Quail Haven. Joe was very accommodating and friendly and the area was well maintained with a beautiful view. For 5 people and a dog, this was hands down better than 2 hotel rooms and no room to relax!

10 year anniversary

It was a perfect getaway :) my husband and I wanted to go star gazing and we had friends join us and I will say it was not a let down. Absolutely beautiful. We got to watch the moon rise. It was truly wonderful :)

Happy Birthday Robert!

This was the perfect place to stay to check out the Okanogan Higlands (which we had never been to before). We went to Molson one day and Winthrop the next. While we were at the house we were able to use the amenities, play games, and stargaze undisturbed. We learned a lot on this trip, took a ton of photos and made some amazing memories. Happy birthday to my boy and I'm glad you had a great time!

A wonderful, well stocked, home!

Joe and Sandie have created a beautiful spot to spend some relaxing days. All details were carefully considered. The home was well stocked with everything a family could need. Even though the temps outside reached record levels, the house was cool and the pool was perfect! The TV was super sharp and gigantic. The outdoor areas were beautifully maintained complete with multiple hummingbird feeders, lots of flowers and nice outdoor seating options. Joe and Sandie are friendly, helpful and warm. Thanks!

What a hidden gem!

My partner and I visited from Seattle for 3 nights, and we had an amazing experience calling this our weekend home. The views from the property are amazing and the unit is clean and large enough to feel comfortable all day if needed. AC kept us nice and cool all night, and our hosts were extremely generous and flexible.

House was very comfortable. We were in town for several days salmon fishing. Great location and a lot of room to park a boat. Even though the owners of the house lived upstairs it’s a very quiet location. Great views. Would stay there again.

I cannot say enough about how perfect this spot was for us. We worked 8-14 hour days in 85 heat and having a clean, cool, beautiful spot to retreat to - made the difference. Laundry, clean towels, plenty of parking, kind and gracious on site hosts made this work so well!

Another relaxing, fun-filled stay at Quail Haven

If I'm not mistaken, this was our fourth (or fifth?) stay. Per usual, Joe and Sandi didn't mind us arriving home near 11pm after we paddled our kayaks into the moonlight on Omak Lake and Blue Lake in the Sinlahekin Wildlife Refuge. We also discovered daily (indoor!) pickleball at the North Cascade Athletic Club, ten bucks a drop-in, and the regulars were extraordinarily welcoming, as was Danielle, the owner. And if you're visiting before the end of July 2025, be sure to drive over to Winthrop to see dozens of pieces of Joe's beautiful woodwork at the gallery in town, which he has expanded into wood-and-epoxy options. Of course, if you're lucky, he might even show you some pieces hanging around the property...just don't tell him I suggested that. In any case, the hummingbirds, of which there are at least three species according to our birdcall app, along with the fifteen other bird species we located there, provide a special visual and auditory treat with your early morning coffee or tea or whatever, and with your late evening scotch or wine or whatnot. The property itself is just what you see online. It's perfect for us, with plenty of space for time alone inside and out, which anyone married for nearly four decades will tell you is essential. Oh, and the internet supported a lengthy international zoom meeting that went on for over two hours, as well as hours of online grading of papers and exams. If you're into that sort of thing! We can't recommend Quail Haven enough.

We relocated to the Okanogan area in 2003 and really enjoyed the lifestyle the area had to offer. The friendly people and less traffic. It's an easy drive to town and there is plenty of shopping in the area.

Why they chose this property

The home had just the setting we had always imagined. The view is so spectacular any time of the year.
A driveway with it's cottage like appeal and a home just large enough for the family to gather.

What makes this property unique

The home sits just above the town. It is very quiet here.
At night the sky comes alive with stars.
In 2014 we decided this would be a perfect, serene getaway to share so we opened the lower level for vacationers to enjoy. It is centrally located for, shopping, golfing, skiing and excursions throughout the Okanogan and central Washington area.
We have an assortment of wildlife in the area. Deer roam the property during the winter. There are coyotes, wolves, rabbits, and snakes. We have seen three different types, Blue Racers, Bull Snakes and Rattlesnakes. We also had a Moose wander through the upper orchard one morning.
