Bear Lodge is a classic log home in Packwood, WA. Experience the magic and beauty of the Cascade Mountains and Mt. Rainier National Park in this beautifully built and immaculately maintained vacation home. Have your ultimate mountain holiday in this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom cabin. It's an ideal place for large family getaways or several couples on a ski or hiking trip. Sitting on wooded property, this luxuriously rustic and cozy cabin and peaceful setting is perfect for your vacation.

After a wonderful day exploring Mt. Rainier National Park (only 8 miles away), or Mt. St. Helen's National Monument (80 miles away), hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, or skiing, cook a fabulous meal in the fully equipped kitchen (or grill on the deck outdoors!) before sitting down for an elegant meal in the dining room where every meal feels like a special occasion. Cozy up in the large living room with a fire in the stone fireplace and share stories with your friends and family about the day's adventures.

We love to cook, so the beautiful slab granite counter tops and stainless appliance filled kitchen should have everything you need to make wonderful meals. In the cupboards, you will find a crockpot, fondue set, blender, hand mixer, large toaster, electric pancake griddle, wok, nonstick pans, baking sheets, and more. On the counter you will find a Keurig (K pods provided), an electric kettle and Cuisinart coffee pot, complete with grinder. We haven't forgotten the helpful kitchen essentials: salt and pepper, spices, olive oil, vinegar, tea, sugar, coffee, cocoa, popcorn and many condiments in the refrigerator.

Out on the deck, a large hot tub makes for a delightful evening of stargazing and quiet relaxation. After a busy day of biking, hiking, skiing, or fishing, soak in the tub and listen to the sounds of nature in the secluded 3 acre back yard. We have over 60 movies on DVD, a Smart TV, Netflix, and over 20 board games for your vacation entertainment!

Each bathroom offers high quality linens, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion.

This home also has wireless internet access, so if you must do some work or school work on your vacation/getaway, you may do so in the comfort of the cabin, on the porch or in the hammock while you enjoy the natural beauty of the area. As cell service is "spotty" in the mountains, there is a land line for your convenience.

We are family friendly and have a Graco 'Pack N Play' and a portable booster style high chair for your use. Our cabin is a smoke free environment (except for use of the fireplace). All linens are hypoallergenic (down alternative comforters) and each bed is covered high quality, high thread count 100% cotton sheets and duvet covers. In addition to the 4 bedrooms, there is a (not private) loft with a twin mattress and a full sized mattress for sleeping up to three, as well as a den for reading a book or watching television. We have 8 portable fans as well as a ceiling fan in the living room for use on hot summer days.

Bear Lodge welcomes the truly young, the young at heart, the great adventurer and those just desiring a peaceful rest for the mind, body and soul!

Ski - only 20 miles from White Pass a paradise for downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snowshoeing.

Stargaze - right from the back deck, yard and recreational fire pit.
Visit National Parks - 8 miles from Mt. Rainier National Park and about 80 miles from Mt. St. Helen's National Monument.

Hike - There are no end of trails to hike, rivers to walk, vistas to view, and flora and fauna to enjoy. Surrounded by wilderness, you could spend years finding new trails. Our cabin is a half mile from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest - one of the oldest National Forests in the United States.

Fish - Great fishing on the Cowlitz River and Skate Creek, only minutes from the cabin. Just over White Pass is the Tieton River which has class III-IV White Water Rafting in September each year, just 40 minutes from the cabin.

Hunt - Excellent hunting in the forests surrounding Packwood.

Shopping and antiquing, restaurants, saloon, and bakery/coffee shop a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the cabin into downtown Packwood.

Pan for gold! Information at the Packwood Prospect and Mining Supplies.

Arrival time is 4:00 pm and departure time is 11:00 a.m. We try to be as accommodating as we can be (a little more difficult during busy seasons) with the arrival and departure times. If your group needs an exception with the arrival or departure time, please feel free to inquire with your desired time changes, we will do our best to accommodate.

We have a 40Amp EV charger which charges at a rate of about 28 miles per hour.

Come, sit and relax on one of our porches and enjoy a superb cup of the locally roasted coffee, while watching the elk graze at Bear Lodge. Please, be our guest; let our home be your home for a few days, a week, or longer if you can. We would be delighted to share the beauty of the beautiful Cascade mountains with you – and a home that will help you create the kind of memories you will relish for a lifetime!

We prefer to give our guests their privacy. For safety and security, we have Ring cameras on the front porch, overlooking the driveway and overlooking the back deck toward the yard. No cameras are inside the cabin or looking inside the cabin. We have a wonderful hospitality team that all live within a few minutes of the cabin for assistance if needed.

Great log home, close to White Pass skiing

This is a beautiful log home, very clean and comfortable, and the property manager was great to work with. There were not as many beds as listed online, but we had enough for our group. The road getting up to the home is steep in spots and required all wheel drive in the snow.

Great place for our party of 9!

Bear Lodge was a wonderful place for our three-day stay. Everything was clean and in working order. There was plenty of kitchenware, towels, firewood, etc! We really enjoyed staying in this cozy (though large) cabin in the woods!

Wonderful cabin

Loved the size of the cabin. Our entire group slept comfortably. The TV room gave a place for people to have some privacy. Dining room was large. We appreciated all the outdoor chairs. Most everyone took an evening dip in the hot tub. Great location near Rainier National Park. This is the best place we’ve ever rented for a family gathering.

Great property!

We enjoyed a great time at the cabin. Wonderful access to Mt Rainier - especially the Ohanapechosh area, as well as the beautiful drive to Paradise! The fireplace was cozy - warmed up a cool rainy June day! The cabin has a great stash of games to play for all ages. Everything was in good working order and clean. The small grocery store down the road had everything we needed as well.

Perfect location and cool cabin

A few of us ventured up the pass to do some late season skiing. I would not hesitate to book this cabin again (and probably will!) next year for another trip. Good size, great location to local spots (walking distance :) ) clean cabin with a great layout and comfortable beds. Clean and very well maintained. Owner was prompt in returning the damage deposit and in confirming booking.

Nice rustic cabin close to everything

Good jumping off spot for exploring Mt Ranier area! Out in the country (eok wandered through the yard) yet nice grocery store and other amenities in town close by. Hot tub, fire pit, Netflix, wifi were a hit during the evenings, tons of games and books available too, very well stocked kitchen, roomy and comfortable for all. Host clearly cares about guest experience. Pictures are very representative.

July visit

Enjoyed the log cabin which accomodated our party of 10. Everything was provided that we needed. Hot tub was a hit. The lowest step on the stairs going to the hot tub area needs to be repaired or replaced. It is tripping hazard. Also enjoyed seeing lots of elk not far from cabin.

Picture perfect!

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Lodge in January. The house was clean and fully stocked and had plenty of towels. There was plenty of fire wood and fire-making supplies. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub as the snow was coming down. It was nice to have two separate living areas but a little more seating in the main living room would have been nice so that we could all sit down together. We would definitely like to come back again.

Clean and well stocked.

We had a really great time, the 8 of us. The cabin was large and spacious and very clean. The kitchen was stocked and ready to use, the selection of board games is impressive, and even though it was very hot outside, we enjoyed the back yard the most. Plenty of places to sleep as long as you don't mind sharing close sleeping quarters. The cabin is not secluded, but it's at the end of a road and there's plenty of trees to keep privacy in. Awesome experience, highly recommended.

Great location, well equipped house, plenty of room (we had 14 people including kids and their grandparents). We liked everything and definitely want to come back - there is so much stuff to do in the National Park and around. Thank you for great service P.S. And thank you for sending me a bracelet which my granddaughter forgot at the lodge. Leo

We are very active in our communities both in Packwood and where we reside and work in the Puget Sound area. We have 3 wonderful children that are very excited to experience and enjoy more recreational activities and nature-time in Packwood and all of it's surrounding paradise. Our family loves to travel and have had multiple pleasurable experiences with staying in vacation rental homes. We have enjoyed our vacation rental experiences throughout the country so much, that we made the decision to own our own mountain retreat and share it with others like you. We hope you find Bear Lodge to be just as relaxing, peaceful and exhilarating for your soul as our family finds it to be!
