The original Emma’s Cottage on Martha Street was carefully restored, renovated, and decorated in loving memory of my grandmother, Ms. Emma L. Gould, who was simply known to me as Grandma. Every thought and detail was done with her in my mind. Her kind heart and hospitality is what made her so special. We decided as a family to take some of the stories she shared about her childhood and things she loved so much to restore and decorate Emma’s Cottage on Madison Avenue in her honor,

My overall experience was very good. I mentioned my concerns to the husband who came by on Sunday and he was very receptive. I will also like to mention, because I like paper towels, hand soap and trash cans in bathrooms, that would be my “please do”. The house was very nicely decorated and family friendly. We were very close to ASU, the market and downtown close to the restaurants, museums and tourist attractions. I would recommend the cottage and I would surely stay there again

Towanda
Absolutely beautiful home in an exceptional location! The host Towanda was an absolute gem and made us feel so welcome and cared for. She was so communicative and understanding, it made our stay completely stress free. It was the perfect home base for OTS graduation, can’t wait to come back for Squadron Officer graduation in 6 years! Can’t recommend this spot enough :)
Nice house.. I love the fact that Mrs Emma Gould memory is kept alive through this house. And the Black history through the furniture and pictures was a plus. The location was great and very close to the River Park and other Historical sites. I would only say add something under the claw tub to secure so it dont shift while using it and put curtains on back door. Thanks for making my first trip to Alabama a great experience.

Older home in an interesting neighborhood. There is a gate to secure your vehicle so that makes you feel more secure. You have to enter home from alley which can be off putting. The home has old house smell but the amenities have been updated so thats a plus. Host left cupcakes AND a couple bottles of water!Host was very communicative!Good hot water Cool house
