This pretty country property is one of three traditional holiday cottages set amidst the lush forests and meadows of the Fowey River within the Draynes Valley. Thyme cottage is a charming two-bedroom (one double and one twin) characterful property.
The guest's one acre shared garden with several picnic benches, outside games and garden seating offers ample space to relax, hang out and take in the lovely view. Enjoy an alfresco brunch, dinner or tea on the cottage's private patio to the rear of the property, furnished with a picnic bench, Weber BBQ for exclusive use of occupants in the rear patio area, sun shade and garden chairs. Off site parking is available for two vehicles per cottage free of charge.
The open plan layout on the ground floor consists of a recently refurbished kitchen/diner and lounge area with a wood burning stove, the two bedrooms on first floor are cosy and inviting with crisp cotton bedding and soft throws. A stylish bathroom has been installed with back lit mirror, new tiling, light fittings, attractive flooring and a large powerful shower. Inclusive Extras : Fresh flowers, traditional Cornish cream tea, Unlimited access to fast speed broadband, Starter pack of Nespresso Coffee Pods, tea bags, Crisp cotton linen, Soft and fluffy towels, hairdryer and hand wash. Cottage Features: Wood-burning stove - baskets of logs and kindling can be purchased directly from ourselves at a very competitive price (1st October to 31st March), central heating throughout, TV with Freeview, radio with Bluetooth technology, comfortable sofa and two armchairs, stylish bathroom with spacious walk in shower, American style jug/filter coffee machine, Nespresso machine & pods, dishwasher, fast speed wireless broadband, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer in separate laundry room, private patio with table, chairs, parasol and a Weber BBQ, travel cot, highchair and stair gate.Access to our pretty one acre family friendly guest garden with picnic benches and garden toys, discounted entrance tickets to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and free onsite parking for up to two vehicles per cottage.
There are some great local pubs and restaurants in the area by to suit all tastes. The London Inn in nearby St Neot provides a friendly welcome, has a large inglenook fire and a varied menu with locally produced food and a great choice of beers. Our Welcome Book lists recommended local places to eat, drink and visit, feel free to ask one of us if you have any questions or want to know more about the cottage or the local area. The Cornish mining world heritage area is close by in the village of Minions and parts of the TV series Poldark were filmed locally on the Moor, both are great locations for country walks and cycling whilst taking in the atmospheric scenery. The beautiful l harbour town of Fowey where Daphne du Maurier author of 'Rebecca' lived is within easy reach. Lelant near stunning St Ives and home to Rosamunde Pilcher author of the 'Shell Seekers' is also easily accessed and well worth a visit. Nestled in beautiful countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Bodmin Moor, we are situated just 5 miles from A38 & 6 miles from the A30 - an ideal location to explore the best of everything that Cornwall has to offer, with Eden, Lanhydrock and Heligan being close by and the rugged cliffs on the South Coast (Lostwithiel, Rame Head, Looe, Polperro) plus quaint fishing villages and the sandy beaches of the North Coast (Polzeath, Padstow, Newquay) are easily accessible. Country walks for both the casual stroller and also the accomplished hiker can be enjoyed from our very own doorstep!
Thyme cottage is part of 'Badgers Sett Holiday Cottages', comprising of three pretty properties, Rosemary which has one double bedroom accommodating two people, plus Thyme and Lavender, both have one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, accommodating up to four people per cottage. All three cottages can be booked together - accommodating up to a total of 10 guests. The owners live on site in a lovely old barn and will be here to welcome you and hand over the keys on your arrival. One of them is usually around and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the cottages or the local area throughout your stay, other than that, they leave their guests to enjoy this special space.
