We truly enjoyed our stay in Montreal and will be back! The apartment itself was lovely & just right for a family of four. The best part about the apartment is the proximity to the metro, wonderful for getting around. Furthermore, the decor in the apartment is also stylish & modern. I had read questionable things about cote-st-Marie, but I would 100% stay herr again. Having extensive experience w NYC, the "problems" with Cote-St-Marie are minor. It is an ethnically diverse neighborhood w tons of students, full of dining & walking distance to st. Joseph's oratory, which is spectacular. We loved Old Town & Old Port & the homeless there is far worse than cote-st-Marie. Finally I need to share the problems we had, starting 2 days before we checked in, when i was sent a form to fill out before checkin. However, we were already on vacation & I had only brought my phone. I couldn't open it on my phone and the host acknowledged that, but said I needed to do it or my reservation would be canceled. Then when we checked in at exactly 4pm, the cleaning crew was still there, tough for a hot, tired, hungry crew who had driven hours. We had trouble with the code to the door & she messaged me the wrong one. We couldn't turn on the AC, prompting my older son to say nothing worked in the apt. I messaged the host numerous times but frankly the response time wasn't great, ranging from a few minutes to half an hour. This is really tough when people are trying to start their stay.
This was a very nice little flat with everything you will need for a longish stay in Montreal. It is a ten minute walk from some excellent grocery stores and a few student friendly restaurants, close proximity to the transit system and within walking distance of the University. The bed was comfortable, the shower first class and the neighbourhood pretty quiet. If you were hoping to cook, you might want to bring a few basics, but the kitchen is perfectly adequately furnished for basic meals. The host was receptive and helpful.
