Base Camp 77 | Northwoods Adventure Meets Cabin Comfort
Welcome to Base Camp 77—our personal slice of Hayward paradise. We’ve designed this space for those who live for the lakes and trails, loving the peace of the northwoods. Whether you’re here to clock miles on the Birkie, kick up dust on the snowmobile/UTV trails, or find a back bay on a lake to call your own, this is your headquarters.
We’ve set this home up for "real life." It’s clean, intentional, and designed for people who play hard all day and want a high-quality place to recover at night. We love guests who treat our home with the same respect they have for the trails—leave no trace, take only memories, and treat the cabin like your own.
🛏️ The "No-Short-Straw" Sleeping Quarters
A day on the trail requires a real night's sleep. We’ve invested in high-end linens and premium pillows throughout so the whole crew wakes up ready to go:
Primary Bedroom: A massive King-sized bed for sprawling out after a long day.
The Bunk Room: No flimsy twin bunks here. These are heavy-duty Queen-over-Queen adult bunks (rated to 800 lbs). We used the same top-tier mattresses and linens on these as we did the King. Even in the "bunk room," you’re sleeping like royalty.
🏡 Cabin Comforts & Slow Mornings
While the trails call, the cabin is designed to be enjoyed all day long:
Hot Drink Ritual: A dedicated coffee station is ready and waiting. There is nothing like the smell of coffee brewing or a warm cup of tea in the morning while you watch the woods wake up from the screened porch.
The Kitchen: Fully stocked with the essentials to cook up a storm, including a pizza oven for the ultimate post-trail meal.
The Lounge: A living room featuring 4 built-in recliners, a Smart TV, and fast Wi-Fi for when you finally sit down to scroll or stream.
Screened Porch: Our favorite spot. Perfect for bug-free relaxation. We’ve got an outdoor heater on hand so you can enjoy the fresh air and forest views even on crisp Northwoods evenings.
Dedicated Workstation: IF you do have to check in with the office or are a digital nomad, we have created a workstation to support you as well. We have to work remotely when we visit so... we feel your pain.
🛻 The Trailhead Advantage (Parking & Access)
We know Hayward is all about the equipment, so we made the logistics effortless:
Direct Trail Access: Located directly on the snowmobile trail and just minutes from the Birkie, CAMBA single-track, and the best boat ramps in Sawyer County.
Trailer-Friendly Driveway: Large driveway with plenty of room for boat, UTV or snowmobile trailers—no 15-point turns required. Right on Highway 77.
Mudroom Summer Ready: Plenty of space by the door for boots, helmets, and heavy jackets. Stop the mud at the door and keep the cabin cozy.
⭐ Why Guests Love Base Camp 77
The Surroundings: Enveloped by trees with frequent wildlife visits (keep an eye out for deer and turkeys).
The Quiet: Peaceful mornings and dark, silent nights—this is real Northwoods relaxation.
The Proximity: Close to the multiple lakes, trails/trailheads and downtown—less driving, more doing.
🐾 Respectful Paws Welcome
We love dogs and know they make the best adventure partners!
The Crew: We welcome one well-behaved dog (reach out if you have more).
The Rule: To keep our home trail-ready for everyone, we simply ask that pups stay off the furniture and beds. Your help looking after the cabin allows us to remain pet-friendly for years to come!
