The Space:

Lovingly restored by a father–daughter team, Argyll House blends European country character with a warm, contemporary sensibility. Exposed stone, stained timbers, and wood and slate floors are paired with deep gem-toned furnishings, patterned wallpapers, and a thoughtful mix of antiques and modern pieces curated by Deirdre McMullen.



The home is designed for both gathering and quiet moments, with generous living spaces that open onto outdoor terraces. The saltwater pool and manicured grounds create an easy indoor–outdoor flow for summer stays, while cozy interiors make the home equally inviting in cooler months.



Guest Access:

Guests enjoy full private access to the estate, including the main house, swimming pool, terraces, gardens, and on-site walking and jogging trails.

A tennis court located across the street is available for guest use.

On-site parking is available. The barn is not accessible to guests.

Argyll House is located in the rural town of Harwinton, in scenic Litchfield County, an area known for rolling hills, lakes, and small-town charm. Nearby towns offer cafés, antique shops, and local markets. Seasonal activities include hiking and leaf-peeping in fall, swimming and farm visits in summer, and skiing at Sundown or Mohawk Mountain in winter.



Guests can visit nearby farms such as Thorncrest Farm for fresh dairy and chocolates, stop by Hogan’s Cider Mill, or explore local nature preserves and state parks. A curated guide to local favorites and nearby destinations is provided for guests.



Getting Around:

The estate is approximately two hours from New York City. A car is recommended to explore the surrounding countryside, nearby trails, farms, and neighboring towns. Free parking is available on the property, with additional parking near the barn. The nearest major airport is Bradley International Airport (Hartford), about 40 miles away.
